Need help compiling a list of the latest changes in doctrine and practices

i have former jws looking at jwfacts.com in order to update themselves with what is happening with the religion, so that they can better understand their jw family.

it thought it would help if there was a page devoted to what has changed since 2000. .

2012 oct release of jw.org - jws encouraged to download their own publications and use ipads at meetings and field service.

Leaked Elder's Video: How to deal with a suicidal sister

son of thunder is saying he has relatives that we're running bethel in egypt for years and they have been let go reassigned as special pioneers yet according to him this job no longer pays a wage.

he also states that 5000 total bethelites world wide are being let go.

I'm actually glad I held off in commenting when I first saw this post this morning. My initial reaction was like others on here...to roll my eyes and I was ready to criticize.

But, I then went to Mike and Kim's YouTube channel and watched their video clarifying the information. It was straightforward, humble, transparent and I appreciated the honesty.

I haven't exactly been the biggest fan of Mike & Kim...but to their credit, they posted an update and clarification. They were transparent and humble in this matter, in my opinion.

GND and Joe have it right. It's poor journalism in the OP.

I'm glad the WTS is getting bad press. However, the letter specifically states that documents related to sex abuse are to be retained, not destroyed.

To assert otherwise is to spread something that isn't true, and gives more ammunition and weight to the "apostate lies" argument.

makemeanunbeliever: Now as to answer your "real question". The ancient Jewish faith was flawed but they were the chosen nation. No doubt surrounding nations thought them crazy and they probably warned their young ones of pitfalls. So the comparison to Christendom could very well fit today.
So far nothing has moved me enough here to "make me an unbeliever". Thank you for your passionate effort though.

Have you read up on the origins of Israel and Judeo religion outside of the Bible? Karen Armstrong (she's a believer) has an excellent book called A History of God: The 4,000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It's an excellent read and gives an interesting glimpse at the roots of the belief in YHWH.

You don't seem to understand what this thread is about. The OP (original post) is about some commonly held ideas between atheists and JW's. It wasn't espousing my beliefs at all.

Then, you went off and made a bunch of statements about atheists that were full of fallacies.

All I did was respond to your faulty statements to correct the record.

The fact that I have to explain this to you could indicate a lack of reading comprehension on your part, which could also explain why you refuse to answer Cofty every time he asks you what books you have read in support of the theory of evolution.

Atheists don't have faith. And just because YOU don't understand something doesn't mean others don't understand it.

You don't know what Atheism is, do you? It's a lack of belief. By definition they don't worship anyone.

Atheists by definition lack belief, so this is a flawed statement.

-Never misses an opportunity to tell someone how they feel about religion.

Overgeneralization. No one in my real life but a few close friends know about my atheism. I suspect that most atheists are like this. Now, if an atheist participates in an online discussion forum that frequently discusses the subject of religion, why would it surprise you if they expressed their opinion during the discussion? That's the purpose of discussion boards....to discuss things.

-Both make mockery of god and bible.

Theists, God and the Bible do a good enough job of that themselves...they don't need atheists to make them a mockery.

-Both for long of day when everyone is exactly the same( no one believes in the bible). There will be peace.

This may surprise you, but most atheists don't give two-shits about what you believe. All they want is for you to keep it to yourself.
