"The founding of the world"
by Yalbadaoth inwhy are wt determined to relate the "founding of the world" to abel and "before the founding of the world" to a period before abel but after adam's sin?
there seems like a lot of twisting of verses and words to prove a point which always makes me suspicious of their motives!
(i have my own take on it but would like to hear others).

slimboyfat it's more the fact that they place that point - "the beginning of humanity" - with the birth of Abel, rather than with Adam and Eve. As far as I can see, that is so they can then place "before the founding of the world" at some point after Adam's sin but before Abel's birth. Otherwise, they have a problem with scriptures that say things like Christ's role as redeemer and the heavenly calling were "foreknown before the founding of the world" because, that would place it before Adam and Eve sinned. Remember, to JWs, Christ as redeemer and the 144,000 was just a back up plan that came into effect after Adam's sin.

WT use Heb 4: 3 to link the "founding of the world" to a point after creation's completion. What would you make of that?

I think the reason this idea was abandoned is because "the book of life" includes inahabitants of the earth from "the founding of the world". If Adam and Eve are in that book then that places the "founding of the world" before Abel. WT insist the "founding of the world" relates to the birth of Abel because, if the "founding of the world" relates to Adam and Eve's creation, that would mean any scriptures referring to "before the founding of the world" would point to before the creation of Adam and Eve. Why is that a problem? Because there are scriptures that refer to the heavenly hope and Christ's role being known "before the founding of the world". If Christs role and the heavenly hope were known "before the founding of the world" or "before Adam and Eve sinned" then they have a big problem with their teaching that says - "christ was just a plan B that came into effect after Adam sinned". It would mean that Christ's role as redeemer and the heavenly hope were always part of God's plan, not just a post-sin after-thought, and that would, of course, punch a hole in their "everlasting life on earth was God's original purpose" theology.
