Thanks for your kind words. Preaching is his life, that's him. He know lot of things we talking here, he was elder for decades, he has his ups and downs, but he don't care much about WT ("it's just a piece of paper") or GB ("these are just an imperfect people"). All he know: there is The God, there is His Word Bible, and there is The Message to preach. Nothing else matters.

What a beautiful day for service!
by StephaneLaliberte ini heard this expression very often and even said it often myself.
now that i am out, i realize this isn't always the case.
there were many times i was going out in service saturday morning and couldn't wait for 12:00 to come along so that we could go swimming, bicycling, play basket ball, go to the beach... .

As much as i know, the only man who really enjoyed field service was my father. Omg, he was never tired in the service. He was a pioneer almost forty years, he made 80+ hours per month easily. He made every occasion to preaching, whoever comes in his sight (neighboors, postman, trafficant, a random passer, etc.) had to listen "the good news". He always had two or three "field teritorries" in a pocket (idk english name for that), and at least 2-3 "bible studies" per week. More than 60 person was baptized after his "studies" during the decades.
And he was always pissed on me becouse i reported 10-15 hours, mostly spended making him company on his endless studies... oh how i hated field service, almost as much as he liked it... -

Where is the proof?
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know that the governing body claim to be "god's representatives" and the "faithful and discreet slave" that dispenses spiritual food..... but where is the proof?.
according to the bible (if we just for a moment take it as a reliable source), all of god's representatives in the past furnished proof of their appointment - not just self referential claims or statements.. for instance, moses and aaron performed miracles before pharaoh (such as the snake staffs.).
other prophets performed signs and miracles such as making the sun stand still, healing sick people, making walls fall down, etc etc.... even jesus performed miracles as proof of his divine appointment!.

What changes would JW.org need to make to become a normal Christian denomination.
by UnshackleTheChains ini am interested in getting people's thoughts on this.
on average 40 thousand people leave the organisation yearly for one reason or another.
the experiences all over the media are proof of this.

Too late, you can't put toothpaste back in the tube. But, I would insist on:
- admiting and apologizing for the misleads and errors both the past and the current
- putting "the organization" on the right place (just an administration tool, not a golden calf)
- respecting people's rights (no shunning, no restrictions in medical choice, no restriction in educational and proffesional choice)
and i would welcome any of the following:
- rearrange meetings to be really educational, not a brainwash seanse
- promote researches, education, free minds
- spend some of that 1 billion $ to help further education of talented JW kids worldwide (better investion than building babylon in warwick)
- stop publishing crap, better publish 1 publication per year, but with longer lifetime (recent publications didn't last more than a few years)
-many little things we'll never see -

chasing me for a report
by Phoebe ini'm fairly new on here and i've told a lot of my story but to recap, after 60 odd years i've stopped going to the meetings.
my husband had already left the truth years ago and my children didn't become jws.(phew!).
i had a horrendous childhood growing up as a witness which included sexual assault by a close relative, also a jw.

Sad story, Phoebe, i wish you all the best to overcome bad things and to find some happiness outside of a cult.
About reporting, if you feel sorry for that elder (and you want to keep snoops away from your life) just text him each month "1 hour" or something like that. Don't let your conscience to disturb you, they stole much more time of your life. -

It is just a golden calf syndrome: it's not right, we don't encourage it, but, hmmm, give people what they want...

The great tribulation is now coming VERY soon!
by The Searcher inwatchtower october 2017, par 11, page 28 - "very soon the political powers of satan’s world will form a coalition that is bent on the destruction of god’s people.
's] have anything to fear?
not at all!........at that critical moment during the great tribulation, the angelic soldiers of jehovah of armies will come together to protect god’s people..."[j.w.

I don't know whose idea it was, but they didn't translate any greetings in the movies to my local language, "hi" and "bye" all the time, sounds so unnatural with the rest of translated text. A family with two small kids was sitting near us, everytime someone said "bye" on the big screen, they waved back to screen with loud "byeeeeeeee!!!!" :)

What woke you up?
by MrRoboto infor me, i think it was just the right time as i was starting to wake up on other fronts as well (anyone who had went through these will know what i mean).
but it started when i was looking for what info goes on a publisher card, which led to me reading one person's story (ex bethelite) which was pretty crazy to an all-in jw but who trusts those apostates...?.
then i started watching videos on cults, as if my subconscious was trying to tell my concord mind something... when i saw a particular one about a young man in lds getting ready to start their 2 year preaching campaign, including a school, social activities etc, i realized that i couldn't tell the difference between the folks of this mormon cult and the jws (save for some religious differences) .

In my case, i can locate my awakening in autumn 2001. with UN-NGO scandal. Till then I was still faithful, but a little bit disappointed by many things. I sent a letter to a local branch to ask what's going on, and got generic answer about apostates, "library card only" nonsense, and instructions "do not hesitate to contact your local elders for further info" - which turned to be opposit, they didn't hesitated to interrogate me on and on, like i'm the one who made mistake - probably i did, asking forbiden question. Month or two later, i was totaly awake, shaking my head what a terrible dream i lived.
