  for years the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses has held a regional convention in the tri-cities, attracting about 16,000 of the faithful who spend an estimated $8.6 million while in town.. .

  but they won't be coming in 2014.. "what they told me is the decision has been made nationally to downsize the number of conventions from 400 to 100. they're simply consolidating," said kris watkins, president and ceo of the tri-cities visitor & convention bureau in kennewick.. .

  these guys on the governing body are supposed to be leading this corporation in the direction that would increase profits and leaded to something good or in some sort of good direction.

  but we don't see it happpening with these guys they all bogged down with useless shit like warning kids 3 and under to stay away from demonized toys and deaf people need to keep away from from touching their private parts lest jehovah be sad or have a coniption fit.. i think these guys are the bottom of the barrel ceos who lavish themselves with delusions of being gods appointed mouthpiece to the world, it requires a lots of denial and it is starting to show embarasingly in their business decisions...

  Why would the Governing Body spend corporation assets on making a video to warn tiny tots ....

  They are no doubt hoping to circumvent the huge losses by appealing to children and indoctrinating them with fun things like cartoons.

  As to the video warning those that can't hear about touching one's self ...

  The video is a JW publication done in sign language, not a stand-alone anti-masturbation message.

  Interesting.

  The Organization has improved to a degree, but improvements made in God's Organization as a result of complying with laws of governments supposedly under demonic control says a lot.

  I noticed some spin. We all know that even if someone loses privileges in the congregation and an announcemnet is made, nobody knows the reason and that they have a child abuser in their midst to protect their children from.

  i am from a non-christian background, a hindu.

  i got to know 'the truth' (or myth) from my hubby while we were working.

  MissConfused, welcome, I am so sorry that you are feeling confused and scared.

  It is true, they do speak badly about the people who leave, but why are you worried about how they define you if you leave? You will lose people who are friends with you because you are a JW, you will have the opportunity to make many more friends who like you for who you are, not what religion you belong to.
