Does GB 2.0 Have The Guts To Publish A Book On Revelation?
by JW_Rogue inso we all know that the old revelation book is "old light" and the gb would like to sweep it under the rug.
however, since they have been reinterpreting many of the parables from the gospels, many jws are confused as to how it all fits in with the book of revelation.
plus, they have been emphasizing the nearness of the end and the gt.

It would also bring up the whole "the UN is the scarlet colored wild beast" that they have been trying hard to not mention lately.
The old narcissistic interpretations of Revelation ( such as making the trumpet blowing some convention in the USA in the 1920s) are far too daft for modern-day JWs to completely swallow - and the GB know it.
LOL Good observations JW_Rogue and steve2!
This book always has been my favorite (when we studied it during good ol' congregation book study meetings, it was a great opportunity for me to impress others and show my insights in deep 'truths', lol). I was a true metal head before my biblestudy and I loved all the beasts, mystic visions and references to stuff like Armageddon and 666
I guess the new "light" on types/antitypes (Wt march 15, 2015) has spoiled every trustworthy attempt to update this book
Maybe a better name should be Revelation—Its Grand ANTI-Climax at Hand!*** re chap. 1 p. 8 par. 8 Revelation—Its Happy Climax! ***
An even stronger reason for publishing this book is the need to keep up-to-date with present truth. [lol] Jehovah is continually shedding greater light on the meaning of his Word, and we can expect that our understanding of Revelation, along with other prophecies, will be sharpened as we draw closer to the great tribulation. [lol] (Matthew 24:21; Revelation 7:14) It is important that we be well informed. [lol] -

It's now okay to applaud when someone is reinstated?
by eyeuse2badub inanyone else notice that in the video where the sister was reinstated after many years of freedom, that the congregation applauded at the announcement of her reinstatement?
it been a few years since i was an elder, but when i was, we were instructed by the co that it was "not appropriate" to applaud when the announcement of a reinstatement is made from the platform.
his words, "because the one being reinstated is only doing what they should be doing!".

I remember a discussion in our BOE a few years back. One MS was complaining that it was only good to applaud in case someone was reinstated (a close friend of him actually was reinstated a week before).
Contrary to eyeuse2badub 's example of the co's unsatisfying comment, one long serving elder over here made this wise comment:
"You'll never know what effect the person's wrongdoing may have had on others, especially those who are still in that same congregation and are forced to listen to the applause.
He was so right, think about any reinstated "repentant" pedophile and the deep mental and physical scars he probably has left on others! Must be very traumatic to listen to the "dignified applause" and inevitable love-bombing if you ask me...

Feeling Sad After Uncovering TTATT
by pale.emperor inmy initial pangs of unease and doubt led me to research some things.
well, a lot of things really.
i've never felt comfortable using the bible to try to calculate dates (1914).

Pale, I truly feel sorry for your state of mind in this early stage of awakening. I feel your pain, I really do. At the same time it's a wonderful step to accept TTATT and that takes honesty and a lot of courage, congrats on that too...you DID IT!
You wrote:
People dont just "stop going", they "become weak and fall away". Or they "leave Jehovah".
All I can say is that time does heal. My wife and children accepted TTATT immediately after me and as a family it took us only 2, 3 meetings before we DID stop going 100%. We didn't want to expose ourselves to the WT lies and indoctrination any longer, and we still feel good about that crucial step. As an ex-elder, I knew how to play the game and avoided to be disfellowshipped. Looking back at the past 8 months of our fade, we can only say it worked well for us... (so far!)
But... every situation is different, I'm sure you may need more time. Time for yourself to heal, and time for a good fading strategy for the near future. Many who are not able to get out, just protect themselves by thinking about other things during the meetings, just observing the body language of Borg captives, or even reading social media or "apostate" websites on their tablets/smartphones. They also "vote" with their wallet, by not allowing one single penny to disappear in the belly of the beast! I'm sure you'll find a lot of comfort and similar situations on this forum...many suggestions already have been given here, so read and/or ask and choose what works best for you.
I wish you all the best in your situation and always remember...you're not alone!

