Remember when Jesus had a shave before being put to death? Yes, apparently Jesus throughout the 1950s went beardless lest he stumble anyone.

Beards and Circumcision: turning their argument around

'timothy got circumcised so as not to stumble others!

Screwed up sexually
by purrpurr ini was thinking about how the borg screws up and sexually neuters their flock by telling them when single to "deaden their body" and then boom as soon as there's a ring on the finger to not be denying eachother.. do any of you know of jws who have been screwed up by these teachings?
i know 2, 1 elder came back from honeymoon having a nervous breakdown unable to cope with the cd that sex produced in his head.
and the other called up her parents while on honeymoon, crying and begging for themto come and get her, since she was so shocked that sex hurt.

I hated that nudity alone was always stamped as pornography. My mum was that strict about it I wasn't even allowed to see Greek statues if they were nude. Same goes for paintings. This is in my teens mind you. Even when I was in my early 20s she'd change the TV station if there's a shampoo advert we're the woman is in the shower even though you don't see anything.
Then next after marriage I'm supposed to see a naked woman and know what to do!

Finally got round to watching this last night. I cant believe how accurate it is! It's clear that the director was once a member, all the terminology is there plus the creepiness of the way JWs act.
I found myself laughing out loud a few times and rolling my eyes, especially when the mum finds out her daughter is pregnant and the first thing she says is "you have to start bringing him to meetings". The mum doesnt smile once for the whole duration of the film, she reminded me so much of my mum!
I wonder what the actors/actresses think of the cult after appearing in this movie?

Be Couragous! - (Like The Governing Body?)
by pale.emperor ini was watching lloyd evans rebuttal to the saturday program of the be courageous convention.
lloyd pointed out something that had occurred to me as well:.
all this talk and examples of courage, whether it be standing up in class defending intelligent design, putting up with being imprisoned, not running away from bullies, always having a reply to someone who tries to ridicule your faith... the young ones are encourages - nay, commanded - to stand their ground and be courageous.

So according to what has been posted in the OP, one can only be courageous if he faces a reporter, agrees to a false summons (Losch was correct in refusing to appear on behalf of “Watchtower” — the court should have done its homework an actually found out his actual role), or answer questions he doesn’t know the answer to?
No, not at all. But it was a perfect opportunity for him to "be courageous" just like they're imploring young ones to do. If someone doesn't know the answers, all they have to do is say "i dont know". Running away from a simple question isn't my definition of "being courageous".
Enlighten me, what exactly is Gerrit Losch's role?

I was watching Lloyd Evans rebuttal to the Saturday program of the Be Courageous convention. Lloyd pointed out something that had occurred to me as well:
All this talk and examples of courage, whether it be standing up in class defending intelligent design, putting up with being imprisoned, not running away from bullies, always having a reply to someone who tries to ridicule your faith... the young ones are encourages - nay, commanded - to stand their ground and be courageous. Yet this is the exact opposite of what the Governing Body do.
Gerrit Losch wriggled out of turning up in court by claiming he's "no part of Watchtower" and that "I do not answer to Watchtower".
Tony Morris literally ran away from a reporter when asked about how they handle child abuse.

Jeffrey Jackson dodged questions and outright lied to the Australian Royal Commission.

Mark Sanderson got his ass out of Russia on the first plane he could find after the courts decided that JWs were banned there.
How about leading from example? If these men actually did behave courageously, at least it would give the JWs someone to look up to, someone to make martyrs of and compare to the apostles of Jesus day.

For a while, because of conflicts in the teaching material from which I was reading, I almost totally quit reading the Bible and praying
My advice is go back to doing that. You'll notice that your hopes and wishes are granted at about the same frequency. Even more so if you actually take action and work toward your goals.

JW Nut Telling His Story Online
by pale.emperor inwhile searching for some jw related stuff online, i stumbled across this page created by a pimi.
his name is steve mcdowell and a watered down version of his story was published in the watchtower https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/wp20150701/bad-to-worse-life-story/.
however, this version, he says, is the full version.

