  After 10 years do they give up on you (hoping so)

  i think i read somewhere that if you have been inactive for ten years plus, the elders will not try to meet with you and corner you to get you back "in".

  is that true?.

  i just realized that mr. spiral and i haven't gone to meetings or reported time for over ten years.

  There is no 10y rule, I also think many elders are too old and tired and certainly not motivated to watch over "lost" sheep for so long.

  I can confirm however (like wasanelderonce said) that in my old cong there is this unwritten policy that it does matter if someone is still viewed as a JW by the general public. Smoking, celebrating "pagan" holidays etc. can still be a reason to be disfellowshipped.

  I was damned lucky to already be left alone by the elders after 8, 9 months of my fade and 6 months after my last (fake) field service report. Not even an official invitation for the memorial.

  I probably know too much and also their observation that we soon stopped praying might have left them with no hope... lol

  Gorby, morally you're 100% right about what you said in your OP. That basically is a normal human point of view.

  These seven guys however fu€%ing believe they will be higher than angels (!) and that Christ needs their assistance to kick satan's ass and to exterminate seven billion people. In JW la la land everything already is different, but if you believe you are Jah's appointed Guardians Of Doctrine, proclaiming Armageddon in the last days of satan's system, well... you bow to no man.

  I know you know all this...but it's good to vent Gorby, we all need that now and then.

  i was watching a fascinating ted-ex video on hypnosis and hypnotism with a friend.

  my friend wondered if the jws new music might have a hypnotic suggestion buried somewhere in it which gets everyone in attendance to listen and absorb stuff that is totally irrational for the entire program.

  ending with a second subliminal message in the final song along the lines of "you will snap out of this state when you next hear the word amen.

  what are everyone's thoughts on this, how his legs weren't broken, he was pierced with a spear and he wore a thorny crown?.

  i'm pimo and very much not wanting to believe, but like the daniel statue prophecies, these ones about jesus stick in my mind and give me "hmmm, maybe" moments..

  Calling Cofty and others regarding evolution

  so i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.

  i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.

  i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

  Climbing Mount Improbable by Richard Dawkins answers very easily how an eye can see...he explains the many possibilities of the evolution of it.
  Just read an do research before spouting off nonsense or posting questions without researching the answer yourself.

  Notsurewheretogo, I am always intriguid by such claims that sound very, very convinced, but...

  Very easily? Because Dawkins explains the many possibilities of the evolution of it?

  What does he explain other than modern biology and anatomy? I've seen video's where he connects the dots with video's and animations of modern living species but at the same time he ignores vital parts such as the supposedly evolution of the eye's nerve system and how incredibly complex codes are processed..

  How are you sure that all those possibilities can be applied to real natural processes? We haven't observed it, we cannot reproduce it, fossils show already complex eyes during the cambrian, so how can someone really know the gradual evolutionary proces from bottom-up?. Why claim "fact" instead of "maybe" or "we don't know (yet)"?

  I believe there is much more time and observation needed before such evolutionary claims can be made with absolute certainty.

  I remain sceptical as more research needs to be done...

  Anyone struggle to find meaning in life?

  just wondering if this is a common thing for you guys and girls?

  when i left the jws it was hard to make a connection with people, much of the time i felt that whatever they wanted to talk about just didn't seem relevant/deep/meaningful.

  i find myself filtering my mind to get to a level with others (small talk mostly).

  Yeah, going from JW to christian to agnostic was a struggle, but it also was a natural and honest process.

  The only meaning I can find is this life. I have no proof of something else.

  An Active JW Sister Modelling For Me

  since leaving the borg i jumped both feet first into classes i've always wanted to do but was never "allowed" to.

  two of which are life drawing and photography.

  i've been studying for almost two years now and have seen more nude men and women in our classes than i care to remember.. today in the photography studio i was working in with three others (two women, one man) we were told we had a new person modelling for us.

  If The Governing Body Gave Running The Corporation Over To AI?

  what if the gb in desperation gave over their position as god(guardians of doctrine) and allowed ai to do a complete make over of policies to bring back profitability and avoid bankruptcy.. what kind of changes do you think artificial intelligence with some very good deep mind learning algorithm would make to policies to shield the corporation from further lawsuit in the future.

  what type of policies would it develop in short order to save this corporation from going belly up?
