  to me they have an agenda and they really don't care about professional journalism.

  most are untrustworthy and that's a shame.

  The Swedish media have a policy of reporting crimes carried out by immigrants but they won't say the ethnicity and immigrant status of the criminals.

  the jehovah’s witnesses settled a lawsuit this week brought by a pennsylvania woman who says the religion’s leaders covered up sexual abuse she suffered as a teenager.. the settlement came five days into a trial in which stephanie fessler, a former jehovah’s witness, claimed the religion’s parent corporation violated pennsylvania’s child abuse reporting laws by instructing local leaders – known as elders – not to report her allegations to police.. according to fessler, a middle-aged jehovah’s witness woman, terry monheim, began sexually abusing her when she was 14. at 15, fessler disclosed the abuse to her parents.

  It's what Eden One stated, " If the plaintiff didn't have a case, the Watchtower wouldn't make a settlement. " End of story. Pretty simple. Some pontificators on the thread try to make it more complicated than it is in order to muddy the waters of who is responsible.

  Perhaps. Perhaps not. They may come to a settlement for all sorts of reasons. And nobody was legally responsible - that's the whole point of a settlement.

  Cooked food and the evolution of man.

  i was watching a documentary on the development of man and they were indicating that the eating of high protein diet was helping man to grow a bigger brain and then went on to say that cooking the food was the breakthrough on how our brain became bigger then other animals that ate a lot of protein.

  does this make any sense to you and what science if any shows cooked protein is better in any way over raw?

  Ok I don't know how this thread evolved in to a bacon thread but that maybe a good thing , I too love me some bacon!!!!!

  I remember reading/hearing somewhere that it's thought that one of the jumps in human development came when we started to cook our food. Apparently the cooking increases the calorific content which is thought to have increased brain power.

  i am a non-jw girl dating a jw man for almost 5 years now since end of high school.

  most of the relationship has been long distance.

  when we started dating, we wanted a serious long term relationship that would end in marriage one day.

  Many JWs, like religious people in general, can be selfish and rather arrogant and expect you to be the one to make all the changes and compromises. If you are not a JW then they may also be conflicted somewhat (not a good place to be) because they are not really keeping to the rules with what they are doing so may not really be serious that the relationship will ever go anywhere.

  That.

  If you go ahead with the relationship you will be the one that has to capitulate and compromise your beliefs to accommodate his. Bear in mind it's also a religion where women are subservient to men.

  The fact that he has a relationship with a non-JW may indicate he's not strong in his faith and may be easily persuaded to leave but think very carefully before you go ahead.

  The bottom line is: we haven't had a real free and impartial press for some considerable time.

  The press has always been free, but you're right, it's rarely impartial.

  To some extent you take your poison from the one that fits your perspective on the world.

  As long as you maintain your internal filters it's not necessarily a bad thing.

  Hence the reason he was elected and now has control of the nuclear launch codes.
