Does anyone think Jehovah is protecting the org. despite all the talk about THE ARC ?
by tor1500 ini've been thinking this for a while.

Why I'm not agnostic
by Coded Logic ini think the time to be agnostic is when you have evidence on both sides of a claim.
for example, i'm agnostic about the existence of a historical jesus.
i think a reasonable case can be made that jesus was a man who was turned into a legend over a period of a couple of decades.

Why are you convinced the formation of amino acids was an unguided process?
I'm not. I'm comfortable being not quite sure how it happened. That doesn't mean I'll immediately give credit to a deity for the things scientific advancement isn't yet sure of. -

A question on natural selection
by The Rebel inlast friday my boy of ten was very late back from school, so i called the school, they called the police, and to cut a long horrible exsperience short he had been helping a younger boy fly his kite.. but what has occurred to me is that when orlando was 5 years old he was totally dependent on mummy and daddy, whilst horses, cats, birds and other animals are born and are independent within days.. so my question on natural selection is, how are we humuns still here?.
the rebel..

Not all animals are independent within days - some take years to become independent. -

Kate - regardless of beliefs you've made the fundamental mistake of ascribing things you don't understand to a god.
People in times past used to do that as well when they didn't understand tides, or the earth's orbit etc.
edit - when I say 'you' I mean 'we'

Evolution and Atheism - please help
by Fernando innot being familiar with either, my question is:.
what is the relationship between evolution and atheism?.
i'd love to hear from anyone and everyone, and also from any perspective.. without limiting the conversation in any way, i would of course also appreciate comments that are simple, clear, direct and correct (as i don't have the capacity to do a phd in evolution or atheism)..
-
Landy
There's no direct relation.
It's just that if you accept evolution as having happened the way current scientific consensus says it has then it makes God redundant.

So with the scientific evidence I do have and then apply Ocams Razor....for me it's more probable there is an intellectual being responsible for guiding evolution in the early stages of amino acid formation.
That's not Occam's Razor - that's the God of the Gaps. Again.

Plans for huge Jehovah's HQ take shape
by Formerbrother inhttp://www.chelmsfordweeklynews.co.uk/news/11227290.plans_for_huge_jehovah_s_hq_take_shape/.
its going to be a real beautiful place when its finished.. they are going for quality over quantity.
it used to be accommodation for a few thousand permanent residents, now its looking like less than a thousand permanent with the possibility of a few thousand more in temporary accommodation should the need arise.. some say the plans are going to be like a garden of eden in england :) i mean they had farming in london over the years but this is going to be epic what they are planning for temple farm at chelmsford.. they are planting thousands (literally) of fruit trees, including tropical fruits in huge green houses, huge vines yards and then the same basic farming activities as before.

I love a good conspiracy theory.
What do the tin foil hat brigade think the bunker is for?
Secret swinging hot tub parties?
A government style safe haven for Armageddon?
A secret tomb to bury all the bethelites once they turn 45 (Logan's run stylee)?

by park ave boy inquick background.
a few days ago someone brought up an old new york newspaper called the "brooklyn eagle.
" during lunch i had a little time to do some research about the whole jw.borg and what i found almost knocked me out of my seat.

Disfellowshipped for celebrating Xmas?
by Theburstbubble ini could really do with some advice on what's acceptable when you leave.
we have left of our own accord about 6 months ago.
we didn't celebrate xmas this year but have just celebrated my daughters birthday.. a friend of mine who is still a witness told me that an elder had approached her and asked if we had celebrated xmas and that if we did it was a df offence as is classed as apostasy!

The rule of thumb used to be that if local people still viewed you as a witness then the elders would be involved.
That's one of the reasons a too slow fade can be a bad idea - if you go to occasional meetings to keep family happy or go to the memorial every year then you will still be viewed as a witness.
