Anyone like to meet up to compare notes?
by Farmer Jim1 inhi folks, i’m heading off on a road trip of northern uk next week and, living in a very rural place, would be keen to take the opportunity to meet up with any ex-jws/current jws to compare notes on jw and post-jw life.. if anyone is available please pm me.. for the record i’m 18 months out of jw, was a ‘model jw child’ & longtime ms & reg pio.
leaving was the best life decision i ever made!.
regards.

How do you deal with the loneliness after leaving?
by Whynot ini'm having one of those days where i feel lonely and wish i had someone to just hang out with.
my husband got disfellowshipped 3 years ago and even though i didn't do anything wrong i was pushed away.
my so called "friends" decided to avoid me.

I signed up to a life drawing class and met tons of people there with the same interest as me (drawing). Have a lookout online for local classes in whatever you're interested in.
Also, meetup.com is a great place to start. I joined an international friends group made up of immigrants from every country living in the UK. We meet up in pubs and go on days out. I have like 20+ friends now from different cultures and languages.
i know it's tough, but if you put yourself out there you'll meet people. I promise you.

What Is The Most Ridiculous Thing You Have Heard From A Witness?
by minimus ini remember an elder questioning a woman who had admitted to giving and receiving oral sex from her unbelieving mate.
he asked her the most intimate questions which clearly flustered her.
interestingly, she “confessed “ to the elders because her conscience bothered her.

One I distinctly recall is my mother telling me how another couple at the hall had some items in their attic that had gotten demon possessed. So they took the aforementioned items outside to burn them, but the demons were preventing the items from burning (items made from wood, cardboard, paper, clothing, etc). They even doused all the items with gasoline and yet the demons prevented them all from ever catching flame. Eventually they hauled the items away to a dump since they were permanently demonically inflammable.
I swear i was told this exact same story by my sister when i was a kid.
Incidentally, i burn a lot of waste wood and paper-crap in my backyard and it's not always easy to get books to burn. It takes a few goes, there a knack to it.

Did anyone ever read Angels & Women (formally known as Seola by JG Smith)? It was published in 1924 and was basically a prequel to the flood of Noah's day told in story form by someone living in that time. Apparently an angel dictated the entire book to Mrs JG Smith and she wrote and published Seola. CT Russell encouraged his followers to buy it and read it.
The Golden Age magazine July 30, 1924, p. 702:
“ANGELS AND WOMEN” is the title of a book just off the press. It is a reproduction and revision of the novel, “Seola” which was written in 1878, and which deals with conditions prior to the flood. Pastor Russell read this book with keen interest, and requested some of his friends to read it because of its striking harmony with the Scriptural account of the sons of God described in the sixth chapter of Genesis. Those sons of God became evil, and debauched the human family prior to, and up to, the time of the great deluge. We call attention to this book because we believe it will be of interest to Bible Students, who are familiar with the machinations of the devil and the demons and the influence exercised by them prior to the flood and also now in this evil day. The book throws light on the subject and is believed, will aid those who carefully consider it to avoid the baneful effects of spiritism, now so prevalent in the world. The book is revised and published by a personal friend of Pastor Russell, and one who was close to him in his work. It is published by the A. B. Abac Company, New York city.

Meeting Days Felt Different?
by pale.emperor ini dont know if it was the same for you, but for me when i was a jw meeting days seemed to have a black cloud hanging over them.
on thursdays i knew i would be going to the meeting that evening.
that i would be getting into my meeting clothes at 6:30pm, leaving the house at 6:55pm and be sat in the kingdom hall from 7:15pm-9pm, then milling around for about half an hour before finally getting home for 10pm.

About 4 years ago we was invited to a award event for a friend of ours. It was on a Thursday night and we had to dress up. It was the first time I put on a suit in three years. When I was tying my tie I started to feel sick by the time I had my jacket on was on I was in a full aniexity attack. It took about half hour to figure out what was going on. Soon after that I was feeling better. So you see how all those meeting days affected me. I hated them. Still Totally ADD
This has just reminded me, i now only own one suit. I used to have 4. The one suit i own is only ever brought out for job interviews and special occasions like my partners graduation or a super fancy birthday meal. So i made sure i bought myself a good expensive one instead of the polyester mass produced sweat-bags we used to wear 3 times a week.

As a kid I actually enjoyed the Revelation book because i'd spend the entire meeting flicking through the psychedelic pictures.

I dont know if it was the same for you, but for me when I was a JW meeting days seemed to have a black cloud hanging over them. Evening gone. Wasted. Nothing new or excited was learned that evening and it was totally boring.
And that was just Thursday!
Sunday was the same deal, except it was in the morning so you didn't get a lie-in. Plus you may have had an hour ministry after the meeting so you wouldn't get home until about 3pm. Morning and most of your afternoon gone, wasted.
Now, I only just realized that it's Thursday. The day doesn't invoke a bad feeling inside me. One of dread.
And remember when we used to have the book study too? (in my case, it was on Tuesdays). How did we function?! 4 days out of our 7 being hijacked by theocratic stuff when we should have been enjoying our lives.

This is the best imperfect organization.
We've never made false predictions, we've just erred in our understanding of predictions.
