Interestign Slimboyfat,
So you are thinking that the Society is not trying to destroy this literature but rather they see the market value of the literature and want to cash in on a second time. Very Interesting, Good Point SBF.
i was approached by an elder about a year ago asking what i am going to do with my large collection of wt literature.
he told me the society had put word out that they were collecting old literature.
i asked him why but he couldn't give me a definite answer.

so,my daughter has never celebrated any holidays or birth day parties.i am glad to say that she just received an invitation from one of her class mates.her.
face was priceless when i told her she can go.she said " but...we don't celebrate or do nothing.i told her is a new beginning for us,and that god is not going.
to kill us because of a celebration of one more year of life.
Freethinking76, that is exciting.
Recently, my daughter was invited to a BD party. The family of the young girl had rented a room at a nice new local Hotel for the Birthday POOL Party. My Daughter was excited and had a great time.
I just enjoyed the fact that I could fully support my daughter enjoying her time at the pool birthday party with her classmates without explaining to her why Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate BD parties and then having her explain it to them why she couldn't attend. It was a modest pool party celebrating the birth of this families daughter. Ooooh that just sounds so wicked doesn't it? Creature worship at its MAX. Just Disgusting. LOL. I so glad she went.
no, i'm not misquoting peter talking to jesus again, or relating a conversation i had with a jw.. i'm asking something a little different.. i began my fade in jan this year and completed it at the memorial on 26th march.
since learning ttatt and becoming mentally free, my depression has improved, i see colours better, and my anxiety issues have dissolved.
i returned to teaching high school after years away from it, and am a substitute teacher at some local schools.
Julia, many huggs and kisses to you. It is unfortunate of the coincidental timing of the cycles of depression to your fade. From your brief posts, I feel I somewhat understand your frustration as I have suffered from depression since I was a kid. Further, I have reached certain celebratory milestones in my four year fade.
From your posts, it seems that you are going through a temporary low and you are perhaps considering that your low is causitive with your recent fade. It concerns you also that you are passing through the various doors of age and because of your WT indoctrination you have regrettably passed up opportunities.
For me there have been times that my family and myself incorrectly thought that material prosperity or other positive things we enjoyed were due to "Jehovah's Rich Blessing" because of our active witness life, sacrifices to the organization, and loyal support of his arrangements through the "earthly organization".
However, after accumulating some historical "data" to compare time and circumstances in my personal life, (I'm over 50 now) I know that in fact there is not any causitive connection of jumping through the continuous hoops of JW's or running on the JW exercise wheel with financial success, personal satisfaction and happiness, or mental and emotional fortitude. Any formerly perceived connection of being an example JW with satisfaction, happiness, or success is NOT causative, but only cooincidental.
I'm sure that you are aware of this, but it is WT indoctrination that encourages people to make connections of either successes or failures in life to the quantity and quality of service to Jehovah and the organization.
WTBTS does this by use and application of Bible examples like the Israelites loosing the battle against Ai because of the sin of A'chan. The battle loss at Ai was because of A'chans hiding spoil from the city of Jericho in a hole dug in his families tent. A'chans theft was the causation of Israel loosing Jehovah's blessing, subsequently the battle against Ai. Another Bible story that is used to "connect" JW's service performance and obedience to Jehovah's blessings is the difficulties that Adam and Eve had after they sinned and were not in the Garden of Eden.
The concept that loyal support of Jehovah's organization was directly connected to my personal happiness, financial success, family unity, and Jehovah's "protection" was one of the hurdles that I had to overcome.
i have been lurking for a long time here and i think i'm prepared to speak about this experience openly.. .
i was born in a jw family and i grew up as the average jehovah's witness does.
even being very young, i helped with the territories and other work in the congregation.
Hijos,
Thank you for your story. What an interesting experience. As far as the elders telling you to sign the card for your mother, that was inappropriate. I know several elders that would not even sign as a witness to the signature if the person was on the "death bed" and making their decision not to take blood that late.
But then again, maybe the elders that refused to sign the "medical directive" at that late date, knew the TTATT.
Thanks for your experience. I wouldn't carry any blame, you did what you could do and should have done. That is alot to ask of someone your age.

Compound Complex, a simple wrist watch? Interesting. At least a broken wrist watch that is stopped is accurate twice a day. Humm, a broken cheap wristwatch has more accuracy than Watchtower's navigators.

