It's virtually already there, no reporting of time took this religion into mainstream, and the beard thing emphasized it. When you really can't tell the difference between a JW and a nonJw as clearly as you could even just 10 years ago, then you will definitely ask yourself what's the point?

People that seriously believe in God will turn inward for direction in life, the org will no longer be that banner.

I think you're seeing their long term plan in action actually. Chipping away at little things, seemingly little things bc the time reporting truly wasn't little. A couple more changes like these and the stage for 1914 will be set.

For the old guard, the beard thing may be just as bad. The old guard is seeing unprecedented changes. I know 100 elders, old and young, that must be saying WTF right now with the time reporting change and now the beard change. It communicates a major relaxation of the way things are done. But the old guard got older thinking that in the last days things would become MORE urgent, more finetuned, more severe... instead you can now decide for yourself what the word "ministry" is and wear beards...

It communicates to the old guard that they are likely much farther away from seeing Armageddon than they originally thought. Hell, the elders that studied with me were already saying 10 years ago that they were fearing living out this system. I don't know how the religion can keep saying the new system is just around the corner get ready, while at the same time changing rules to make things more lax.

But we must understand the purpose of the heavenly calling. It’s not just to come to a new exotic place, but to form a temporary 1000 year government to govern mankind, because mankind needs a perfect government until the whole mankind has matured in righteousness to the extent that they don’t need any supervisors anymore

Kosonen, this is my point. God indeed changed his original plan. So then, when does the Bible state, or even allude to the "fact" that things will go back to as they were in the beginning? Jesus never taught everlasting life on Earth. Neither did the apostles. No one ever talked about seeing Moses or David again. There's something missing here in the Greek scriptures about everlasting life on Earth. Perhaps I've forgotten it, although I still read the scriptures pretty regularly.

Leathercrop, if we assume that something is eternal --that it has always existed-- then there is no start point. It exists forever into the past. If that seems incomprehensible, that's because it is. At least to us, anyway. I cannot comprehend it. The notion of there never being a starting point simply doesn't compute. And yet, here we are

ah.. thanks for breaking that down Tonus. And yes, this is the type of stuff that often leads me to believe in God. Quantum physics, black holes, wormholes, mathematical infinities, dark matter... just some of the "realities" out there. What you described is similar to when physics theories start to fall apart, it's incomprehensible. These theories are so reliable we can send a ship into space and bring it back. Yet they do fall apart at the fringes. We don't have to go far, just the "hard" problem of how the animate can come from the inanimate alone, life from unliving matter is mindboggling. And yet, as you said, here we are.
