Hopped on Wikipedia and saw article on Anti-pedophile activism here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-pedophile_activism One paragraph was in reference to the JWs the next was in reference to Anonymous. I had an interesting thought, since this vigilante group is now involved with catching pedophiles, I wonder if they have ever considered going after the database with the list of over 23,000 names.

When did the religion become a cult?
by Hermano inam i wrong in believing it was rutherford who took the religion from strange to cult?
under russell they had some strange beliefs but strange beliefs don't make a cult.
wasn't it rutherford who established and reinforced the hierarchichal structure and demanded absolute loyalty?.

Taken from:
Christians call all other groups cults.
Basically Christians have said that if a group claims to be Christian and yet teaches something fundamentally different from what the Bible teaches then they are a cult. ie. a Buddhist group that claims to be Buddhist is not a cult, but a Buddhist group that pretends to be Christian is. This definition is not used in this article. So given the above statement, I would say the cult started with Russell and some of the major things he deviated from Christianity on such as pyramids, incorporation of Free Masonary, etc.

Sorry, posted originally in IE.
In short, I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I've really learned quite a bit looking over the information on this board. In short, thanks in advance to all who have posted. I've had the JWs coming to my house for the past four months. I have had four trips in the past 7 months. The trainee brings a different mentor everytime. They have left frustrated everytime when I give a simplistic answer based upon the Bible. The last trip it was "incidental" that the local elder was sent out.
I asked how can Jesus be Michael in light of the following verses:
Daniel 10.13
Matthew 28.18
1 Corinthians 6.3
Jude 9
Revelation 12.7
Typical fashion, it was sidestepped. I tried to ask the thinking questions and use "love" but received hate, skipping answers, etc. in response. I did force them to stick and give a few responses to which it was not appreciated much at all. My question is, where to go since as long as the elder comes out, nothing will get accomplished. Also, I would like to privately PM an ex-JW that would be possibly interested in sharing their testimony.
