That is awesome, married. Sounds like you know how to handle things without being confrontational. I hope you keep dropping seeds, cause you know your wife certainly is. Well done! Have a great weekend!

Has leaving the truth( i hate that word) caused you to do things now that you would not have normally done ?
by sieborg inalthough we all know that there are many disadvantages of being brought up ( vomit sound) in the truth.
but would you say that leaving has maybe caused you to do some things that you would not have normally have done in life ?
for me personally now i have lots of free time ( mine all mine, evil laugh) i have almost finished my first novel.

It's not the truth, sieborg, so you don't have to call it that. Old habits die hard, don't they? You could perhaps just call it the WT.

Retrovirus is absolutely correct in saying NO MONEY OR HANDOUTS. It will be a harsh reality check for him. A 21 y.o. with no job experience and only (I assume) a high school education does not get to be picky And please consider using your status as head of the household in telling your wife she is not to give him spending money, either. While it sounds harsh, you are doing him no favors. He will be ill equipped to handle the future if things continue on like this. Job or school. And please find a way to keep your 8 y.o. from the kh as much as possible, and active with outside friends/activities. All the best to you. I hope you and your oldest son can prevent losing your other children to this religion.

Unbelievable Assertion!!!!!!!
by The Searcher inwe had our special assembly day this weekend.. what the district overseer stated in his talk totally stunned me, and made me feel sick to my stomach.
he said, "christ is directing us through the governing body, and we cannot get holy spirit except through them!".
i do not wish to reveal all my thoughts on his statement, but i pray to god that it acts as a wake-up call to at least some of the audience.. suffice to say that the gb is now the mediator to our mediator, and from now on, i will have to pray for holy spirit through the name of the gb!!.

Thankyou dad, for making me think...
by Aussie Oz inson was up visiting today and we had some great little chats about all things watchtower.
i would say the chances of him going back are real slim now, for he was telling me of some of his own wtf research on the internet about them.. anyway, at one point he came up, gave me a big hug and said "thankyou for making me think".
it seems that all the little seed dropping and question dropping over the last 3 years really did work!

That is awesome! I'm sure you have given hope to many who are trying to help their children and other family members out. It may take a while, but the reward is so worth it!

JW businessman's email about the UN and false religion
by Las Malvinas son Argentinas ini was shown a hard copy of an email from a purported jw businessman who claimed he had contact with some un officials as part of his 'business'.
in conversation, he claimed that he blurted out and asked them when they were going to clamp down on religion as foretold in jw prophecy.
according to the account, the un official acted startled, and asked 'how do you know?'.

Interesting moment on subway today & other thoughts
by sd-7 ini was heading home today, and i saw one woman reading a new world translation.
we made eye contact, but i hope i didn't glare at her or anything... since i was already having a bout with depression today, it didn't help to see her.
so then she gets off the train, right?

sd-7, I'm certainly no expert, but it sounds like you may just be on the cusp of depression. Please find activities that you enjoy, several, hopefully, and engage in them. Do you like working out? Do you belong to gym? You could go on your wifes meeting nights. Great stress reliever! Volunteer? Local clubs (lions club, kiwanis, some local community club?) that you have an interest in that you could join? Don't know your story, but if you believe in God, is there a church you belong to you could become more active in? Are you interested in politics? Many groups to join that would share your beliefs.
Do you and your wife do couple things once in a while on her non-meeting nights? Please consider the fact that YOU DESERVE TO LIVE THE BEST LIFE YOU CAN! Do what makes you happy.

Discussion with family member who is an Elder in our congregation
by Newly Enlightened inso about a week ago, i showed my cousin & her husband [an elder in our congregation] the picture on pg 29 of our 4/15/2013 study wt and asked, "if jesus is head of the congregation then where is he?".
after several minutes of searching, dead silence.. i then asked if they had heard the part on the 2012 summer district conv the part about "our spiritual mother, where the c.o said that "the bible by itself does not shine thru as life-giving truths just by itself.
" they were shocked and said that i must have misheard it because that would be apostasy.

Wow, the WT truly does a tremendous job of brainwashing, doesn't it?! They are presented with real, reasonable, logical, indisputable evidence, and deny it.