Demon possesion, bunch of crap or?
by raven ini've been using the forum to vent and post a lot more frequently lately as a venting purpose & way to obtain peace of mind with the craziness i've been going through recently as i fade away form the org.
anyways today i'm sitting here at work and thinking to myself about demons... ok i know this sounds crazy but has anyone else out there been traumatized by the thought of demons?
i had a dream the other night, just flat out spooky and i woke and couldn't help but feeling it may have been evil ole' satan and his demons at it again.. i don't want to believe that, (trying not to, & just brushing it under the rug so to speak) but have any of you out there been talked up about demons?

If demons really would exist, they would've slaughtered us all by now!
Some "possessions", like the one of Anneliese Michel, look scary as hell, but hey (like Cofty mentioned), many generations before us were superstitious as hell, so it might be still a bit in the blood, so to say (and Hollywood thrives on it).
A possible explanation could be found in the realm of psychiatry (see wikipedia's section below):
Psychiatric treatment[edit]
In June 1970, Michel suffered a third seizure at the psychiatric hospital where she had been staying. She was prescribed anti-convulsion drugs for the first time, including Dilantin, which did not bring about immediate alleviation. She began talking about seeing "devil faces" at various times of the day.[3] That same month, she was prescribed another drug, Aolept, which is similar to chlorpromazine and is used in the treatment of various psychoses includingschizophrenia and disturbed behavior; in her case possibly spiritual delusions.[4] In depression by 1973, she beganhallucinating while praying, and complained about hearing voices telling her that she was "damned" and would "rot in hell".[6] Michel's treatment in a psychiatric hospital did not improve her health and her depression worsened. Long term treatment did not help either, and she grew increasingly frustrated with the medical intervention. Being a devout Catholic, she began to attribute it to demonic possession. Michel became intolerant of sacred places and objects, such as the crucifix.[3]
Michel went to San Damiano with a family friend who regularly organized such pilgrimages to "holy places"—not officially recognized by the church.[7] Her escort concluded that she was suffering from demonic possession because she was unable to walk past a crucifix and refused to drink the water of a holy spring. Both she and her family became convinced and consulted several priests, asking for an exorcism.[6] The priests declined, recommended the continuation of medical treatment, and informed the family that exorcisms required the bishop's permission. In theCatholic Church, official approval for an exorcism is given when the person strictly meets the set criteria, then they are considered to be suffering from possession (infestatio) and under demonic control. Intense dislike for religious objects and "supernatural powers" are some of the first indications.[5] Michel worsened physically and displayed aggression, self-injury, drank her own urine and ate insects. In November 1973, Michel started her treatment withTegretol, an anti-seizure drug and mood stabilizer. She was prescribed anti-psychotic drugs during the course of the religious rites and took them frequently until shortly before her death.[4][8]
In 1984, the bishops made a petition to the Vatican regarding the exorcism rite and a commission passed on the decision that she was mentally ill, not possessed.

Amended URL for "1919" presentation
by Doug Mason inas the result of feedback and comments, i made some minor adjustments to the presentation on the watchtower's method for calculating 1919. these adjustments are so minor that i doubt whether most people will notice them.
i guess i am a bit of a pedant.. anyway, the urls for the touched-up files are:.

Thank you Doug, very interesting.
We often focus on 1914, but maybe it's even more bizar how Rutherford claimed/took his authority in 1919 in true apostolic succession-style! Creepy...

"Just don't overthink the truth"
by stuckinarut2 inso after almost a year of complete inactivity and non attendance, i ran into a nice brother from the local congregation.. after some nice chit-chat, he says "we really miss you and your family...etc...you were always the kind and supportive one, the approachable and encouraging one in the congregation.
your absence has confused so many".
i thanked him and said "oh no, no individual has stumbled us.

Thanks stuckinarut2.
Same story here. At first "they" thought I needed some rest and more family time. That was 8 months ago. Last elder that visited me told me the congregation doesn't understand.
lol, I will teach them TTATT if they need an explanation, but suddenly no one dares to visit me anymore...
I think deep in their hearts, they KNOW...
