Types attracted to the sect known as jehovahs witnesses.
by atomant inl have observed the types of people attracted to the sect are many times unbalanced, unstable, emotionally insecure types.the jdubs seem to home in like vulchers circling the prey ,preying on the vulnerables.they tried it on me when my father who was an elder died.promising that if you become a dub you will one day see him again.l said how can you promise that when you keep making false misleading predictions.l was wondering if others have observed this phenomenon.

Around here too they go to the nursing homes and count time and studies by studying with people who pretty much cant do anything or think for themselves anymore. They they bring them to the hall in their wheelchairs and oxygen tanks and get them to comment once in awhile. That usually doesn't last long though, i'm sure the family gets wind of it and stops that. Other new ones coming to the hall have been ones that are clearly mentally unstable. Its sad they prey on these people. They would never help them out otherwise if they weren't coming to the hall. -

Counsel from Bro Losch (GB Member) to the Elders about the NFL
by James Jack inwhile attending a week long training class for elders in patterson, bro losch gave the concluding talk about loyalty to the borg, which i was in awe of(i went more in detail in a recent post about a s.a.d.
where losch was the speaker).
at the end of his talk, here's what he said: .

I hate how they just never come out and say directly what they are talking about... egg shaped ball? pads and helmets? Hitting and hurting each other? Just f'ing say you are talking about football instead of sounding like a complete moron and describing it. The september watchtower of 2015 is the most recent occurence that i noticed of their distaste for sports..
‘Does my conscience move me to shun sports that are aggressive, competitive, nationalistic, or violent?
First of all, all sports are competitive or it wouldn't be called a sport, and they are wanting people to SHUN competitive sports which most of us here know how severe shunning is. Although most jw's find shunning humans much easier than shunning their favorite sports. Bunch of f'ing judgeMENTAL hypocrites is all they are.

How do you feel about the expression "The Truth"?
by stuckinarut2 init's amazing how the expression "the truth" has become such an ingrained term used by witnesses.. "we have 'the truth'".
"is he 'in the truth'?".
most here have found out so many facts about the organisation, and felt the effects of being "gut-punched" as we realised these facts.. so how do you feel about the expression "the truth" now?.

I still find myself saying it but try not to use any of the JW specific terms as much as i can. Such as the truth or worldly. -

At the doors.
by Sabin inwhat were some of the derogatory things you heard or said about house holders?
.
i was taught that if they didn't answer the door & you knew they were in it was always that they had a guilty conscience..

someone at the hall commented that if people don't listen to Jw's then they are stupid. -

They Push You In,,,,Then Punish You If You Go!
by new boy inthey brag about the fact that they the don' t baptize their babies because "how can a baby 'know' what religion it wants to believe in the rest of it's life!".
but a 14 year old does?.....they put so much presure on their children to get dunked, that if your not baptize by 18 years old there is something really "wrong" with you.. so the poor kid does it, just to get everyone off their backs.
legally a minor can't be held to a contract if they are under 18 years old and why?

I was 14. I wasn't pressured by my parents to get baptized but was pressured to go to meetings. I was told at 13 that if i didn't wanna go to the Kingdom hall then i could move out. Well, thats a tough thing to do at 13. I was baptized only because everyone else that age was doing it and they were friends of mine. No one wants to be the odd one out when you are already odd enough to the world. -

What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?
by minimus inwhen i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".
so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

side burns too long, hair too long, hanging out with my best friend (who was a jw) too much, and i'm sure there are other things. -

some of the earlier watchtowers were really loving in their speech about df'd people
"we must hate the disfellowshipped person in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme active aversion, to consider them as loathsome, odious, filthy, to detest" wt 1952 oct 1.
There are a few others also, but pretty hard to believe Jesus would ever say anything like that.

Governing Body Letter details things that "have never been done before." - Really?
by cappytan in[note: copy/pasted this with permission from reddit.].
once each year, the governing body writes a direct letter to the congregation members included in the yearbook.
in his annual message to the catholic faithful (urbi et orbi) delivered on christmas day, the pope spoke about world peace, terrorism, and the refugee crisis.

I find it hard to believe they would remove their tattoos just from reading on the jw website. Probably a made up experience. -

Watchtower crackdown on anointed expansion - are they reaching for a solution to the expanding numbers problem?
by slimboyfat inif this has been discussed i missed it.
i think the january study watchtower is a concerted attempt to reduce the numbers claiming to be anointed.
but i love the sneaky way they go about it this time.

I'm surprised the GB just doesn't lie about the number of anointed to make themselves look better. They could just print a misleading number and the sheeple would believe it anyways. -

Is zeal beginning to vanish?
by Caupon init has to be starting to fade somehow.

maybe just about nine people were out and man if you could just see their faces.

Our hall has always had pretty low numbers on saturday morning and pretty much no one going out on Sundays. They even try to boost attendance by having a "special" saturday every month. That has proved fruitless as well.
