  Lots of places actually invent languages to make themselves seem more "special".

  Welsh, for instance, started off as a joke to play on tourists using all the left-over consonants that they had when making road-signs. But then it caught on and they had to try and make a language up in retrospect to match all the signs which is why no one can really speak it.

  Interesting fact: They got a little-known (at the time) language student to create Welsh. His name was John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, yes, the same J.R.R.Tolkien who wrote Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Inventing Welsh inspired him to invent Elvish and then make up some books where he could use it.

  Is that like a trump style fact? Tolkien took his elvish language from Welsh. Welsh has been around for centuries. And people can speak it.

  i think blood medicine will be replaced pretty soon- hopefully sooner than later

  That's a very bold claim - care to back it up?

  Blood is a very scarce and expensive resource (at least in the U.K.) and its use isn't taken lightly when there are viable alternatives.

  one thing over the years social media has made me painfully aware of is how many times i see someone use the phrase "i'll pray for you" and the outcome is bad.

  recently a friend of mine who at one time was my manager where i worked got cancer.

  a lot of people were praying for him.

  Prayer puzzles me. It always has. I don't think I will ever not be puzzled about prayer - despite people's valiant attempts to explain prayer's innate impotence or interpret my lack of faith in prayer as a bruising consequence of my JW background. Ha! I was cynical about prayer even as a door-knocking JW. It has always been a chink in my armor. Thank God!

  There have actually been some (quasi) scientific studies on the effects of prayer in medical outcomes.

  I'm on the phone at the moment but if you google 'studies on intercessory prayer' that should give you enough to get you banging your head on the PC screen.

  Outraged After Watching The May 2017 Broadcast

  ok, so i've just put myself through another months broadcast so i can see what bull they're feeding my still in relatives.

  all was going fine... well, i say fine, i mean the usual cheesy videos, rehearsed reactions from jeffrey jackson (you remember him, the one who told half truths and lies at the royal commission) and propaganda from jw land.. the last feature brings up 9/11 and the paris 2015 attack at the bataclan.

  just as im thinking "how are they gonna spin this in their direction" i hear these words:.

  Ok, so i've just put myself through another months broadcast so i can see what bull they're feeding my still in relatives.

  Why? Set yourself a challenge to not do that next month. The sooner it becomes irrelevant to you the better.

  Met JWs today - they lied about who they were

  so a couple came into the library where i work today and the woman said she was from the british sign language association and asked if i would display a leaflet for her.

  when she handed me the leaflet the jw website logo jumped out at me as did the words 'would you like to study the bible with jehovah's witnesses?

  ' there was a small picture that had someone conversing in sign language but the other pictures were typical jw leaflet pictures.

  just a heads-up that i will be testing some updates this evening.. the nature of the changes means it's difficult to test every scenario in advance offline (translation: it's a lot more effort and i just can't be bothered) so i'm going to go with the "wing-it" approach:.

  deploy, check for errors, try to fix errors before anyone else notices them.. i can switch between the new and old version pretty quickly so if there are significant issues, i'll rollback and revert the changes while i work on the fixes.

  worse case is the pages won't display quite right (dates might be a giveaway) but a full page refresh should fix things.. http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/.
