Below is the article on Yahoo Financial News, about .sucks. I wonder if someone will buy JWorg.sucks? . Just a thought.
Verizon.sucks? BankofAmerica.sucks? Yahoo.sucks?
The Internet and social media networks like Twitter (TWTR) and Facebook (FB) already provide an outlet for unsatisfied consumers, disgruntled employees and anonymous haters to vent their fury against companies that have drawn their wrath. But the venting could reach a whole new level in a few months when a new Internet address suffix goes online: .sucks.
Companies will have to decide whether it's worth $2,500 a year to tie up a .sucks address during a 60-day early access period set aside for trademark owners and celebrities that begins March 30. If they don't, anyone in the world will be able to register the name and set up their own protest site.
Another controversial new suffix, .porn, has already begun its early access period, drawing registrations from Microsoft (MSFT), Harvard University and even pop star Taylor Swift. Celebrities have more experience with the problems that may arise, having dealt with a barrage of new web site names when the .xxx suffix opened for business four years ago.
The newest offbeat suffixes added to the Internet's domain name system are just a few of the hundreds that have been approved over the past two years. Most are far more innocuous, including .party, .shoes and .accountant.
The new suffixes are intended to unleash a barrage of creative energy, and perhaps a few marketing dollars, by breaking free of the crowded .com space. Over 100 million names have already been taken in .com, including almost every word in the dictionary.
The non-profit Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN, which governs the system, established the procedure for adding new suffixes in 2011 and has been slowly working its way through almost 2,000 initial applications. So far, it has approved more than 500, with new additions released daily.
"It's about enhancing consumer choice, increasing competition and creativity in the marketplace," says ICANN spokesman James Coles.[Get the Latest Market Data and News with the Yahoo Finance App]
In many cases, that's just what has happened. Quiksilver, a top surfing gear maker, snapped up new domains in the .surf group including wetsuits.surf and boardshorts.surf.
It could happen even with the controversial .sucks domain, says John Berard, CEO of the Vox Populi Registry that's overseeing registrations for the new suffix.
"In 2015, I think it's fair to say the word is no longer a pejorative, but a point of emphasis," Berard says. "Twitter is saying harassment sucks. It's a rallying cry, a challenge."
Companies could register .sucks in their own names and use the sites to collect complaints and comments from their customers, Berard suggests. Or, they could allow ordinary people to run sites and still learn from whatever is posted. "It is an opportunity to create a well lighted place for criticism and collaboration."
The new domains will cost $2,500 for companies and $250 for consumers after the sunrise period ends. There's also a limited $10-a-year option if a consumer agrees to make the site part of Vox Populi's discussion network. Some complain that the .sucks offering is a form of extortion aimed at firms that may feel compelled to buy the domain name to prevent others from potentially tainting their brands.
Former Sen. Jay Rockefeller, while still in Congress last year, wrote to ICANN urging that .sucks be rejected and calling it “little more than a predatory shakedown scheme.”
But some domain name experts suggest the controversy is overblown. "Brand consultants thrive on paranoia and that's what we see with .sucks and the effort to make brands pay the $2,500," says Christopher Hofman, managing partner of the European Domain Centre. Companies should calm down and allow consumers to register .sucks domains, he says. "It's actually a positive, as it's a way to find out why your brand sucks and do something about it," he says.
That's not the way brand owners see it, says Dan Jaffe, executive vice president of the Association of National Advertisers, which represents large and small companies that collectively spend $250 billion a year on advertising.
"I'm not hearing from any of our members how great it is that there's .sucks or .gripes names," Jaffe says. "It seems more like an effort to squeeze money out of people than to serve a legitimate purpose."
With early registration starting next week and .sucks domains open to the public in June, that debate may soon be settled.

Mind control.
by New day inin a recent thread someone mentioned that the wtbts uses mind control techniques.
do you think this is a conscious ploy?
if it is it would mean that the leaders of my religion (i am still an active jw) set out consciously to control people.

