A question .....
by Landy inhi guys - new poster here.
i was brought up a jw in the uk and stopped going not long after i was married.
that was 20 years ago so i'm not really up to date with the current doctrinal flip flops or the new youtube obsessed gb.. came across this site while googling the name of a local elder who's just been convicted of possesion of a pc full of unpleasant pics of kids.. so, my question.

I haven't avoided any question. Your inability to read or extrapolate an answer from the things I've written is your problem, not mine. -

Sales of Watchtower headquarters could total $1.2 billion, real estate pros predict
by MaybeSo inwe let the qualified buyers participate in a competitive bidding process and see where the market goes with it, devine told the eagle.. doesn't this logic reflect the same expectation of gambling or buying a lottery ticket?
you don't know if you are going to win big or if you're just going to come out even or lose your $1 investment.. how do they know there's not going to be another market or housing crash the next day and get pennies for their properties?.
how can they honestly say: "...see where the market goes with it" and at the same time condone other for playing lottery tickets or gambling or leaving things to chance like not getting higher education.

Think about the energy costs to keep all of those buildings with electricity, the cost of maintenance an so on and it becomes easier to understand why the WTS wanted to move out of that area, simply too expensive to operate.
I think that about sums it up - along with the reduced need for printing.
And remember that they aren't actually making money from the sale as such - unsold the buildings are still on the balance sheet.

Sorry, didn't realise answering your question was compulsory, but seeing as you asked twice ;)
If someone is doing something they don't want to do and being somewhere they don't want to be then that pretty much fulfils my definition of not being true to yourself as you're trying to keep on the right side of other people by modifying your own behaviour. Your definition may be different.
However, I do understand people's reason for doing it.
People have to find their own way through their issues and I'm certainly in no position to judge the way in which they do it.

No judgement given or intended, it was simply a question and an observation.
Good luck to those trying to fade quietly away - hope it's as painless as possible.

Not that far away - I know a lot of people from Ch-Le-St, Washington areas - well, late 80s early 90s anyway.

Oh, yeah super easy to fade away. LOL Not when your entire family is in the org and they all live in the same city. Not when your wife has doubts but tries to beat them back by being more "spiritual." Not when you're a MS and the brothers don't want you to step down because that would mean more mundane work for them.
One of the few things I've learned in this life is that first and foremost you have to be true to yourself. If you can't be true to yourself then you can't be true to anyone else.

Disgusted By Today's WT Study 12/6/15
by JW_Rogue inno, not because of the message of deluding yourself into seeing the hand of god working in mundane wt activities.
that is to be expected from this org.
what really bothered me was the quote in paragraph one.

November Study WT "Train You Child to Love Going Door 2 Door"
by JW_Rogue inbeen catching up on some jw reading and found a gem in the november study wt in the first article, paragraph #11:.
yet, you might look beyond the obvious and ask yourself, does my child enjoy the ministry or only the breaks?
if you discern that the ministry could be more interesting or more rewarding for your children, set goals with them.

It would be easier to train a child to love brussel sprouts
