judge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

Yes Richard I did, I hold then everything, I read them your posts. They said they know what they are doing but they are worried about you and your how upset you are sounding.
You sound so worked up. They want you to call so they can put your mind to ease.
Just call them instead of debating us,it's not doing you any ggod.
Again we didn't place the ad's they did. We were merely saying what we hope might happen and you came on trying to scare people into believing this is a lost cause, an uphill battle, it will take years if it ever work's. You are afraid for the victims that they are going to use cases that the victims are fragile, just so they can win big cases. That post of yours they really want to talk to you about.
They do not want to hurt anyone especially the victims and for you to indicate that they would they really want you to call so they can asure you that is not their intention.
WTF? I think you're the one that needs help - that's more than a little creepy.
is it just me who doesnt see the point of this ?
from time to time we see some individual who takes up page after page arguing his or her point of view and it usually ends up with only 2 or 3 individuals who keep the talkfest going with a particular individual and nobodys getting anything out of it .. why bother ?
why get sucked in to such a pointless dialogue ?

This is the internet. That's what it's for. That and pictures of kittens obviously.
my wife found this 1/4 page ad on page 2 of yesterday's nj star-ledger, probably the biggest newspaper in nj.
pretty telling.. .
Are you in the Watchtower's payroll? or you just like having fun by being a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian?
He's not being contrarian - is this instance he's being resonable (and generally correct) and you're continuing the tradition on here that any one who gives thoughtful realistic responses and doesn't get caught up in the stupid anti-jw rhetoric that sometimes goes on here is pro-jw.
The ad is a vertical market campaign on a fishing expedition. Advertising works best when it is directed at as narrow group as is practical and that's what they've done.
The child abuse lawsuits have had very limited success against the witnesses, we keep waiting for the landslide but it never appears (remind you of something?).
There is sometimes grounds for taking action but it's only in very limited circumstances.
It may yield some results, it may not. I do agree though it's not good publicity for the WTS - localised as it may be.
As Chris Hitchins said 'Who wants to be a sheep? The shepherd doesn't really care for them, he only wants to fleece them, fuck them or eat them'.
i will resume this series soon.. #1 protein functional redundancy comparing the sequences of amino acids in ubiquitous proteins confirms the relationship between all living things..
#2 dna functional redundancy comparison of the dna that codes for the amino acids of ubiquitous proteins predicts the tree of life with an astonishing degree of accuracy..
#3 ervs endogenous retroviruses that infected our ancestors are found in the same place of the genome of our closest primate cousins..
About bloody time slacker!
;)
this post may be disturbing and i apologize, but i'm just trying to find out if this is a practice the jw teaches.
i was taken advantage of by a guy claiming to be a jw preacher.
he took me to his house supposedly so i could give his daughter piano lessons, and then he basically forced himself on me while telling me he was in love with me and wanted to marry me.
I err on the side of believing the poster because in the event that she was raped or sexually assaulted, she will be suffering and obviously feeling very confused by both what the man did and said.
Or at at the very least give her the benefit of the doubt.
Hi anyone from the UK ?
Yep, SBF much to his displeasure :D
new series of timc started monday.. one of the episodes is on evolution - should be good knowing cox's antipathy towards religion.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b088f2vv.
sorry you colonials - it's on the bbc so you won't be able to get it.
serves yourself right for voting for trump!
They are hellbent in making a name for themselves at all cost....at the cost of all sensibleness and reasonableness.
That sums it up pretty well.
It's amusing how Sturgeon has gone quiet now though. Despite her rhetoric she doesn't want a second referendum as she can't afford to lose it and she can't afford to win it.

What is the liberal bubble?
It tends to be quite progressive, think of Fox News and it's the opposite of that.
It's still probably the best impartial source of news in the UK (if not the world).