Terry, I appreciate your highlighting this particular navigational error of the WTBTS.
My Mom said that she had a "Bible Student" in 1962 and had explained to the student this scripture with the then current understanding that the Higher Powers were Jehovah and Jesus, as you pointed out that JW's believed from 1929-1962. The person with whom my mother was studying confidently disagreed with her explanation, however, Mom stood by what the Faithful and Discreet slave had taught and defended the position.
Mom attended the District Convention in the summer of 1962 when this "new light" was explained in a talk. Mom tells that after the convention, she had to go back to the "student" and explain that she (the student) had been correct and my Mom humbly took the blame for not understanding it correctly. I don't think this "student" ever progressed to baptism, but I recall my Mom saying how embarrassing it was for her.
It is scriptures like this, Romans 13:1-7, that with basic reasoning skills the interpretation is quite clear. The fact is noteworthy that Christendom always knew who the superior authorities where when WTBTS did not.
For me personally, this was one of those flip flops that I learned when but a child that threw a red flag up that raised concerns about Jehovah's Witnesses teachings. Unfortunately, it took me another 40 years to wake up:(
a friend sent me a link about the king james bible translating the "divine name".
maybe this is why there are no new nwt bibles available.
the web site states:.
A friend sent me a link about the King James Bible translating the "Divine Name". Maybe this is why there are no new NWT bibles available.
The web site states:
"With history behind us and hundreds of Bible prophecies fulfilled, there is no Biblical mystery at all as to who it is that is the Christ. However with God’s name removed from most Bibles and replaced with LORD not much is logical about the use of the words lord or christ. Why do we say that? Lord means owner or master and christ as a title means anointed by a lord or master."
awake!
"if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.
This is one of the articles that my dad photocopied for me from the bound volumes, when I told him I wanted to go to college to be a structural engineer.
Another article he copied for me stated that there was not enough time to even finish a four year education as the system would be over with by then.
This was in the 70's that we had this "discussion" and I reminded him of the false expecations for the year 1975, of which he had totally bought into. Unfortuneately, I didn't have the strength to leave the family and proceed with my better judgement. This is one decision I Kick Myself For day after day.
Again, How could my family have been so fooled by this corporation???? Bull S*****??????
i remember hearing about quickly builds how this was a sign of jehovah's spirit that the kh could be built in 3 days.
but what i am wondering is just how successful we're these builds.
i can think of a couple of halls that were built by the quickly built methods that i would suspect they would of lost money on.
Biometrics, I don't know where you live, but I remember that same line of thought that in the end days of the "end days" there would be people lining up for studies on the Kingdom Hall porch.
I worked on a Kingdom Hall with 300 seats in it. Afterward, It was always half full, except for the memorial, it was still comfortable but you could still find a seat, but it was full, AkA reaching capacity. Personally, I liked having a whole row to my family.

I appreciate all the personal experiences,.. this has helped me. I'm 50 and remember having to take a note home from my first grade teacher to my mother that said I was not allowed to bring any more books (Truth Books, etc) to other students or use the class to as an audience to "preach to . It was totally embarrassing. I wish I had a copy of the letter, my mom probably used it for an experience of how the world was persecuting her children.
The issue didn't go away when I went to music class because during times of the year the class would sing "seasonal" songs, but I had to personally explain to the teachers that I couldn't sing certain songs, all of this is in front of the class or at least where they could hear. We were instructed at the KH and by parents to not just sing but to give an explanation of why. This was all before any JW Education brochures.
I also had to personally explain to the teachers why I wouldn't salute the flag, or say the pledge and just stand, the National Anthem you remain seated. Here again, we just couldn't not say the pledge, we had to give an explanation as to why.
Some might incorrectly argue that this made me strong; but it just made me feel like I did not belong in society and like an ass. When I was in fourth grade I remember being asked by a student that lived in the neighborhood if I wanted to play catch. Just throwing the ball back and forth. My brother turned me into my parents for "associating with worldly people". My mom bought me a net that would bounce the ball back to me, therefore, I would not have to associate with worldly people again.
When I was in high school I had a friend that asked me over to his house so we could ride horses, as his family had several. (We both lived in the country) My dad protested and forbid me going because it was with a worldly person. I asked him outright, "Dad, do you go to lunch with some of the contractors that you work with"? and I named specific names. He eventually let me go ride horses. Unfortuneatly, even if you were "permitted" to go, you had a guilty conscience and couldn't just enjoy the situation, as you were in the midst of horible "worldly people". The Witness attitude affected everything.
