I understand that Earnest. But what I'm getting at is the way JW.borg have reported it is as if the courts regard disfellowshiping and it's consequences as just and not a big deal.

From https://www.jw.org/en/news/jw/region/canada/supreme-court-rules-20180531/
In a unanimous decision released on May 31, 2018, the Supreme Court of Canada recognized that the disfellowshipping arrangement should remain free from court intervention. We rejoice in this vindication of Jehovah’s righteous standards.—Isaiah 33:22.

First of all, the court ruled that intervention fell out of their juristiction - it nowhere stated that they agree with this practice.
Secondly, the interveners in the court case were representatives of other churches. So it's "satans" churches that have actually ruled this. Namely:
Canadian Council of Christian Charities,
Association for Reformed Political Action Canada,
Canadian Constitution Foundation,
Evangelical Fellowship of Canada,
Catholic Civil Rights League,
Christian Legal Fellowship,
World Sikh Organization of Canada,
Seventh‑day Adventist Church in Canada,
Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms,
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints in Canada,
British Columbia Civil Liberties Association and
Canadian Muslim Lawyers AssociationThirdly, the court case was conducted with witnesses present, the judge and jury were two separate entities and the interveners had no conflict of interest - totally the opposite of how Watchtower carries out judicial committees! Imagine how outraged Watchtower would be if they were treated the same as a JC.
Fourthly, this is the same supreme court in which a Watchtower lawyer lied about the disfellowshipping arrangement - stating that families ties stay in place and it's only spiritual association that is effected.

Hmmmm... he sounds like a clever guy. What he said is absolutely reasonable.
I am sure there are a lot of JWs lurking on this forum. They know what is written here is true but yet they still cling to their religion. Who knows? Maybe they cannot leave..yet.
What brought me to this forum when I was PIMI was sheer anger at the elders interfering and micromanaging every choice in my life. I came here to find a listening ear and boy did i find it!

It's not unusual to go through the stages of PTSD after leaving a high control group. We can all relate to finding it strange, unusual and at times downright scary adjusting to the real world. The important thing first and foremost is to know that you're not alone. This forum was and still is like therapy to me. Do make sure you visit and read, contribute and post your journey. Maybe even share your story of how you ended up in the religion and how you managed to leave? This can be quite therapeutic.
Take it slow. There's no need to rush. You'll make friends in time if you make sure you get out there. I personally joined classes like art and joined a meetup group on meetup.com. I found a group with the same interests as mine and made lots of friends.
As for self esteem, it's all about how you regard yourself. How do talk to/about yourself? At times we tend to focus on the negatives but there will always be cool things about you. Focus on the things you like about yourself, discover new music and bands that make you feel good. Even re-style yourself. I changed my entire dress sense (for the better!) and i started to feel good about myself.
And, of course, stop reading the Watchtower rags.

I'm only partly qualified (so far) in therapy and counseling so I'll leave it there.

I think more homosexual members are coming out into the open slowly but surely since the org changed their stance from:
"...masturbation can lead into homosexuality. In such instances the person, not satisfied with his lonely sexual activity, seeks a partner for mutual sex play. This happens much more frequently than you may realize. Contrary to what many persons think, homosexuals are not born that way, but their homosexual behavior is learned. And often a person gets started when very young by playing with another's sexual parts, and then engaging in homosexual acts." Your Youth - Getting the Best out of It (1976) p.39
To:
"Although the Bible condemns homosexual acts, it does not encourage prejudice,
hate crimes, or any other kind of mistreatment of homosexuals....Awake! no.4, 2016."
I remember two men who by now are in the mid-thirties. They've lived together since their early 20s. They go on holidays together, out for meals together, both are goodlooking and girls fawn over them but they're not interested. One of them emigrated to Cyprus but returned after 6 months as "they missed eachother" (their own words). They're both ministerial servants and dont act effeminate or anything but I'd bet my life on them being gay. Nothing wrong with that. An elders son who works with one of them once told me that they've both been in a few JCs over the years.
Another brother who's 100% hardcore Jdub, your next circuit overseer. 28yo, lives with his parents, his best friend is his sister. Never had a girlfriend, talks like a girl, wears foundation for "his complexion" and can be found every Saturday afternoon shopping with the sisters in the mall.
If he's not gay he's the biggest cissy I've ever seen.
Again, not that there's anything wrong with that!

There was a crazy African brother in a neighboring congregation that rules his wife and daughters like a dictator. Super strict. One convention he was up there being interviewed about how Jehovah provides. He related he quit his job so that he could full time pioneer while his poor wife went to work TWO jobs. But, you know, this is what Jehovah wants. He really wanted a new kitchen but their congregation also needed funds to build a new hall - so, being the good JW he was he donated all the cash to his congregation <round of applause>.
"And what happened next brother?"
A month later he received a cheque from the Inland Revenue for exactly the amount needed for his new kitchen.
<Another round of applause>
About a year later, his daughter (who has since rebelled against her uber-strict upbringing) told me at a witness party that it was actually fraud. He made a bogus claim on his insurance to get the money for his kitchen AND he was claiming disability benefits while being perfectly healthy and full time pioneering.

How old are you? If you don't want a bible study don't have one. Or if you do make sure you ask the questions they don't like:
1914
Overlapping generation
Rutherford and Beth Sarim
1975
CT Russell and pyramidology
Rutherford claiming vaccinations were demonic
If you don't know what these subjects are, go to JWFacts.com and do some reading on there about them.
