I experienced fake news regarding myself. During my fade there was this story that I was visiting meetings in another congregation in another town.
The truth? I never did!
Fake news might have helped my case anyway! lol

by stuckinarut2 inso we have all heard the worldwide reports about khalls being sold off and congregations being amalgamated etc.... of course, jws are being told that these actions are a sign of "just how much the work is progressing, and how jehovah is blessing the increase and expansion!".
i can share the following from my part of the world too!.
in perth, western australia the following has occurred.. three "new" congregations have been formed!

Hanged Man, I have been both baptised Catholic and baptised JW, now agnost, never to join a manmade religion again, but... the corruption of the RCC is not the issue. That is a proven fact. It is the comparison between the so called one and only true religion on earth, JW and the ones they have always condemned, the RCC, being the most prominent part of false religion, Babylon The Great. Like diogenester said...the pope at least has the humility to face the public and personally apologise on behalf of the church... the least a christian could do in order to show some humanity. They have lost members because of abuse and finally they acknowledge this, no more beating around the bush. Even if it's just symbolic, not sincere and much too late, an apology is already MORE than what the WT has done. WT promises to look at things and even to study the RCC (satan's pride!) but in reality they don't give a shit, continue to deceive their own members and remain arrogant. What does this tell you about the true face and morality of the WT? Spirit directed by Jah? Hell no... so it''s all about perspective here. WE see it, but it's time the PUBLIC sees it too and how this is more than just human imperfection. Let common sense be the judge of this organisation.

Darn, the cartoon didn't make it to the OP, but here it is.
I'd like to add that it is ridiculous that the WT is claiming to study the measures of the Catholic Church but that a simple "sorry, we apologise to all the abuse victims" is a bridge too far.
Remember how during the ARC Geoffrey Jackson lied about "apologies" that in fact have never been made?
How can JW's tell others not to lie and to have the highest moral (biblical) standards?

After 10 years do they give up on you (hoping so)
by Spiral ini think i read somewhere that if you have been inactive for ten years plus, the elders will not try to meet with you and corner you to get you back "in".
is that true?.
i just realized that mr. spiral and i haven't gone to meetings or reported time for over ten years.

In the article, the official response from Michel van Hilten, Dutch spokesperson for the Jehovah's Witnesses, was:
"We are going to study the measures of the Catholic Church," ...the board, based in Emmen, has already taken 'a great deal' of measures 'in line with what other organizations do'. When asked what that means in practice, he says: "You can think of things like monitoring and following perpetrators of child abuse."
Well, the RCC have already made several apologies, right? So...isn't it remarkable that the JW organisation is talking about monitoring and following pepetrators (which is a good thing IF applied) but after all the scandals in USA, Canada, England, Australia and now The Netherlands they still can't seem to find the guts to make official apologies FIRST???

There is no 10y rule, I also think many elders are too old and tired and certainly not motivated to watch over "lost" sheep for so long.
I can confirm however (like wasanelderonce said) that in my old cong there is this unwritten policy that it does matter if someone is still viewed as a JW by the general public. Smoking, celebrating "pagan" holidays etc. can still be a reason to be disfellowshipped.
I was damned lucky to already be left alone by the elders after 8, 9 months of my fade and 6 months after my last (fake) field service report. Not even an official invitation for the memorial.
I probably know too much and also their observation that we soon stopped praying might have left them with no hope... lol

Gorby, morally you're 100% right about what you said in your OP. That basically is a normal human point of view.
These seven guys however fu€%ing believe they will be higher than angels (!) and that Christ needs their assistance to kick satan's ass and to exterminate seven billion people. In JW la la land everything already is different, but if you believe you are Jah's appointed Guardians Of Doctrine, proclaiming Armageddon in the last days of satan's system, well... you bow to no man.
I know you know all this...but it's good to vent Gorby, we all need that now and then.
