How Often is 1914 Openly Spoken of at the Meetings?
by Number 6 inas someone who left in 1991 aged 21, one of my overriding memories of growing up in the watchtower was being able to "prove" the end times by referencing 1914.. major change in 95 then again after that.
if i'm being honest i could not even tell you now what the current teaching is.. for those who still attend the meetings, is it still openly spoken about?
i genuinely curious as i wonder if the teaching will be altogher dropped eventually, and one of the easiest ways to achieve that is to stop speaking about it.

I believe they are taking their time but moving slowly to dropping the 1914 date as any real meaning. I had relatives tell me who were elders they would never ever drop 1914. LOL They are all dead now.

The bill makes it so you don't have to be put on a sex offender roll if you are within 10 years of the child. So a 19yo can have sex with a 10 yo or a 25yo can have sex with a 15yo. This is so sick and disgusting they are making the JWs look like the protectors of youth.

by Anders Andersen intoday watchtower netherlands published an open letter in a national newspaper, lamenting the accusations about them not handling child abuse issues very well.. they protest a scientific report made by utrecht university (by request of the government).. they protest almost everything our minister of justice has said about them.. they place themselves in the role of victims of unfair treatment, discrimination.. they point their finger a other religions (foremost the catholic church) because they are much worse.. they refer to jw being persecuted in wwii, as if that were relevant to the issue at hand.. all in all, they (probably) spent about 25k to 30k euro to publish their bullshit in a national newspaper.. not a single trace of any self-awareness, let alone even a hint of an apology.

did you admit to the fornication? If so why on earth did you do that? Use the two witness rule against them. I did for years. Its why I am not DFed today. Never ever give them the rope to hang you unless you are very sure you want to be DFed. In that case move ahead and let them do the deed. I see what you are saying though. If you do a "sin" more than once you can be DFed even if you approach them and confess and are sorry. They can say its a patter of sin and DF you even if you are the one who told on yourself. It all comes down to what elders you are dealing with. If they have it in for you or you have a couple of elders who just don't like you it does not matter if you are repentant or not.

It is easier to bring back those who were once in. The cult gets it talons in deep. People go years after leaving wondering if they were wrong in leaving. Then you throw in the Whuan Virus and unrest and their mind goes immediately to the prophesy by the society about the end times unrest and disease. I remember when the wall came down in Germany and the USSR collapsed. People were running around in the organization saying in 5 years. That was 1992. 26 years ago. It always reminded me of the men in black movie where Agent J says there is always an end of the world situation going on. So its not hard to keep people on edge. But then prophesy fails with things like the generation. Ho long can you say from this point then move the field goal posts? Some will buy the sale even when they deep down know its false. Sad really

so the great majority of the generation to which jesus was referring has already passed away in death.

New to the forum and been lurking for a while. The generation issue is what drove the final nail in the coffin for me. That crap about overlapping generations was so lame and stupid I left the org. I had had doubt on and off since forever but this was it for me. I had one elder tell me that he was glad the society cleared up the issue. I said it was not making it clear it was a complete definition change. Like saying red is no longer red its blue.
