Watchtower Trolleys With Added Bling
by cofty inmy wife and i were in edinburgh on saturday (did a ghost tour) and around dusk we passed two trolleys on the high street — aka 'the royal mile' — that both had two rows of led lights under the little shelves.
has anybody else seen this or is it a local innovation?
i'm happy to report their pimped-up trolleys were attracting no attention as usual.

Living in the last of the last days - A new prophecy
by Listener inalthough not a new concept by the watchtower, particularly in public talks and at assemblies, they have now put this prophecy in writing.watchtower oct 2019 page 8 -13 study no.40 titled -keep busy during the last of "the last days".
the first paragraph asks '1.
what convinces us that we are living in “the last days”?

I remember the Watchtower study one Sunday when I was about 8 years old. The study conductor, all wide eyed and frothing at the mouth, assured us that it will definately come before my generation left school.
I'm 35.
It was "the last seconds of the last minute of the last days" then.

The worst I get is where they look at the ground or pretend to be looking at something else.
Ah yes, the "take out your phone and pretend to text" routine. I love making them feel awkward. I make them notice me and make them go out of their way to ignore me. If they think I'm going to "humble myself" and obey JW rules they can F off.

'Experiences(tm)'! Made up or totally true??
by punkofnice inat one assembly(tm), i was asked to relate an 'experience(tm)' which i did.
however, during rehearsals, the geezer in charge elder or co or some such title, told me that i shouldn't tell it the way it was.
i did a 're-enactment(tm)' with another 'brother(tm)'.

If I remember rightly it's somewhere near Liverpool or the Wirral??
You must be from ol' Blighty surely.
Fazakerley is one train stop away from where I was born and raised - Kirkby, Liverpool.
There used to be a great independant guitar shop there called FRETS. A little Chinese man owned it who could play guitar like the ghost of Hendrix. You had to see it to believe it.
Except over here we pronounce it "faz-achk-lee" It takes a mouthful of phlem to pronounce it correctly over here. Scousers are used to it.

I'm sure Paley is rushing to go back to meetings now. I know I would be.
I'll never set foot in a Kingdumb Hell again. Not for my own mothers funeral, not for anything.

When was it time for you to walk away from your congregation meetings and the WTBTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe basic virtue for a human being is to be true to yourself – the integrity of thought, emotion, and action.. .
ten years ago ( after 32 years as a jehovah's witness), i finally decided that my own mental sanity and being true to myself was more important than attending congregation meetings and serving the watchtower society.
i stopped (years before) field service, the ministry school, answering at the watchtower studies, missed numerous meetings and walked in minutes before the meetings started and left after the closing prayer, i knew it was time to leave.

I was only 11 when the 95 generation change came in, as such, I dont remember it.
For me, it was turning the page in our study books and seeing this...
That was the beginning of the end for pale.emperor. I tried to explain it away by convincing myself that surely this is a temporary "idea" and new light will come in soon to correct it, right?....... right?

Looking back at the people I knew in the Jobos.....
by punkofnice in...there are very few if any, that i would have willingly associated with.. my 'worldly(tm)' friends are all brilliant people.
they are nothing like the weirdos i had to put up with in the congregations.. what is your take on the people in the jobos as opposed to your associates now?.
-
pale.emperor
Oh god, there’s loads of people I would never associate with in the real world.
Since leaving I made it a rule to raise my standards of who I associate with. Closed minded people are out. As are homophobes and people who go out of their way to remain miserable.
Some of the asshats I used to associate with in the congregations over the years:
A guy who used to get very annoyed at other guys who managed to get girlfriends. He was a joy to be around as you can tell.
A family who used to turn up to conventions in African clothes. And they weren’t even African. They were white.
A girl who went to university in secret while her elder daddy told others she was only doing an apprentiship while pioneering where the need is great. (In Hull?)
There were some (some) who were great people and I hope they leave so they can enjoy the real world. My ex-brother in law or example and some friends from my late teens.

Typical me, being a human being, does what anyone would do. I recognise a face, my mind doesn’t register who it is so I smile and say “Hi!” as I walk past. Her reaction can only be described as a scowl. Imagine shining a flashlight into a dark room filled with rats who cant stand the light. That sort of scowl. Then it registered who she was.
I head to the beer aisle. She watches with a face like a smacked ass. I go to the checkout and she’s on the phone talking to someone while looking at me.
I’m polite and friendly to the staff, they all know me because I’m there so often. Only this old cow is the one miserable this December.
I’ll be the talk of the Thursday meeting :) Except by the time it reaches their ears the story will be I was buying booze, condoms and cigarettes while having white powder under my nose after snorting it off a prostitutes ass.
………………….I hope.

How many times did we hear "a friend of a friend" has this occasion happen to them where a JW woman called on a rapists door but he left her alone because he (allegedly) saw "two big men standing with her" who were "obviously" angels?
Fortunately, the man went and raped the next non-JW visitor who called instead. How on earth that's a nice story I'll never know.
That same story appears in other relgions and even on Snopes. But I heard it in the 1980s.

Few things here...
Qualifications for Public Speakers: At a future elders’ meeting, the body of elders should review the list of public speakers in the congregation. Only qualified speakers who are approved by the body of elders should give public talks. (sfl chap. 20 par. 1) A qualified public speaker teaches effectively from the Scriptures, makes the practical value clear, and reaches the heart of his listen-ers. (Neh. 8:8; Luke 24:32) The body of elders may decide that an elder who cares for assignments on the midweek meeting does not qualify to give public talks. In some cases, an elder with limited abilities may be approved to give public talks in his congregation, but he would not qualify to be a visiting speaker. In such cases, he would modestly decline personal invitations to give talks in other congregations. The body of elders should use balance and good judgment as they prayerfully consider the abilities of each brother. All elders, including those who presently do not qualify for certain teaching privileges, should take the initiative to approach the auxiliary counselor and make good use of the Teaching brochure to improve their teaching skills.
So they've been appointing elders who have no teaching ability. Well, we all knew they were scraping the barrell due to no "young ones" reaching out anymore.
Used Circuit Vehicles: Vehicles previously used by circuit overseers will now be made available for sale via the WTResource.com website.
Are they that strapped for cash? Used car sales? Seriously? Sheesh.
These are not the signs of a religion that's doing well.
