sociology is fascinating.. here at this board we have a subculture of a subculture, similar to bears (gay hairy men) who are also a subculture of a subculture.. i participate in boards for both groups and they are remarkably similar.

there are the people who post long drawn out posts pontificating about this or that.

there are snipers who do nothing but try to derail threads.

elsewhere in the active topics list is a great post from wasasister dealing in a very wise manner with women's hormonal cycle.

the viewpoint and outlook contained in her post was to my mind very well done, thoughtful, considerate, and made a number of points that would be helpful to keep in mind in dealing with the male/female dynamic.. so i hope (and believe) that wasa won't mind if i use her post to springboard to one of my own - the mirror image of hers.. wasa makes a very good point in saying that women are jerked around by the hormones in their blood every month.

and lots of us know at least one woman whose pms reaches truly epic proportions.

One clarification: Camille Pagilia, though an intellectual lesbian -- does not describe herself as being a liberal. She chooses a more Libertarian definition (though she qualifies this with saying there should be a "safety net" for the poor and disabled). As a Socialist and a Humanist (I believe Paglia and I have the humanism in common) we differ a great deal. But I admire Paglia because she is such an original thinker, a little bit wack-o, and not intimidated by the political correctness of the academy.

Whoa, Tina! I forgot how inarticulate you can be! Sloshing my way through your last post was an exercise in patience -- thank the goddess I’m such a saint! But between you and me, sweetheart, better lay off the hootch or call the doctor and tell him your meds aren’t working.

Gurrrfriend, you be such a one-trick pony. Of course, anyone who disagrees with you has got to be a (read: one) mysterious person you immediately dismiss with the label of "troll." This allows you to sidestep any examination of your own behavior or the content of your posts. Every time I’ve visited this site you have been in the process of transforming it into your own personal toilet. And it’s pretty obvious honey -- that you be full of it! Why don’t you take responsibility for what you say and how you treat people? Of course, that would require that you use more than a couple of brain cells -- and maybe two is all you have.

Oh yeah, the Carl Sagan quote is a nice touch. How about this one from Sagan: "Understanding is joyous."

By taking a chance and speaking your mind -- you’ve become the latest object of attack by the local pack of distempered bitches that roam this site. When the smell of blood hits the snouts of their partners in slime -- and there should be at least five of them -- be prepared.

Windy and Tina, the self-ordained spotters of evil "trolls," (which seems to be anyone who doesn’t agree with them) are so blind to their own behaviors, including ad hominem attacks, name calling, and shameless narcissism, that responding to them is a waste of time. Sweetheart, ‘dem blind folk jus’ ain’ gonna see ‘demselves in da mirror!

So, who’s not welcome here? I certainly wasn’t. I spoke up for two previous people -- Hilary Step and LoneWolf -- who were attacked by this pack of nasty, yapping hyenas.

It came down to the question -- Why did I come here? It certainly wasn’t a "support" board for me in my ongoing attempt to process and move forward from being a JW all of my earlier life. So I left. I decided to check in this morning and I saw Esmeralda’s post "Am I unwelcome here?" (Esmeralda you’re one of the good people! This board needs you.) ... and it’s obvious that nothing has changed.
