Encouraging scriptures for the day
by Kosonen inhello my friends,.
here are some encouraging scriptures for the day:.
revelation 21:2 i also saw the holy city, new jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from god and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.. hebrews 11:10 for he (abraham) was awaiting the city having real foundations, whose designer and builder is god.. revelation 21:24 and the nations will walk by means of its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.. revelation 22:1 and he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, flowing out from the throne of god and of the lamb 2 down the middle of its main street (of the holy city).

What do you say about this ? :Could Jehovah God abandon his original purpose with mankind?
Hi kosonen
Jehovah actually already did. In the beginning, according to the scriptures, man's place was on Earth...but after a series of unfortunate events and errors and their subsequent correction, he allows human beings into heaven... people like Paul and the other apostles...those who were selected at Pentecost...was this God's original plan? I don't think so. This was all part of God's "correction". Paul and everyone else would never, as far as we know, have been allowed into heaven had things remained as originally planned as there wouldn't have been a reason for it to begin with. There's also nothing in the scriptures that would indicate that those going to heaven are ever coming back to Earth, it's their permanent dwelling. Again, this wasn't the original plan.
I would argue that there are more scriptures alluding to mankind residing in "heaven" rather than on Earth in the future.

Are Atheists Hypocritical in Celebrating Christmas?
by Sea Breeze inrichard dawkins revealed that he celebrates christmas on radio four's today programme.. here is is quoted as saying: .
'i am perfectly happy on christmas day to say merry christmas to everybody,' dawkins said.
'i might sing christmas carols - once i was privileged to be invited to kings college, cambridge, for their christmas carols and loved it.

For Stephen Hawkins to celebrate anything remotely associated with religion, which Christmas most certainly is, makes him a hypocrite lol.

Were we really meant to live forever?
by Leathercrop inour capacity for adaptation (there's an official term somewhere) is apparently very vast.
meaning that whatever is a novelty always becomes old news and apparently it happens very quickly.
human beings in fact have to put a lot of effort into not discarding valuable things and relationships because of our overwhelming tendency to become incredibly used to it and just plain bored with them.

If you were given the choice, which one would you choose: a temporary life - 840 months, or a permanent one ?
Boogerman- after a literal trillion years of existence would we be able to tell the difference?
If you believe you are a spiritual being having a human experience you will not fear death at all.

I also agree we are more spirit than we tend to believe. And I guess this belief is at the root of my question. Everlasting life in a purely physical state seems rather illogical... even with the universe expanding (altho it mostly being over 90% dark matter... whatever that is ) what exactly is it that we could further experience after billions and billions of years of just being even "perfect" humans?. I think there is a ceiling as strictly human beings.
He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. - Jesus recorded in John 3: 18
Seabreeze- the entire Bible summarized in this verse...

My question - It is true that this is what JWs have been convinced of, but is it truly a clear teaching in the Bible?
Kosonen's answer -
How to obey Jesus in this regard?

Hehehe...I guess I stumped him...

The human experience is limited. Even if we transferred into so called intergalactic habitats , eventually we will run out of new things to experience. The concept of existing forever and ever and ever with nothing new to experience becomes rather odd.
The concept of everlasting life we may have embraced as JWs I think only seemed appealing out of the also natural fear of losing someone and something we love. But if that fear is eliminated, if we can never lose it does the idea of eternity then stop computing in our minds?

The additional claim that this man was also god made flesh, and that the whole thing was his plan from the start, requires far more than testimonials.
Tonus.
Exactly, we've crossed over into spiritual and mental territory when it comes to this subject.

Predictions for the next decade?
by jehovaxx inas it’s nearly the new year my prediction over the next decade or so will see the sense of urgency dwindle.
then some huge huge changes.
for example by 2034 in a decades time, they will have address the 1914 issue and will come out and say we can’t be dogmatic.

Im 45 years old, in 10 years I'll be 55. Damn, what a strange "place" the org will seem like compared to the 90s when I grew up in it. You don't even have to count time in service anymore, which to me is just the biggest deal ever, and will only be outdone when they scrap 1914. They've basically already done that too.

Proving or disproving the physical existence of Jesus is really only a distraction. Anyone that becomes a believer now does it as a result of a personal spiritual experience, not because they got to shake hands with Jesus.
I believe Jesus physically existed as described in the Bible...but even if he didn't, what would that change? My entire spiritual experience is not based on his physical existence or lack of it.
