has anybody seen the new half-hour jw talk show called the inside story?
the pilot is included in part 2 of the latest gilead graduation program, and they said more will likely come.. basically, it's probably one of the most cringeworthy programs to ever come out of jw broadcasting.
it has all the tropes: an opening monologue, a studio audience, a live band, and guests that move down the couch to the left as the next guest is introduced.
Extremist - yes. If nothing else, they are ready to make a massive spam sending hundreds thousand letters to five or six addresses and disabling normal work of post offices and government institutions for days. That could be easly classified as act of terorism, at least as serious offense. Idk how much % of brain members of GB use, but organizing that international spam-fest (an offense) isn't a way to address a court.
idk if this help: http://tass.com/world/941007
just though i'd start a thread devoted to languages, dialects/sociolects and accents, with the idea being that posters can comment on any language, or dialect or accent of any language, on this thread.. any phrases, expressions or idioms that you find interesting are also welcome.
first, the subject of english accents came up on another thread.. the british isles have many different types of accent (although many of the dialects may be dying out), and if i start to take a closer look, i can't help but see 'patterns' .... in received pronunciation of standard english, the letter r is pronounced initially, between vowels, and after consonants, e.g.
red, arrow, break.
Can't resist, my english is even worse :)
this morning i woke up from a good night's sleep to a horrible nightmare.
as soon as i woke up i asked myself when am i going to get this cult out of my head.
as a disclaimer i just want you all to know my wife would never do this because she is a hard fast atheist.
Huh, that was a party, just a few crackers and glass of vine, but people still talk about that night even two thousand years later...
this was the first memorial that i declined to do any work for the memorial.
i was assigned as a parking attendant after getting downgraded from doing the sound and had no intention of doing either task but i had to attend for my family and continuation of my fade.
i sat there last night listening to the talk and couldn't help but shake my head as my brain attempted to process the bs.
I remember 20+ years ago, memorial speech was quite interesting - about Pesach, its meaning for old Jews, how to calculate date 14. nisan, what's the connection with Christianity, how lamb and vegetables evolve to bread and vine... Now, 45 min about how important is to be here tonight, "to celebrate like Jesus and apostles", and how important is to not use bread and vine because "we all have earthly hope", and same show when speaker offers symbols to assistants, and then one of assistants offer symbols to speaker, and he make gesture like "thanks, but i'm full"...
it appears like the wt's bible is no longer to be used in russia.
king james version only.
from this forum: .
On original forum it was posted on "Humor" section, so it is a prank. A word of wisdom: never believe anything on the first reading, always double check everything, especially that sort of breaking news. Nvm April 1 or not, we entered the age of alternative facts...
dubs in a pro-jw forum are talking about the earthquake in kamchatka russia.
they are speculating that this is jehovah's warning to putin.
what kind of twisted logic is this?.
"Dear Jehovah, wouldn't be better to send some manna to starving children in South Sudan and elsewhere?"
i was raised in the religion and for the most part believed that my religion was truth.
i recognized some mistakes were occasionally made but felt that nobody is perfect.
then i smartened up and realized how dumb so many of the beliefs are....was there ever a time that you truly believed you had the "truth"?.
Yep, a true believer, since childhood, raised as a JW, till mid 1990-ies. The first red bulb started flashing with "generation" change. The second was UN-NGO issue in 2001., when I wrote to local branch asking what's goin on and got inquisition on my back. That's the time when I realised that JW is a cult by definition and WT is a legalized scam. I still belived in God and Bible, but in the meantime I mastered some science, as part of the study I have conducted evolutionary algorithms (mathematical formulation of evolution) and realized that theory of evolution "has more evidence than gravity, electricity, wind...". Now I'm in the best case an agnostic.
