hi does anyone know any good articles or videos about how old mankind and the earth are and carbon dating?

i've just started looking into it but there seems to be a lot of conflicting ideas over accuracy so i'm unsure what to think.

What Shepherdess said is correct. What you said is not.

1 - People did have many children centuries ago but then many children died in childhood.

2 - Kings did have many wives in some societies. Do you really think that this example you give demonstrates the norm amongst the population as a whole? If so how did the man support all these wives and children?

3 - Your post is a good example of the 'non sequitur' argumentation mistakes often used by creationists. Your conclusion does not follow from the evidence you provide. I am going to assume that you simply do not know why what you have written does not support your assertion...

Using 'venus maths' the population of India 1500 years ago was 1.

I guess venus just proved the human race didn't exist 2000 years ago and therefore Jesus never existed nor the Roman empire or anything else for that matter.

Venus, that is how you 'logic' isn't it? You first state something inane and then conclude something ludicrous? Am I getting your methodology accurate?

But it is not a 50/50 chance of it being either way. The error that I am seeing in a lot of ideas here is that the dichotomy is being given equal weight of likelihood on both sides.

At some point you have to attribute likelihood of truth to both sides and go with the one that is most likely. If not you will not advance any further in knowledge.

We advance more when we dismiss the idea of a god and go with what we know to be true through experimentation and observation.

Certainly, we seem to advance along nicely without the need to attribute god to things known or unknown...

Growing a beard

i've always been currious as to how i would look with a beard so i've finally committed to doing it.

over the next 30 days i'm going to grow out a full chin to ear beard.. .

ps: any suggestions or advice on how to grow a beard would be much appreciated!.

I find rubbing mustard in mine is a great help in keeping inquisitive birds at bay, especially in the spring when they are looking for nesting sites.

#1 - The God we are referring to here is the god of the Bible. We get our information of this thing from the Bible. It is all there in black and white. Why do you need to start pondering what if's? Is it because the black and white god of the Bible is unpalatable?

#2 - I agree with you in the main however there comes a time when we can confidently state something is a fact. Wife complains to police about abuse, Police arrest man and he confesses, man confesses to Cofty because they are friends. There is no question about the abuse accusations being false due to the wife secretly filming events over the previous couple of weeks.

#3 - Not understanding the mind of god is one thing. However the Bible clearly explains what love is, and that god is love etc... In this instance the discussion is around the fact that god does not behave as it should based on what the Bible states about love: 1 - God is love; 2 - Love is this; 3 - God does follow the rules of love; conclusion: God cannot be love and the Bible is full of contradictions and lies.

The Bible is clear on what love is. It is clear on what the Christian god is. The Bible is very clear on what this god does. No ambiguity to hide in here...

His point stands, yours fails, again.

^^ Here we see someone who is more interested in winning a debate rather than learning something.

How you, Earnest, can say that allowing the deaths of millions of people is a manifestation of love is beyond me. It is not subjective because the Bible explains clearly what love is and what one must do to love. The action or inactions of this god that is in control over everything demonstrates one way or the other if it is carrying out its own instructions on how to love. It is demonstrable that it does not follow its own rules; this, again, is not subjective.

Whether every single Christian believes this is irrelevant. The only thing that is relevant is that the Bible clearly teaches us what love is (in their eyes), teaches us that god is love, and then demonstrates behaviours by this god that contradict the claim that god is love. Therefore the 'god is love' god does not exist...
