  Did you get " Counseled " about the Music you Listened to While you were a JW ?

  from the time i was a small boy - i loved rock n' roll music.

  beatles, rolling stones, led zeppelin, hendrix.

  i started getting slighted for the music i listened to as i lay in my bedroom listening on headphones to led zeppelin's song " black dog " at age 14 with my elder dad looking suspiciously at me as i'm rocking out .

  My parents let me listen to Led Zeppelin...but counseled me about listening to Metallica.

  I was able to listen to Hendrix....but not Ozzy.

  I was allowed to listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn....but Velvet Revolver was out of the question.

  My crew leader in Bethel counseled me about listening to The Doors because "Break on Through (to the Other Side)" was supposedly written by the Demons and it was about the flood.

  SBF: I suppose it could be read that way, however in the 1998 article, they don't mention "thousands"... they use the term "numerous."

  "...The accusation that numerous children of Jehovah's Witnesses die each year as a result of refusing blood transfusions is totally unfounded..."

  Numerous could be defined as anything from a few handfuls to millions.

  I could say I've been to the Museum "numerous" times throughout my life. That would be a true statement. But, that doesn't mean I've been to the museum hundreds or thousands of times. I could have gone once a year for 20 years, and the word "numerous" would still be correct to use.

  So, the juxtaposition of these two articles is still conflicting, especially seeing as the cover for the 1994 article had pictures of numerous children who had died.

  NO - Watchtower 1998 December 1 p.14 Defending Our Faith

  "Jehovah's Witnesses have been targets of false accusations - barefaced lies and twisted presentations of their beliefs... The accusation that numerous children of Jehovah's Witnesses die each year as a result of refusing blood transfusions is totally unfounded."

  So does that mean that the May 22, 1994 Awake! was a "false accusation...barefaced lie...twisted presentation of [JW] beliefs"?

  Are we confused yet? ;)

  i have former jws looking at jwfacts.com in order to update themselves with what is happening with the religion, so that they can better understand their jw family.

  it thought it would help if there was a page devoted to what has changed since 2000. .

  2012 oct release of jw.org - jws encouraged to download their own publications and use ipads at meetings and field service.

  Leaked Elder's Video: How to deal with a suicidal sister

  this video will be played at one of the clam meetings in march 2016.. the content is kind of old news because it is a recut version of a previous video produced for the elder's school.

  however, it's still significant because it shows that the organization still has dissenting brothers in positions of leadership.. my thanks to the leaker.

  Use Insight When Comforting Others: (15 min.) Discussion. Play the video that the elders viewed at a recent Kingdom Ministry School. Then invite comments on how the two brothers were a good example of how to give encouragement when someone expresses anguish over the death of a loved one.

  son of thunder is saying he has relatives that we're running bethel in egypt for years and they have been let go reassigned as special pioneers yet according to him this job no longer pays a wage.

  he also states that 5000 total bethelites world wide are being let go.

  Thank you, Barbara, for the additional insight.

  I'm actually glad I held off in commenting when I first saw this post this morning. My initial reaction was like others on here...to roll my eyes and I was ready to criticize.

  But, I then went to Mike and Kim's YouTube channel and watched their video clarifying the information. It was straightforward, humble, transparent and I appreciated the honesty.

  GND and Joe have it right. It's poor journalism in the OP.

  I'm glad the WTS is getting bad press. However, the letter specifically states that documents related to sex abuse are to be retained, not destroyed.

  To assert otherwise is to spread something that isn't true, and gives more ammunition and weight to the "apostate lies" argument.
