Hitachi TV Review
by The Fall Guy ini have never reviewed a product before, but having purchased a hitachi 50 inch full hd lcd tv at the weekend, i thought i'd share my experience.
hitachi tv's are now made in turkey, and not by the hitachi company.
the uk's sole supplier is the argos company.

The wonder of scientific research
by amicabl inthis has possibly been brought up before however here goes.. constant reference is made by many posters to scientific research as being the only way to prove something factual that would otherwise have to be taken on faith.
there actually seems to be "faith" in scientific findings.. my experience over many years is that most scientific research is fake.
nothing oftencomes of the big announcements made to raise more money.. money, prestige, pride, human error, suppositions etc., are rife amongst the scientific community.. i realise that there have been many advances over hundreds of years but humankind is in a mess, although very different to even a century ago.. the medical profession now has vaccinations for everything, antiviral drugs etc.

OrphanCrow / DJS A combined reply..........My name here is a shortening of my real name with an a in front. So the mic is Michael. I am 69, my wife is still in. I left the hall six months ago never to return. A rogue elder told me that the frequent visits to my house to see me are verboten. That doesn't worry him, he's coming again tomorrow. Anyone coming gets a thorough anti witness for several hours. I really like them all because it is in my nature to do so. I have put up a photo of myself to help them if they want to df me.
my grandmother had a child in the twenties that spent most of her short life in pain because of a blocked or twisted bowel that would be a simple op now.
I understand that a female doctor on the FDA blocked the release of thalidomide that prevented massive suffering in the USA.
these two examples, to me, send somewhat mixed messages of the good and the bad of medicine. Why didn't the surgeons at least try with my aunt and why was thalidomide allowed to be sold in Europe to pregnant women when the ill effects were known. I think that this qualified for common knowledge.
I read the statistics on life expectancy and they are encouraging for someone my age. In Queensland, Australia where I live males live to 80 I think, partly because of the mild climate and the more widely distributed population. But again a poor lifestyle will leave many of them in pain or a nursing home etc., for years before their death. I can't prove any of this scientifically but it is what most think. Sometimes human observation as in a farmer and weather forecasting is better than the meteorogical bureau.
I still feel that money talks in a loud way and that it should be a major concern.
Enough.. It is 2 am and I am off to sleep.

It was a long time ago OrphanCrow, I only put down what I remembered. I can't recall seeing graves of women who died in childbirth or young women who died, only men and women passing away in old age. It was a wander through a cemetery not a scientific expedition. The point I was trying to make in my obviously fractured English, was that the life expectancy of 30 or 40 or whatever was caused by the large number of small children who died which reduced the statistical life expectancy or maybe I am wrong there too. No offence meant to the ladies with whom in the real world I usually get on quite well with.
I actually came on this site to learn and to be encouraged by what I read. I posted a topic of which I do know something only to be shot down, sometimes on minor points and to be misquoted several times. One poster was unnecessarily offensive. I felt that the theme of my post was the dragging out of scientific research in order to create employment for the researchers. I obviously did not make myself clear enough. However what was alarming was the attack launched against me or that is how it seemed. This is not a scientific forum and I expected a variety of opinions. The nitpicking on the way I expressed myself was uncalled for. I am not a research assistant and I will bear in mind in the future that Wikipedia standards are expected of every utterance I make.
Or maybe it was just the subject.

Thanks everyone for the interesting posts, I didn't realise that a simple post on corruption in scientific research using medicine as an example would create such a furor.
Next time I will pick a nice bland topic.
DJS......You seem to know a lot about me including the fact that I am an ignorant AOWM who indulges in levelling and other uneducated thingies. How did you know?
One interesting point I discovered myself many years ago in a rural 19th century cemetery was the number of babes and little ones who died of common illnesses, a few young guys who fell off their horses and the rest most of whom died in their 70s or 80s. Common knowledge I know but it is nice to see these things for yourself. It helps explain the skewed life expectancy statistics as some pointed out.
Thanks again.

I don't really want to continue this as it seems too divisive a subject but I had to condense my thoughts when I was writing and my comments seemed simple or even flippant.
I do appreciate a lot of what medical research has done and I am now alive because of an amazing operation that has enabled me to get back outside labouring on my property, even if it is for only 3 to five hours a day, but then I am 69. I don't take statins or aspirin because of the side effects.
120 years ago heart problems were practically Unknown. The general consensus is the food we eat is one of the main causes of the problem. The massive increase in morbid obesity is directly linked to poor diet, again a product of the chemical companies.
Just about any product we now use comes from scientific research and eventually it seems in my lifetime that massive health problems arrise from many items that are still in use for example Teflon in cookware which I can remember on TV as far back as the fifties.
I can remember my father retiring at 57 with angina and drastically changing his diet with the help of a naturopath, regaining his health and living pain free to 75.
we all have to make our own path in life and I don't want to engage in back and forth argument. Anyone who read that comment from David Jay's friend on other threads would I think appreciate what was said. We are all suffering I think some sort of PTSD from cult involvement and I wish everyone well here. I appreciate all the comments made following my original post and I hope I haven' offended anyone.

Stand but not sing. In Australia nobody seems to know the words, all you hear is a mumble.

stuckinarut2.....I remember there being a post that would answer your question but I don't know where. Even if they complied you would probably need legal help to get them and for sure they would keep a copy. Speaking for myself I wouldn't bother.

As an additional thought to this it is good for everyone to keep all paperwork and a diary of events relating to leaving our former religion of choice including notes on individuals that may be a nuisance in the future including relatives etc. many will naturally do this and I must admit I have not done this thoroughly enough. Never underestimate a potential enemy and I am not being paranoid.

Since leaving Jwism six months ago I have read and read, listened to podcasts and watched videos for thousands of hours. I am almost an atheist.
There is a constant stream of consistent advice that filters through to me and one piece of advice is to read the New Testament after praying for Holy Spirit to understand.
I have not done that yet and I feel that I should. I am sure that I could receive a lot of been there done that no good comments but I have to try it for myself.
After all it is the scientific method.

Vanderhoven7. I am not sure if your post was a joke or not but I am seriously interested if you could elaborate.
As a child my parents both had an interest for a time in "spiritism" and I was influenced by this and related subjects and as we all know old beliefs die hard.