Can someone please tell me the end result ?
He became a firefighter, met Michael Jackson, then quit his job to serve the borg even more. Got appointed as an elder and he's still in.

In all seriousness WT decided to cancel all non essentials. Common, you think the GB think kids are important? They can't donate as much as adults and their hands are too small to pull the witnessing cart.
Plus, Tony Morris needs another gold watch - essential Watchtower funds.

Reading the WT version and his full version you can see how the editors have reworded his story and left out massive gaps such as him beating up the cat radio theif while out on the ministry.
Makes me rethink all those "encouraging" accounts I used to read in the yearbooks and WT mags when I was PIMI.

I wonder what the Watchtower editors thought when they read the full unabridged thing? I'm surprised they still ran it considering some of the stuff he claims:
Sadly though I wanted to keep smoking “Weed” (marijuana). I actually prayed to God to forgive me, even doing so out loud. After reading the account of Moses at the Burning Bush, I asked God for a sign to forgive me for smoking weed which I thought was my only sin left (Ex.3:3, 4). One night while my fleshly brothers and others were in our converted den garage getting high and then I wanted to join them. I first stood outside in the driveway praying for forgiveness and then before I went in, a crack appeared in the ground, what I imagined to be the bright colorful image of Jesus appeared, then I dropped to my knees and it told me I was forgiven, then it put a sparkling, shimmering necklace over my neck, then smiled and then he and the necklace broke up and disappeared. I ran into where my brothers were and told them. “Hey, I spoke to God”. They informed me that they too had heard our voices. When I told the Witnesses of my experience, they explained and helped me to see the connection between drugs and spiritism and the Demons trying to fool me (Rev. 20:8). After a couple of more experiences with the demons holding me down in my bed, by applying Bible counsel I broke free, recognizing that you can’t partake of Jehovah’s table and the table of the demons.
Yeah, the effects of drug use and sleep paralysis are a bugger.
“I dedicated my life to Jehovah and was baptized January 5th, 1974 at the Los Angeles Leimert Assembly Hall” and my entire unbelieving Family attended even my opposing violent Mother. In those days many of us thought the end of the world was right on us. I decided to become a Pioneer Minister from then until the end. I worked a rotating shift job that caused me to miss some meetings and it bothered my conscience. I had $5,000.00 saved up to buy with cash, my new car (costume Black Pontiac Firebird) after my $500.00 down payment to special order it. I decided to lose, forfeit the down payment, not buy the car, and to use that money to be a Regular Pioneer Minister until Armageddon (Mark 13:10; Ps. 89:1). I could budget well and my furnished apartment was just $125.00 monthly and I didn’t eat much. I figured my $$$ could last until 1975, the calculated end of man’s 6000 years of existence. So I quit a great job at B.F. Goodrich Chemical Co, started 75 hour Auxiliary Pioneering, and by the Fall I was a 100 hour Regular Pioneer Minister.
This poopoo's the recent Watchtower propaganda video that "some" were looking to a "certain date" doesn't it?
Most memorable was on Wednesday nights when Fred Franz, Bro. Karl Klein, George Ganges and other G. B. Members would sit in the hot rock Bethel Sauna surrounded by us young Bethelites rotating in and out of the heat to get counsel, hear stories, experiences, and get our curious questions answered by these spiritual giants, heavy weights.
???
In those days we would say “I’m in the Triple A Club = Available After Armageddon”
Yeah, it's a good thing you eventually realized 1975 was "you" being "overeager" and eventually married anyway right?
While at this same Fire Station, I was also with the Paramedic Team that rescued and attended the entertainer Michael Jackson when his hair caught fire filming a PEPSI Commercial. He was still in the Truth then and was encouraged by my words and presence there, knowing I was also his spiritual Brother.
Except he wasnt... MJ was never baptized.
Even a young Stephen Lett pops up!
