This must be the only “religion” that doesn’t publish anything written by their own founder.
That should be all one needs to know.
i'm reading babylon the great has fallen, god's kingdom rules, published 1963. this was studied years ago when i was about 10-12 years old.
i wanted to just read some of the beliefs from decades ago.
my wife wants to know why i'm reading this book.

i made a big mistake when signing up at this supposed website for jehovah's witnesses.
after reading some things on this site it has become apparent to me that this site is nothing put another pathetic site for apostates: people who betrayed jehovah, left the truth, and are so bitter about their experiene in the truth, and they are angry just like satan because they know they will very soon be dead at jehovah's hand!.
this website should be renamed something more fitting like "satan's playground" or a similar name that would get across the message of your site.. sincerely,.
Shit. I was 16 when Laura posted her rant. Not only am I not destroyed by her angry sky fairy like she was sure I would be, but I’m living life to the full with no regrets.
2020 convention of jehovah’s witnesses.
we warmly invite you to watch this year’s three-day convention presented by jehovah’s witnesses.
as a result of the novel coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic, this year’s convention program is being presented online at jw.org.
Too bad if the big A comes before lockdowns over. Otherwise those who were supposed to get baptised in the 2020 convention are toast.
hi friends ,.
is it just me or do others on this forum like to know where posters are from ?
what country state or region you are from ?
Liverpool, England here.
Just a short walk from Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields.
i did this in my facebook group for my podcast and it was fun.. so what's the craziest thing you ever saw?.
for me it was watching a brother have a heart attack during the meeting in the auditorium.
i was a kid and noticed him shaking and acting strange.
For me it was watching a brother have a heart attack during the meeting in the auditorium. I was a kid and noticed him shaking and acting strange. The attendants basically dragged/helped him to the back where he was eventually picked up by an ambulance. The meeting went on like nothing at all happened. Apparently this has happened numerous times as others in my group had similar experiences. Normal humans don't react that way. The show must go on in the KH though.
I remember the same thing happening in my KH when I was a kid.
The strangest thing I can remember when I was about 8 years old was an elders wife come into the KH in the middle of the Watchtower study with a black eye and her arm in a cast shouting and raving about her husband beating her up.
She was dragged out by a gang of brothers and there were gasps from those in attendance. After the meeting we were told she's turned apostate and makes up lies about her husband - a dear elder in our hall. It was still talked about for years after.
Turns out he was indeed a wife beater who'd been beating the shit out of her for years and things came to a head when their adult daughter died. She told the elders, who did nothing. My dad witnessed with his own eyes him slap her across the face. He told the elders, they removed my dads "privileges" and counseled him on gossip.
From then on, although my dad always believed the religion, he had no faith in the people in it.
stay in period.
get deliveries of necessities so you dont go to store.
no contact except phone.
I must say, I'm impressed with how regular "worldly" people are helping one another during this time. My partner and I were dropping of some food to our local foodbank (something we've never done before) and there were loads of people doing the same thing.
These people who've been labelled as "selfish", "greedy", "wicked" people who "don't care about anyone" have actually stepped up and offered real help. Some (although not all) were organized by local churches. Others were just people who want to help.
...my community has yet to have had any offer of help from the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
This should be an ideal opportunity for JWs to show "the world" how loving they are and how they help those in need, especially in times of disaster. But no. Helping non-members costs money and we wouldn't want to postpone building that super-duper movie studio would we?
If I thought armageddon was "just around the corner" I wouldn't be spending $millions on building projects. Would you?
"By their fruits you will know them".
i have noticed that the foolishness of jephthah's vow to sacrifice his daughter gets bandied around a lot as somehow approved of by god.
i never could understand how people could come to this conclusion.
if i wrote about something terrible that my son had done, that doesn't mean that i am for that thing.
God demanded Abraham murder his child. God ordered the murder of hundreds of Amalekite infants. God has form.
You missed one, Cofty. His own son.
YHWH is the original Fred West.
this was sent to me by a cooky uber-dub.
apparently it's making the rounds locally...it's typical lighthearted jw satire (that they think is great!!
smh :-/ ) .
I like how everyone is suddenly able to understand ancient Hebrew, ancient Greek, Aramaic, Babylonian and whatever extinct language Noah would have spoken even if he did exist (which, of course, he didn't).
And anyway, can you imagine still having to attending those fucking conventions even after the mass holocaust of non-members?
And that mention about survivors of Nazi concentration camps... they dont even think about the others who were there. Jews had is ten times worse.
SMH.
did anyone catch michael palin's travel documentary in north korea?
it was a fascinating insight into such a secretive and controlled country.
totalitarian, suppressed and yet i found a few similarities to jw mentality.. particularly, this segment, where michael asks his handler about the limitations on freedom she has.
Michael Palin is looking old. I think by his complexion he may be a cigarette smoker.
I've read his diaries 1969-1979. He used to be a chain smoker just before the Python days. He stopped when he first child was born, and Terry Jones encouraged him to start a different habit.
He chose diary writing. Hence the diaries.

Particularly, this segment, where Michael asks his handler about the limitations on freedom she has. She lacks the freedom to question or criticize her leaders, yet she's been led to believe that this is a good thing because (from 1:59 in the below video) "They are not individual, they represent the masses. So we cannot criticize ourselves, can we?"

Eerily similar to JWs view of the governing body, I think.