Interesting conversation. At one time I did not believe it, and defended them. But there is a definite slant in all the articles, especially the study articles, of how they present an issue discuss it and it always ends up that the reader is deficient somehow or someway and he needs to make changes to be in Jehovah's favor, and there is a lot of discussion and loaded language to grow guilt in a desert. I've heard remarks that Jehovah is the hand puppet of the WTBTS, and I believe it. After being away for some years now, I can't even read a whole paragraph without balking about something said. My Op? Yep, the writers know darn well what they are trying to do. That's why I think there is more of a mastermind behind the whole con. -

Drugs and Alcohol Ruin Your Life
by campaign of hate inthis point was raised in another thread vaguely, and wanted to try and expand on it.. the wt has said (and rightly so in my opinion) "that excessive use of drugs and alcohol can ruin your life".
in my eyes this is a fact.. this is where it starts to get a little suspicious, as they also say (or subtly hint at) "that if you leave the wt you will becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol and will ruin your life".. its almost like a self fulfilling prophecy.
as there are a lot who leave the borg and they do start drinking heavy or smoking, or taking drugs...or whatever.. the wt capitalizes on the fact that people want more freedom, and they subtly ingrain the thought that.

Unfortunately, I drank more when I was in the organization and in good standing, either as a bethelite or as an elder than I currently imbibe.
I see what you are saying, and the question is: Did the WTBTS atmosphere in the congregation and their teachings, negatively affect these peoples lives, which then started them to fall apart?

Assembly Assessment increased 300%
by James Jack inwhile at the assembly, when reading the financial statement, i noticed our expenses went from $2500 to almost $9500 so i questioned an elder and said that the assessment per publisher is at $10.50 for all in the us branch territory.. he added this helps the society know how much is coming in and helps them plan out future projects!.

I hope they continue to increase their tax at the assemblies, maybe they would price themselves out of a job. Meaning, do you think that this would awaken some people? -

Candice said that "anyone NOT one a Jehovah's Witness was walking dead (+/-)" and then the camera panned over the artwork on the cover of the Watchtowers magazines of the destruction of Harmageddon, then they cut to the Watchtowers own PR video of a young man saying, "and then there will be a new earth". Nice work!
JW's didn't turn out looking so well on this one. The lawyer for Watchtower saying in court that they took care of them spiritually and nothing more could be expected was priceless. They think that they can all speak softly and that equates to being "spiritual" and reasonable,.... well, all except Kendrick and his hussy wife.
I'm putting it together why Watchtower Bible and Tract Society want to move their headquarters out of New York City and hide in the country.
Watchtower having to eat this is great. They could have put a stop to all of this years ago by changing their internal judicial system policies but have arrogantly done nothing. They could have 1) told the victims family they needed to report the crime, 2) The congregation elders could have been instructed by the WT legal department to report the crime to police and let them handle it, instead of pulling the "confidentiality card" 3) If they want to do their own internal JW investigation then do that. They act like their spiritual "discipline", their little public reproof/disfellowshipping is more important than jail time for child molesters.
I hope the floodgates continue to be opened on the WTBTS and drown them.

ATTENTION: Angela Montgomery, the JW "Mommy Molester" found guilty this Friday afternoon of 6 counts of child rape
by AndersonsInfo inandrea montgomery was found guilty as charged on each of the 6 charges of child rape of her biological son, alan von webb, the oldest boy of four children.
today, many media people were there in the courtroom for the first time since the trial started.. the verdict came in about 3:30 p.m. which took time for the judge to read, etc., so i learned about it at 4 p.m. when the father of the four children, now young adults, called us.
one of the children has down's syndrome, and it's difficult to imagine, but he also was raped since a child by his mother.

DepressedSoul, the reasoning that WTBTS has on OSHA requirements is that they do not have to comply with the regulations because the work is being done with volunteer labor and they are a non-profit organization. I asked about how they could get away with the unsafe conditions they exposed us too while working at Patterson years ago, and that is what I was told.
However, they had several meetings "encouraging" the workers to think of their own safety. Duh, you don't want to comply, but you are having accidents? Really. What did you expect? The bottom line for "working safe" was that WTBTS was having to pay medical bills for the immediate emergency care, right before they told the volunteer workers that they needed to go home and take care of themselves.
Evidently, WTBTS loves the benefits of free volunteer labor, but they don't like the responsibility. Volunteers Work at their own risk, and oh,... if you are hurt, we will pay for the stitches, and then send you home. If you lost a finger, eye, or other permanent disability, don't expect any money, because, we don't pay into workers compensation insurance, because we are a non-profit organization that has only volunteer labor. Humm, .....
