Grew up thinking I was special and everyone who wasn’t a JW was wrong. I remember having intense bible debates with classmates and once I couldn’t control the conversation or someone didn’t agree with me i was followed up with at least my religion doesn’t ask for money or you don’t see any sex abuse, something I don’t w proud of. Now I don’t even have those legs to stand anymore.

Can You Make Sense Of Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by minimus inas a child growing up, i would see different arguments to defend a certain belief.
it may have required mental gymnastics in order to make a point but there was an actual attempt to explain, teach, and educate....even if the belief or teaching was bogus.. nowadays, it appears that jws couldn’t explain any belief.
they are drones and do as “mother “ has directed..

Wait a minute. What happened to the 2 witness rule? They can only come to you unless they have 2 witnesses report you.

Anybody know about this one?
by careful ina new book has just been published called the oxford handbook of the bible in america.
in it is an article by michael gilmour, professor of new testament at (the evangelical) providence university college in manitoba, canada, on jws and the nwt.
that's chapter 41. but that is not the only time jws are brought up.

Bringing reproach on Jehovah's name.
by ScottyRex ini have thought long and hard about this, you know in those midnight hours.. you will probably string me alive in what i say, but here you go-.
i feel that the jw's do have the truth.
i do agree with the doctrines and biblical exgenesis they propound.i do feel that they have the 'truth' i do understand they are imperfect, and i think they have had to 'refine' their teachings as time has gone on-and change accordingly- i see nothing wrong with this.

Hey Scotty,
Is it because you miss your family? I can uunderstand if you feel that’s what you need to do. But I know it isn’t the truth because of the filtered information i grew up on. Do you know I walked around judging people who weren’t JW’s but in the back of mind I’m asking why did God create us if he already has his people? I just examined the facts and made my decision.

Question about dfed relatives
by awake!watcher indoes anyone know if there is a wt reference that says associating with a dfed relative is a conscience matter?
i am asking because someone is trying to cause trouble and i was hoping there was an article i could point to to shut them up..

What of a man who is disfellowshipped but whose wife and children are still Jehovah’s Witnesses? The religious ties he had with his family change, but blood ties remain. The marriage relationship and normal family affections and dealings continue.
Look at this example here from the site. The normal family actions continue. Had this discussion with my family and I said let’s see what the society says about this, let’s go to the source and see their reaction.

Why is there such a 'high turnover' within the Jehovahs Witnesses?
by UnshackleTheChains ini happened to come across a time article in 2008. it was basically talking about the high turnover in american faiths.
it mentioned the jdubs and highlighted the following point.. an even more extreme example of what might be called "masked churn" is the relatively tiny jehovah's witnesses, with a turnover rate of about two-thirds.
that means that two-thirds of the people who told pew they were raised jehovah's witnesses no longer are — yet the group attracts roughly the same number of converts.

I was just thinking to myself today about the book Mankind Search For God, I remembered a part in the book that talked those following the religions that our parents are involved in. So found the book and my memory serves me correctly. Check the scan below paragraph 8

A few months ago I asked my parents about the letter writing campaign to Russia. I said it's the samething as writing your local congressman, they tried to say it's not the samething. So finally I said why didn't they just wait in Jehovah? I told them I'm no longer listening to watch you say, I'm watching what you do. They didn't have answer for me. -

Going through this right now. I have some contact with my parents been DF well over 10 yrs anyways I heard from a relative my parents were saying the same thing about me, I was crushed that they feel that way. My parents are getting up there in age and I'm worry about the night/day if I ever get that phone call if they die and me being DF. Really curious to see the responses this thread brings in because I need some tips.
