how'd you react?

Well well well, mr. Jackson...
Wouldn't it be presumptuous to claim that those "lies" come from Satan"?

WIN WIN WIN - all the time.
Until time's up. I'm waiting for "new light" regarding 1914 to become the biggest eye-opener of all modern JW history. I simply refuse to die before I see that day (hey, don't worry, I'm only 51 and happy as can be).

Think about this! All the signs of the last days from Matt.24. That jw's point to, happened in the 1st half of the last century!
by nowwhat? inand now it's 2018 and we are still here.
that's like saying back in 1930 the events of the civil war show we are in the last days!
it has now been that long!.

Yes, interesting stuff every thinking JW should consider.
Russell (and Rutherford 'til the late 20's) taught that 1799 marked the beginning of the "last days". That's very telling because every generation seems to "discern" the fulfillment of end-time prophecies.
JWfacts has (a link to) an impressive list of failed doomsday predictions since the 2nd century: www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/apocalyptic-end-of-world-predictions.php
A few years back, ex-president Obama was very positive about our time and he highlighted positive global developments regarding education, poverty, war, famine, child mortality etc. Needless to say that his speech would be branded as demonic propaganda by indoctrinated JW's. They, and nobody else! have the truth.

Noah`s day Flood ? ( again) Waters Covering Active Volcanoes ?
by smiddy3 ini know their have been many posts dedicated to this subject already and i apologize if this aspect has been handled before.. apart from the many other absurdities relating to the flood of noah`s day being literal as jehovah`s witnesses believe and already thrashed out here by the many posts previous.. i was wondering if this aspect has been considered that the waters would have had to cover over active volcanoes with what result ?.
their are a number of" active and resting" volcanoes at any one time around the earth and i`m just wondering if anyone more knowledgeable than me about the subject would like to weigh in and give their 2 cents worth in what effect a global flood covering volcanoes would have ?.
i am aware their are fissures in the deep oceans where volcanic activity occurs ,but is this the same ?.

Not a geologist either, but doesn't this already prove that vulcanic activity IS possible under water? So, I'm curious to know if the effects actually ARE relevant to disproving the flood in any way.

What is CT Russell's motive?
by sinboi inwhat is russell's motive when he started examining the bible with a group of bible students?

The 1976 yearbook has some "beautiful" stories about young Russell and his motives. We know how the WTBTS loves to polish and whitewash their organisational history, but I truly believe that in his first years, Russell was the most sincere and tolerant of all WT leaders (he was not the 1st president, as a side note). I believe that his obsession with bible-chronology (as part of finkelstein's 2nd point) was the spark and motivation that started the movement, not an evil masterplan to start a sect and gain control over people's minds and money. I think he really believed his own BS and might have even been surprised by his "succes". We know he got more doubts as 1914 came closer, but being seen as Jehovah's mouthpiece by his followers, he already had reached a point of no return. He invested money, and by writing a publishing, he was getting it back. This cumulating process sucked everybody in the loop of becoming business based religion.
The Russell that died was a completely different man as the Russell who started a bible study-group of 6 people. He became his own victim. We know he died a broken and disillusioned man but still the Watchtower 1919, oct. 1 p. 297 called him "one of God's great reformers and prophets." Sigh... proof that the organisation had no intention at all to come clean. Until the 20's, Rutherford continued to promote several false Russell dates. Therefore, I would nėver contribute any sincerity to Rutherford but young Russell at least gets some credit from me.

When You Die Would You Haunt The Governing Body? If It were Possible?
by Brokeback Watchtower ini've been reading a lot about reincarnation these days and i'm beginning to think that it quite possibly might be true, it seems to fit in nicely with the idea that we live in a computer simulation.. anyway according to the tibetan book of the dead when we die we seem to hang around on the earth waiting for rebirth.
at which time we could be ghosts.

Do you really believe you will have all this freedom in the realm of souls waiting for reincarnation? What if Rutherford's ghost is protecting this cult?

The secret fears - did you have any?
by days of future passed ini think many jw's have secret fears in common, but don't often voice them.
it's too bad because then they might wonder why?.
for instance, one day at work while i was talking to one of the witness ladies, (on her belief of some bible proof of the last days) she suddenly lowered her voice.

Yes I had them. My secret fear was...erm...
...wait... secret!

I want to talk with other people

Welcome Sammy12, there probably ARE some "real" JW's around here, but it is up to you if you want contact with them on this forum.
If, however, you want to test the claims made by the WTBTS/governing body, this is an excellent place.
Will you (metaphorically speaking) take the red pill and see how deep the rabbit hole is?
