What is the purpose of life?
by slimboyfat inwhile reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

...that I never, ever, would think about beating or punishing a woman unless she was my wife or daughter.
Nice. Is that what good christians do these days, beat their wives and daughters?

Maybe stop trying to convert her? Don't talk about JWism and just enjoy your marriage. Try to rekindle your friendship and spend time together.
There's lots of couples where one goes to the meetings and the other doesn't who have perfectly good relationships. The key is accepting that the other person has free will and can do what they want to.
Just accept that being a JW is her 'hobby' and let her get on with it.
She may come out at some point, she may not. One thing is for sure is that if you keep challenging her beliefs when she's not ready for them to be challenged she will become more entrenched.

If anything, a reality without a supreme being seems even more mysterious to me!
Ancient civilisations across the world have agreed with you, yet all their 'mysterious' things have all been explained through scientific endeavour.
yes there are things we don't understand but scientists revel in uncertainty - it gives them something to work at and they'll get there eventually.
Every year that passes the universe is just a little less mysterious.

I know of no logical way to exclude this possibility, therefore I do not think the God of the Bible has been disproved.
I know of no logical way to exclude this possibility, therefore I do not think the existence of unicorns has been disproved.
I know of no logical way to exclude this possibility, therefore I do not think the existence of werewolves has been disproved.
I know of no logical way to exclude this possibility, therefore I do not think the existence of lepricorns has been disproved.
Is the penny dropping yet?
For someone who likes philosophy you seem spectacularly ignorant of Russell's teapot.

IBSA (Watchtower UK) property portfolio for sale
by betterdaze inbehold: ibsaproperty.com“the extensive ibsa property portfolio in north london is now being brought to the market.”ibsa moved to the leafy london suburbs of mill hill in the late 1950’s.
since then, expansion has required the acquisition of further properties in the immediate area, and in some cases further beyond.
in recent years, relocation to a single site which would offer greater economy of operation became more than a matter of interest, and in 2014 a suitable site in chelmsford, essex was purchased.

For an organisation that 'is no part of the world' they certainly arent shy about making a profit from it.

What is the logical basis for ruling out the possibility that there may be a solution to the problem of evil that humans either don't or are not able to understand?
Because it's not demonstrable and it's not provable. It's scientific terms it's a worthless concept. That's why it can be logically ruled out.
Until such time you can demonstrate it, obviously.

The purpose of life is to reproduce; sociobiology 101. Anything else is to keep us entertained
The reproducing part can be quite entertaining in itself.

May God be with us all.
Which one?
Just checking as there's a fair few of them to choose from?
