  RUMOUR - Regarding future memorials

  i heard this on the youtube channel - bad jw round table discussions and i normally don't give much thought to rumours, i did find this one interesting.one of the guys on the channel said that there are plans that 'the other sheep' will be told not to attend any future memorials.he was asked how credible was this and he said that it is talk going around by those in the know, just like there had been those that knew about the fairly recent new edition of the bible being in production.even if this is probably just a rumour, the idea has a lot of merit.

  the benefits for the organization outweigh the negatives and would fit in with their current direction.here are some of the benefits, for the org.

  that could come from it- the biggest benefit would come from not having to accommodate so many attendants, which are more than double a normal meeting.

  just a heads-up that i will be testing some updates this evening.. the nature of the changes means it's difficult to test every scenario in advance offline (translation: it's a lot more effort and i just can't be bothered) so i'm going to go with the "wing-it" approach:.

  deploy, check for errors, try to fix errors before anyone else notices them.. i can switch between the new and old version pretty quickly so if there are significant issues, i'll rollback and revert the changes while i work on the fixes.

  worse case is the pages won't display quite right (dates might be a giveaway) but a full page refresh should fix things.. http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/.

  Everyone (in the U.K. anyway) has a right to an appropriate treatment. That treatment sometimes has to accommodate various religious beliefs. If, and it sounds as though they could have done in this case, the beliefs can be accommodated then they should take measures to treat that person safely within their wishes.

  The judge thought so anyway after looking at the evidence.

  What was it like being a JW in the 1960's and 1970's

  this is obviously a question for the older generation.

  i'm really curious what it was like to be a witness in the 60's and 70's?.

  was the society as strict as it is today?.

  Mine was more the 70s and 80s but no real complaints to be honest. Happy enough childhood despite meetings and ministry.

  Glad I never put my kids through it but I didn't die.

  phone scams

  i received a phone call, "is that (name)?".

  i was working my way around a car park and answered.

  "yeah hang on" at which the caller hung up.. this is a scam where they are wanting you to confirm who you are so they can move on identity theft.. the voice was male clear like a professional announcer.. i have reported this to the relevant authorities.. i have also frozen my bank account..

  Perhaps a slight over reaction.

  Your name is in public domain anyway. They've now tied a phone number to it. It will be sold as part of a verified marketing list.

  There was some vague threats a while ago about them recording you saying 'yes' in order to sign you up for some services but that amounted to nothing really.

  it's good to be paranoid when it comes to phone/email scans though.

  Is it true you could disassociate yourself prior 1981 with no restrictions?

  That rings a vague bell. I think the changes were to do with ray franz iirc.
