To Fade or Disassociate

hello to all, so i did want to talk about this topic because i think it is very important to me.

i have a grandfather who faded several decades ago.

he occasionally attends an assembly and the memorial but no longer attends meetings or goes on field service.

I wasn't even familiar with the term fade until after I disassociated. Unfortunately, I was naive and still playing by the borg's rules, so I didn't realize that was an option. Plus I wanted to stop the harassment from the elders, who kept trying to meet with me.

Novice, I know you´re relatively new on this forum and I feel sorry for your late ''discovery'' of what a fade is and what the elders did to you. There is so much to learn from this forum.

I had the advantage that my fade in late 2015 went super fast for me and my whole family. After asking questions about 1914 and the problems with child abuse I noticed the refusal of the elders to acknowledge the facts and humble themselves and I only visited 2 public talks and went to 0 hours in 3 months. The last visit of a friendly elder must have been the summer of 2016 so I hadn´t much to complain about. I know that not everyone is lucky, I´ve read about so many different situations on this forum. It all depends on the circumstances. I agree with dubstepped that it can also be a principal decision as well...out is out so to say, but hey, so far my fade feels good but I also know that things can suddenly change. I sometimes dream of a YouTube career lol.

I faded 100 %, it was the best thing for me because it gave me the opportunity to still associate with a few good witnesses who I can trust. I´m a mild activist and drop little pieces of TTATT here and there.

If I ever (after a few years maybe) would choose to practice more aggressive activism and would still be found ¨guilty¨ by a j.c., I would consider to disassociate myself instead of being disfellowshipped. They don´t deserve to have any power over me, but that might be the consequence if I would ever go full throttle.

hello, i've been lurking for quite some time here on this forum, reading a whole lot and i've finally made the courage to create an account as a form of escape and in hopes to be understood and not feel "mentally diseased".

little background on me, i am a born in but i consider myself a pimo (physically in mentally out).

i feel like i've always had doubts but these doubts would sink with the meetings and the assemblies and every other little thing that drowns any doubts a witness may have.

Hello and welcome Jules! Coming to this forum and creating an account is a huge step, you won´t regret this step, it gives you great access to all information and personal experiences here and we all appreciate some background info.

Isn´t it strange when you realise that the quest for truth doesn´t stop at all with the WT´s version of `truth`? I definitely took my red pill in 2015 and I was shocked how deep the rabbit hole was. Organised religion is man made, that´s for sure.

Good luck, your journey has just begun but remember, you´re not alone! Keep on going!

Call for investigation into JW child abuse in the Netherlands

after yesterday's newspaper articles about how jw (mis)handle child abuse cases, today the newspaper reports that both members of the national house of representatives, and the national commissioner on human trafficking and sexual violence against children are petitioning the minister / secretary of state to launch an investigation into jw and other closed religious communities.. the newspaper article (in dutch).

the newspaper also published the personal story of a victim, and how he fought for justice within jw to no avail.this story is from my home town (just few years before i move there), different congregation in the same hall..

I know of at least one person who'll send an email to misbruik@trouw .nl about an abuse case in their congregation in the past and how JW didn't properly handle it.

I´m sick and tired of the constant denial by WT and their distraction of these scandals by focusing on the Russian events/ban, things that fit their agenda. Collectively, the Dutch seem to have missed/ignored the 2015 ARC hearings but hopefully now it´s time to finally face the facts.

Btw I never understood why - apart from the Catholic Church - no investigation was done around here.

Me too, it was quite ironic that straight after the 2011 Deetman papers (who have done some serious damage to the RCC) the Candace Conti case triggered a whole new global awareness of problems within the WT in 2012. ARC followed in 2015 that opened many eyes and now we can finally see how the Dutch will react to the inconvenient truth...

Thanks for sharing Anders, I've been waiting for this day to come...hellelujah (hell for the wt). As yesterday's article made clear...there are victims who refuse to contact the police/authorities because of the first verses of 1 Corinthians chapter 6, that's sad...very sad. Hopefully the heat of an official investigation will strenghten them to step up against the WT FOG tactics and policies.

In 2011 the Deetman commission dealt with the history of abuse within Dutch Roman Catholic institutions. The witnesses were relieved that the sins of that prominent part of Babylon were finally exposed with regard to the public.

Oh how the tables have turned...(to be continued).

Huge article(s) in Dutch media on JW child abuse

so today the well-respected and serious newspaper trouw.nl came with child abuse within the jw as their topmost frontpage article.. the articles are well researched and aim primarily at the dutch jw situation.. afaik at least on member of this forum assisted the newspaper with the articles.

I'm giving up in 2017! (More steps in my fading)

when i joined this site at the beginning of this year, i was serving as an uber-zealous regular pioneer and ms in a foreign congregation where the need is greater.

i was giving public talks and having parts at regional conventions.

had started to have doubts but i hadn't time to focus on them, i simply was overcharged with so many activities and things to do.. i started by quitting pioneering but couldn't think i would give further steps for a long time.

Kudos to you Skepsis...you have a good set of cards! A good fade will protect you from any participation in spreading WT lies. Maybe you can find other ways to chat with your friends, but at least you remained loyal to your own standards and moral/intellectual integrity. I think keeping up appearances in WT la-la-land can make someone sick! Unfortunately some don't have a choice (they deserve our respect and thank g*d they can vent at places like this forum), but you have, so... good luck with all your remaining steps in 2017!

My Introduction

this is my first post and i'm feeling like i'm doing something bad big time!

i know on my mind it isn't, but the feelings are less manageable.. well, since i'm still a jw it's better not to give too much info, but i'm from brazil.. i've grown-up in the religion and practicly all my family, my closest friends and my girlfriend are loyal jws.

i used to be a regular pioneer but i still have a service privilege on my congregation.. i've had questions about the teachings of the wt since i was 10, but naturally i always pushed it away as it were "questioning the holy organization".. i started a friendship with some people in a course i took and we talked about a lot of subjects.

Welcome, good you took the step to register because this forum sure is not a road to nowhere . No, it's a road to reason, advice, comfort, to vent and sometimes (if you want) a heated debate.

Try and search this forum...there are tons of similar experiences to find. Maybe you'll find some inspiration when and what to say to your kids/grandkids.
