Another congregation bites the dust
by NikL inwent to the meeting last night with my believing wife.
the co was visiting and delivered a really cult-ish talk on loyalty but that's another story.. they made the announcement that starting january 1st they were going to have only 3 congregations in this town instead of 4.. they are dissolving one and growing the territories of the remaining 3. the reason given is that many of the elders are getting up there in age and can't do what they used to do.
basically not enough elders and ministerial servants...or even men reaching out for that matter.

I agree with you redvip. If more "sisters" could be encouraged to leave I reckon the men and children would follow. It's just a social club for many. -

I'm a bit slow maybe, but I take it that you are signing in to this forum. I use my iPad and I don't sign out which means I can just click right back in whenever. If my wife wants to sneak a look she is more than welcome and I wish she would. she can tap right on favourites in safari and away she goes. We each have our own iPads etc. so we respect each other's privacy and we also have Windows laptops which we don't use any more. I hope this is helpful in some way.

Watchtower Philosophy Debates
by Wild_Thing ini was wondering how many of you still enjoy (or maybe you just feel the need) to discuss and debate jw doctrine and scripture.
i find myself scrolling right past those topics i see online.
i could care less.

I read all the posts on doctrine changes and debates, murders in Venezuela, just about everything in order to keep up to date and casually pass snippets of info on to my still in wife. She seems to appreciate knowing about things before others. It doesn't seem to make a difference but who knows. I'm getting this activity down to a fine art now.

It hasn't been that long since I had a visit from an elder who, in response my question, looked me in the face and lied that "we always notify everyone if a paedophile becomes a member of the cong." I don't know how I stayed for the decades that I did.

Irish Elders deleted by Watchtower for reporting child sex abuse allegation to police
by Diogenesister intwo elders have been deleted by watchtower for reporting an allegation of child sexual abuse to the police, contrary to watchtower orders (a jw paedophile with a history, apparently).
when the british branch discovered what the elders had done they arranged for 3 elders to fly over to ireland, at the congregations expense no less, to hold a special jc for the ' rogue' congregation elders.
one elder and the cobe were deleted, two were allowed to continue.

Good on you for waking up at thirteen. My three daughters woke up in their teens. The eldest informed the youngest who grasped it quickly. I was baptised at 27, left at 34, came back at 48 because of my wife. Left for good at 69 this year.
Keep reading and watching videos etc. to keep yourself out so you don' t waste your life. It goes by quickly I can assure you.

Hitachi TV Review
by The Fall Guy ini have never reviewed a product before, but having purchased a hitachi 50 inch full hd lcd tv at the weekend, i thought i'd share my experience.
hitachi tv's are now made in turkey, and not by the hitachi company.
the uk's sole supplier is the argos company.

The wonder of scientific research
by amicabl inthis has possibly been brought up before however here goes.. constant reference is made by many posters to scientific research as being the only way to prove something factual that would otherwise have to be taken on faith.
there actually seems to be "faith" in scientific findings.. my experience over many years is that most scientific research is fake.
nothing oftencomes of the big announcements made to raise more money.. money, prestige, pride, human error, suppositions etc., are rife amongst the scientific community.. i realise that there have been many advances over hundreds of years but humankind is in a mess, although very different to even a century ago.. the medical profession now has vaccinations for everything, antiviral drugs etc.

OrphanCrow / DJS A combined reply..........My name here is a shortening of my real name with an a in front. So the mic is Michael. I am 69, my wife is still in. I left the hall six months ago never to return. A rogue elder told me that the frequent visits to my house to see me are verboten. That doesn't worry him, he's coming again tomorrow. Anyone coming gets a thorough anti witness for several hours. I really like them all because it is in my nature to do so. I have put up a photo of myself to help them if they want to df me.
my grandmother had a child in the twenties that spent most of her short life in pain because of a blocked or twisted bowel that would be a simple op now.
I understand that a female doctor on the FDA blocked the release of thalidomide that prevented massive suffering in the USA.
these two examples, to me, send somewhat mixed messages of the good and the bad of medicine. Why didn't the surgeons at least try with my aunt and why was thalidomide allowed to be sold in Europe to pregnant women when the ill effects were known. I think that this qualified for common knowledge.
I read the statistics on life expectancy and they are encouraging for someone my age. In Queensland, Australia where I live males live to 80 I think, partly because of the mild climate and the more widely distributed population. But again a poor lifestyle will leave many of them in pain or a nursing home etc., for years before their death. I can't prove any of this scientifically but it is what most think. Sometimes human observation as in a farmer and weather forecasting is better than the meteorogical bureau.
I still feel that money talks in a loud way and that it should be a major concern.
Enough.. It is 2 am and I am off to sleep.
