Watchtower financial yearbook statements 1989-2016
by the comet insince the 2016 yearbook yearbook was released i've been tearing through the numbers, trying to figure a few things out.
i have several different projects i'm working on, and this is one of them.
i looked through all the yearbooks from the 1989 one through 2016, the only thing they really state about money is how much they spent on; special pioneers, missionaries, and traveling overseers.

Returning
by Doubtfully Yours ini was a member of this community a long time ago and have lurked for years.
well, i am back and still thoroughly conflicted, with my heart/loyalties as divided as ever.
please welcome me back, hear me out, and make me feel as welcomed as before.. the wtbts has changed so very much in recent years that i feel trapped in a completely different religion altogether.

Good to be back.
Well, welcome back!
I can honestly say that in the congregations I am not alone so we of like minds keep each other company while enduring the misery of the Organization.
So, it could've been worse, right? That's at least one bright side!
Also, you can keep us informed about what's going on in your congregation. I visited only 2 meetings since my fading 4 months ago, and can't listen to it anymore, but I still love to read the real life experiences from within this dying cult.

My Bethel Exoerience part 14 "The Courtship"
by new boy inmy strange bethel courtship started with me trying to meet mike stillman's sister, even though he worked in the ink room next to my elevator, we were not good friends, he was just a little to "country" for me........and on the self-righteous side too.
they say "there is nothing more dangerous in combat then a new guy with a map!
".........well, there was nothing more dangerous at bethel then a self-righteous new boy.. .

Thank you for all these incredible stories. My first week here has shown me how endlessly deep the rabbit hole is! Truth stranger than fiction? Yes, in JW world it certainly is sir! Off course we wanted out of this cult

Your Jehovah’s Witness Is Showing
by David_Jay insince i just signed up and posted a few times without doing this yet, here is my story..
i think that i became a jehovahs witness because of my immaturity.
i had some quirky personality traits, and i joined finding that i fit in because, as i said to myself: these people get me.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.
Randall’s mom, Eileen, spoke up. “You’re Jehovah’s Witness is showing,” she said.
Thanks for your intriguing story David-jay! There is a lot to read on this forum, but I'm glad that I took the effort to read all of your story. In fact, I learned from it. It showed me that I might need to excorcise more of my Borg-infected mindset than I tend to believe. Regardless the shame of being deceived, the brainwashing has proven to be very effective, no matter someone's intelligence. That's a fact

To all JDub lurkers: How can you continue to preach knowing that you are telling lies?
by macys inthis is a damn serious question.
you must know by now that jerusalem was not destroyed in 607 bce and that 607 was initially picked by ct russell by using his "pyramid scheme" measurements.
there is no hiding these facts yet you continue to preach this nonsense.

A damn serious question it is macys!
That's the reason I did my last hour last december. I went to zero in just four months, and only for the sake of my fading not to be too radical. How could anybody lie by showing "evidence" (Matthew 24 most cited) that we're living in the last days and that people need to hurry to get into the spiritual Ark (a.k.a. the Watchtower's Titanic) before it's too late? Any JW should know Russell believed the world was already so bad before 1914, that "his" last days started in 1799, Christ's parousia in 1874 and the end would come in 1914...COME ON!!!!

If Armageddon doesn't come soon, there's going to be a riot of Jehovah's Witnesses.
"And if there's anybody left in here
That doesn't want to be out there
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot"
(Kaiser Chiefs - "I Predict a Riot", 2004)

1872 - The Evening Prayer
by wifibandit inmost jehovah's witnesses believe that the book called the three worlds, published in 1877 by n.h. barbour and charles t. russell, was the first publication charles russell took part in publishing.. that is not true!.
in 1872 five years before the three worlds was published, charles t. russell and his father j.l.
russell published the evening prayer.. thanks wtunderground!.

Wow, what a find! Thanks for sharing.
Page 3: "Now to thee our songs we raise...Lord accept our evening praise...Send thy blessing from above..."
Did he receive his blessing or what? He received "light" that the last days began in 1799, Christ's parousia in 1874, his institution as heavenly King in 1878 and Armageddon in 1914...oh no, 1915.
Errr...wait a minute...

These vids make me happy, this new generation simply demands some sort of life after all. No free card to mess with the Borg of course, but some restricted form of rebellion anyway. It's a good thing for those held hostage in the cult.
At our wedding party in 2000, we had two closing songs that made us very happy and many danced to it, namely "Sultans of swing" (Dire Straits) and "I was made for loving you" (Kiss). At another wedding a few years later, a few brothers and me danced on a stage with make-up and the well known cleaning supplies from Queen's "I want to break free". At that occasion, one elder came to me, laughing, and said: "It was on the edge, actually a little bit over it." But no big deal really. They seem to acknowlege that it's healthy to let off some steam now and then ;-)

The disappointed look on a Jehovah's Witness face - that you're living a good and fulfilling life
by jambon1 inanother thread got me thinking of this issue.
i don't think you'll ever come across a set of people with such a skewed and twisted outlook on life.. my memory serves me well when i recall a sort of blood lusting excitement over things like the 9/11 atrocities.
in fact i remember jw's describing the event as 'sad but exciting.

I agree with everything you wrote. They seem to be thriving on bad news and in need of torture stakes in order to fulfill prophecy, but bad news already was so bad before 1914 that Russell believed the last days started in 1799! Held hostage since 1879, sad but true...
