Is it Time to Declare that The Great Tribulation Has Started ?
by OnTheWayOut ini don't really engage in doctrinal discussions about jw's anymore.
they seem to say some pretty crazy stuff.
but i have read some threads discussing doctrinal changes and how watchtower is really out of ideas and money at the same time.

You've posted an intriguing topic OnTheWayOut. Love this kind of stuff! You wrote:
I know this kind of thing goes against everything they learned since 1975, but they survived that and paid for modern presses with that debacle.
Those were times of financial growth, bethels everywhere, millions of mags and books, therefore Jah's blessing.
Now they are cutting costs like never before while the internet is shooting holes in every jw doctrine and exposing the pedophile scandals and their corruption of their own organisational history. Declaring the great tribulation now or within a short time would make it almost unbearable for the flock to endure until a paradise in 2034.
Also, the rumors for 1975 started in 1966, and became stronger in the next 9 years up 'til the "end" in 1975. That was one of their biggest mistakes! It wouldn't be wise to fuel expectations for 2034 already in 2016 or 2017 and repeat such a debacle again!
Just sharing my thoughts, that's what forums are for, right?

Jws are in the matrix but reversed, sort of.
by Crazyguy ini thought of this lastnight in light of these new assembly videos.
we have all seen posts about the comparison with the movie matrix but i think it's in reverse, here's what i mean.
the jw is in the matrix and yes are the batteries for the machine but instead of thier minds being all fun and happy and life being normal they are the ones being chased by the machines living in zion and thinking thier going to die at any moment.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts OneEyedJoe. I think even changing a core concept like 1914 would not have the same impact as declaring the great tribulation, because any delay of the end time would still be compatible with the WT's pathetic declaration that the end (Armageddon) is near, although we know those are empty words. The great tribulation however, can only be followed DIRECTLY by Armageddon. This would be the biggest deception EVER in WT's history, because so many lives directly depend on these events. You cannot mess with such a concept! If you do, only those who prefer the secure JW style of living in a bubble will stay.

How Long Does This Religion Have Left?
by pale.emperor inthe generation that will be no means pass away have passed away.. the 144,000 were sealed up in 1935, oh, no wait, we got that wrong, we still have some.. russel is the faithful and wise servant... oh, no he wasn't it was me, rutherford... no, actually, we got that wrong it's knorr... erm, no we mean the governing body.. shunning is pagan, true christians would never do that (1946)... oh, actually, we should do that too.. the revelation book has been re-written.. the un is the satan's visible organisation.. wtbs signs up for fellowship with the un in 1991.. exposed in the guardian newspaper so ends it's fellowship in 2001.. the greatest man book is now obsolete and replaced with another jesus book.. the mags are reduced in pages.. encouraged to use tablets instead of actual books to save paper (money).
halls being sold off.. congregations sharing halls.. society owned buildings being sold off.. video pertitioning for money only last year to fund a new building.. bethelites reduced.. missionaries sent back home.. young members leaving.. long time members discovering the history and leaving.. how long do you think this religion has left?
i cant see it being here in another 100 years.

I don't expect them to.
Once they dare to declare it...it would mean a relatively short countdown to big A. Since 1879, God's people would finally be able to bite that carrot!
Can you imagine the astronomical proportions of such a prophetic epic fail if big A wouldn't come? No more tricks to play! Would any sane person buy it? It would be time for the GB to disappear to some unknown, deserted island.

Does GB 2.0 Have The Guts To Publish A Book On Revelation?
by JW_Rogue inso we all know that the old revelation book is "old light" and the gb would like to sweep it under the rug.
however, since they have been reinterpreting many of the parables from the gospels, many jws are confused as to how it all fits in with the book of revelation.
plus, they have been emphasizing the nearness of the end and the gt.

It would also bring up the whole "the UN is the scarlet colored wild beast" that they have been trying hard to not mention lately.
The old narcissistic interpretations of Revelation ( such as making the trumpet blowing some convention in the USA in the 1920s) are far too daft for modern-day JWs to completely swallow - and the GB know it.
LOL Good observations JW_Rogue and steve2!
This book always has been my favorite (when we studied it during good ol' congregation book study meetings, it was a great opportunity for me to impress others and show my insights in deep 'truths', lol). I was a true metal head before my biblestudy and I loved all the beasts, mystic visions and references to stuff like Armageddon and 666
I guess the new "light" on types/antitypes (Wt march 15, 2015) has spoiled every trustworthy attempt to update this book
Maybe a better name should be Revelation—Its Grand ANTI-Climax at Hand!*** re chap. 1 p. 8 par. 8 Revelation—Its Happy Climax! ***
An even stronger reason for publishing this book is the need to keep up-to-date with present truth. [lol] Jehovah is continually shedding greater light on the meaning of his Word, and we can expect that our understanding of Revelation, along with other prophecies, will be sharpened as we draw closer to the great tribulation. [lol] (Matthew 24:21; Revelation 7:14) It is important that we be well informed. [lol] -

It's now okay to applaud when someone is reinstated?
by eyeuse2badub inanyone else notice that in the video where the sister was reinstated after many years of freedom, that the congregation applauded at the announcement of her reinstatement?
it been a few years since i was an elder, but when i was, we were instructed by the co that it was "not appropriate" to applaud when the announcement of a reinstatement is made from the platform.
his words, "because the one being reinstated is only doing what they should be doing!".

I remember a discussion in our BOE a few years back. One MS was complaining that it was only good to applaud in case someone was reinstated (a close friend of him actually was reinstated a week before).
Contrary to eyeuse2badub 's example of the co's unsatisfying comment, one long serving elder over here made this wise comment:
"You'll never know what effect the person's wrongdoing may have had on others, especially those who are still in that same congregation and are forced to listen to the applause.
He was so right, think about any reinstated "repentant" pedophile and the deep mental and physical scars he probably has left on others! Must be very traumatic to listen to the "dignified applause" and inevitable love-bombing if you ask me...
