Cool! His version is better. (Except for that totally gay jazz opening... What the hell?!)
I'll take this one down unless someone needs it.
Goodboy.
[i was gonna title this thread "everybody lamb-chung tonight", but i thought it might be in bad taste...].
i digitized the segment and posted it at the link below.
it's 7mb, but if you have windoze, it should stream to you (meaning you can watch it while it downloads).

NOTE: Please find some mirrors for this file. If the bandwidth gets too high, I'll have to take it down. Enjoy!

can't you see how the wt is getting ready to screw you?
just one month ago we saw bowen call hq (posing as an elder) and the legal dept.
tells him:.
It's late but I can't stop my brain...
Power struggles like this happen all the time. If I was the President of the WTBTS right now, here's what I'd say to those key guys next to me:
"Congregations are going to be split in half by this matter. Since we are in the wrong and we know how deep this goes and how many molestors are hidden in the org, the only way to perform damage control is to split the trouble congregations up. ANY congregation with a "problem elder" gets broken up immediately. We know how to do this because we do it all the time. The friends are then arranged into new, smaller congregations that can be controlled (PO, Sec. selected by us), and in the interim, we can disfellowship whomever we want with a minimum of trauma. After a month or so, the new congregation will be built with appropriately loyal core members.
"The thing that makes this situation different is that we will have to shut down congregations located in rural areas, where there are not enough publishers to form new ones. In these cases, we are going to have to do something new: The Kingdom Hall will be closed.
"We'll draft a letter in these cases that explaining why it is necessary to shut the hall down for a while. Such a letter will not be doubted by the rank and file if we move quickly enough. In an average hall of 100 pubs, we can break it up into small, managable groups of 10, with an appropriately loyal brother acting as direct liason to the Society, and then advising his home group. We may have to use less-experienced brothers, but they will be far more loyal than the old dogs anyway. Meetings will be held in the same format but at home like the bookstudy."
This was always the reason for the bookstudy anyway--to provide a system of meetings that can go underground when the "tribulation" starts.
If I'm in charge, I know the org is gonna take a huge hit. I know what's gonna go down. But, the majority of the members can still be kept with a few simple changes.
I only write this out to give elders an idea of what's going to happen. If you are an elder, how will you respond? I guarantee that they _already_ know if you're loyal or not and they've _already_ got the pimply-faced MS who'll replace you. That's the beauty of the WTBTS: They've got the channel set up so that they can plug _any_ dumb schmoe in and have him be an elder.
...I should get some sleep.

Watcher, you mention an excellent point:
Somewhere out there is a P.O. who cares. I'm talking to him:
Believe this: Just like Eli was humbled, so will the WTBTS be corrected by Jehovah and it's gonna happen real quick. Right now, you should make a phone call to a lawyer, pay him the few hundred bucks for a consultation and have him ready for your phone call. You aren't commiting a sin, so just do it. Then, take the elders and friends you trust and tell them privately, "We are not going to let _anyone_ divide us, not even the society. If they break up this congregation, we must have a plan to stay in touch."
They are gonna start shutting congregations down right and left because of what's coming. It is far, far bigger than has been revealed. They'll eventually start counter-suing elders for libel.
Realize that they have a multi-million dollar legal budget and well trained legal JW puppets who will be happy to carve you up in court like a Christmas turkey. W hen this moment comes, the people who will save you will be the friends in the congregation who really do love you. Find out who they are now.
You will find very quickly how much "Jehovah" loves you, at least through the WTBTS.

i'm in california and just tuned in to cnn @ 8:00 and there was 1/2 hour of connie chung about kidnapped kids, but nothing about bill bowen, the two girls, or the wts.
anyone know what happened?

Sunspot: Your hubby is a Sox fan? I like him already.
Don't worry about the Bowen segment, I'm working on a digitized version of the clip and expect to have a link posted tomorrow.
Goodboy.
Elsewhere: I have it digitized with DIVX, but the volume is too low. I had to run to work before I could get it right. I'm working with a new XP box and need to tweak my software. I expect to have a 4 to 5 meg digitized version within the next 12 hours. Do you think that size will be best?
Can you stream .WMV files from your site? Might be the best way to handle it if we're expecting large bandwidth demands. Personally I'd predict under 10 simultaneous streams at any time, but that will change as interest grows in the next 30 days. What kind of bandwidth can you handle?
The other option is what I'm planning which is to just make it a simple MPG or AVI with a common codec and let folks download it. I could have a small bandwidth version too. Then we could send the link to silentlambs.

Bleep,
The issue is not primarily disfellowshipping. Persons have been disfellowshipped for far more inane reasons than this, as you know.
The issue is that the Watchtower does not allow the sister to go to the police.
Do you get it now? I suspect you already did, but nice try.

"leave it to Jehovah. Do not report this."
...and now we hear the BIG LIE tonight:
"We would never tell an elder not to go to the police"
Fellas, they're settin' each one of you up to be personally liable for every committee meeting, sheparding call and back-room conversation you ever had. You have no proof of their orders because it's all verbal (why did you think the Pay Attention book was so vague?). Think about it: All high-level orders from HQ are _verbal_ and anything that's written down is only accessible by the secretary.
At this very moment, 8/14 2002 12:29am EST, there is a high-level legal meeting going on back east, and the number one question right now is this:
"Have we protected ourselves sufficiently from the elders?"
Once these angry girls/boys/parents turn around and sue you (and you'll lose in civil court at least, I assure you), you better have your lawyer already picked and on retainer. If you don't, I'm guessing you'll be on CNN too if the plaintiffs are as savvy as Heidi seems to be.

i'm curious to know if anyone has noticed different behavior from their dub family and friends since the aug. km about disfellowshipped ones.
i've noticed that my mother is no longer emailing me, nor is she responding to my emails.
i really wish that she would just come out directly and state that she will no longer talk to me instead of just ignoring everything, thinking i will go away.
WITCHY: It affected me to read your post and the disappointment you felt. I encourage you to not be too downhearted.
I have seen such a personal "tightening" happen _right_ before a person has reached their final decision to leave. My wife did the same thing right before she stopped going to meetings altogether. Your daughter's affirmation of her fading beliefs may simply be a knee-jerk reaction to a stern word from the Mother organization. Remeber that JWs are conditioned puppets, and the two years of work you put in has _not_ been wasted.
Speaking from the child's perspective (I left, my mom is still in) I can say that a child's love for their parent goes far beyond these little stupidities. Currently my mom is dealing with breast cancer and I am being prevented from comforting her because my father is an ex-elder prick. What can I do? I am powerless. I can simply be ready for that moment where she picks up the phone and calls me.
In the end, I love her a hell of a lot more than Jehovah does. Someday she'll see that. So will your daughter.
Stay strong and keep talking to your friends here.
Goodboy.
[i posted this elsewhere before the silentlambs thing got as big as it is.
i wonder if this post is still valid and even if the watchtower can be saved based on the depth of the scandal that's coming... anyway, i wouldn't mind hearing comments on my proposals...] .
brothers, all you need to do is look to the mormons to see what the watchtower organization could potentially become.
> How about this: look at all the research that has been done
> in the last thirty years that is VASTLY superior to theirs about
> chronology and blood; now how much have they changed? ZERO.
Yeah, good points. Your comment made me remember when I had just left and I was saying to my mom, "You know, I've learned about a wonderful thing called 'carbon dating', which pretty much discredits everything the witnesses say about the arrival of man on this planet..."
Her response?
"Oh, well they disproved carbon dating in one of the articles a long time ago."
The sound of me slapping my own forehead was akin to a shotgun blast.
