Do You Tip At Eateries?

if you go to a restaurant, do you tip and typically how much?

if you were given a 90 minute time frame to eat at a restaurant, would that restriction limit your tipping to the waitress or waiter?.

also if you order a coffee and donut and pick it up, do you contribute to the “tip jar” that’s on the counter?

I have started asking the waiter/waitress if the service charge which has been added to the bill goes directly to them. If it does, I opt to keep the service charge in with the main bill and I pay it all together. If the waiter/waitress says the service charge goes towards staff salaries/costs etc (which I think is not allowed in some countries any more) I do not include it in the main payment. I opt to have it removed from the bill. I then pay the bill and on my way out I give the waiter/waitress cash.

I am not sure if this is the best way to do it, but I hate to think the restaurant adds the service charge and then keeps it. Am I doing this right?

If I buy a coffee or cake at the counter, I always put some change in the tip jar. I am assuming the staff share it out. I'd hate to think the restaurant owner keeps it

the non-profit organization behind the jehovah's witnesses in kraainem, belgium has been convicted of inciting discrimination and hatred or violence against former members who chose to leave the community.

the court in ghent has fined jehovah's witnesses eur 12,000 but due to the indexation adjustment, the actual payout to the victim will be (at this point) 8 times higher.

the multiplier seems weird to us, for those familiar with us law, the eur 12,000 is the statutory fine, taking into account the devaluation of currency, the court system sets an indexed multiplier for fines, currently at 8 - similar to how fines in the us were set in the 1800's at $100 would now be several thousands of dollars.. it is likely that the jehovah's witnesses will pursue this case to the european court.. according to the prosecutor, this case is therefore mainly about recognizing the malpractices within the community, not so much about sanctions: “in our opinion, this is a blatant violation of the discrimination law.

Hi all - I used to be a member years ago but sort of lost touch.

I am so pleased this is happening. The JW org is so full of hate and bile it makes me want to puke. When you see them all nicely dressed in their little family groups, or listen to their 'nice' music or watch their videos, they give the impression they are full of peace and love, but I know this to be so untrue. I hate this organisation for what it has done to my family and millions of others.

What a shame the fine is only €12,000. I hope the bad publicity gives all JW leaders nightmares, the poisonous little turds!
