  "We never solicit donations" - really?

  inspired by this weeks clam article which again "reminds" the brothers pdf their obligation/privilege to donate "voluntarily" i have complied a list of articles or videos in the last 5 years where donations are indeed solicited or encouraged.

  the society may argue that these are not actual solicitations because no plate was passed around.

  but a donation box is just a more discrete and subtle version of the plate.

  The Netherlands: Minister for Legal Protection wants Jehovah's Witnesses to conduct an independent investigation of sexual abuse

  meanwhile in the netherlands:minister dekker: jehovah's witnesses must review abuse policyin order to protect children better against abuse, the jehovah's witnesses must look back on catholics, according to minister dekker.

  but abuse victims think that this approach will not work.. minister sander dekker for legal protection wants the jehovah's witnesses to conduct an independent investigation of sexual abuse within the community, just like the catholic church.

  this is stated in a letter he sent this week to the parliamentary committee for justice and security.

  Great news jochie! Kudos to Dutch newspaper Trouw who is clearly giving attention to this JW abuse problem. They've already published three excellent articles regarding JW abuse on a row this year.

  I remember how the official Deetman commission (a bit similar to the ARC) released investigation findings that kicked the RC ass in 2011. It got quite some media attention. Although many people knew about the abuse, the Dutch in general were still shocked and many members left the already weakened Catholic church.

  Let's see if this "next step" will bring some light to the "truth" in the Netherlands.

  The letter to the congregations was a pathetic attempt to be as positive as possible (as always), but by reading these comments about specific information becoming less and less available, such as the number of memorial partakers you know where it must be hurting for the Borg.

  The WT can pull numbers out of their ass what they want, but as long as I hear friends and relatives tell about how JW's hardly come at their doors anymore, it's all bullshit to me. The decline IS real.

  Over 2 billions hours??? Pff... third world growth and zombie cart witnessing without a bible are not very impressive while being sooooooooooo close to the end.

  hi all.. it's being a while that i don't share in the forum.

  after moving to another country and finding a job, i asked my congregation in my country to send my publishing card here.

  once i did it, i stopped attending meetings.

  Congrats Skepsis, you did the right thing! I think most here will feel the same about why they didn't leave the Borg earlier (that includes me).

  Sure, life has its problems but getting rid of all those crazy WT restrictions and obligations is a HUGE improvement. So glad you are enjoying your freedom now.

  And... again the Borg looses an apointed brother! Congregations must feel the pressure as more and more MS/elders are falling away because of TTATT/"apostate lies", adultery, age and (mental) health problems... what a painful trend for the WT! If only the GB would reckognise where they've saddened the holy spirit and put themselves on a slippery edge... god are they stubborn and self-righteous!

  Brain tumor causes woman to become JW (4 times!)

  why one woman mysteriously started hearing 'divine' voices.

  after doctors admitted the woman to the psychiatric unit of the hospital, they learned that this wasn't the first time she felt a strong interest in religion and spirituality.

  she described four previous times in her life, beginning at age 13 and again at ages 23, 32 and 41, when she experienced periods of intense spiritual and religious devotion.during these periods, which lasted about a year or two, she would join jehovah's witnesses and then later resign, when she lost interest, according to the report.as part of her psychiatric evaluation, the woman also underwent an mri.

  What a story Anders... poor woman! So she heard divine voices and used to cut herself during psychotic periods. Without having any medical knowledge of someone's tumor/disease and what it can cause, a JW normally would be very cautious and suspicious of demonism/witchcraft.

  I wonder if she has ever claimed to be one of the anointed... would've been an awkward and delicate situation for the elders.

  I guess the 2017 convention theme "Don't give up!" was already far too late and doomed to fail. The tide will not turn for the Borg...

  Maybe a theme like "The benefits of google and the information age" would have drawn more truth-loving JW's.
