  he sent me this note after i talked to him on the phone and sent him my book.. "the super-abundant blessings i have received in the advancing the earthly organization of jehovah have been fantastic !!!".

  What is the inside info on "Reasoning From the Scriptures?"

  i understand why the witnesses won't actually "reason" from the scriptures; because they will have to come to grips with the fact that others have their own reasons, scripture-based, for believing differently than the jw's.. the "reasoning" book was supposed to arm the r&f with solid scriptural backing that could withstand most in-depth conversations.

  so, why is it gathering dust now?

  was there some doctrinal issue specifically?.

  blondie - I know they have been using that figure at least since the 60's.

  No one uses that now. It's like putting out an Awake article out now, saying Jupiter has 12 moons.

  This really was a key to me waking up. I gave many District Convention talks, and because I really wanted to give the best talk possible, I researched all the references. Time and time again, I found they were distorting the message or the information the quote or reference came from. It happened enough for me to realize, they were doing this on purpose, and who ever was writing them knew exactly what they were doing.

  By the way - the argument they use for 20 billion being OK on the earth is also false and dishonest. Correlating land per person, has nothing to do with the resources needed to sustain a massive population. It doesn't consider the other 1000 factors involved. I dont know why they just dont fall back on "jehober will provide".

  Blondie - yes the WT put it at 20 bill, but have used that number since from many decades ago.

  Notice they don't cite the source right?

  All modern estimates put it at 100 billion.

  Now why would the WT not update that number?
  

  Because almost any moron would know that the earth cant sustain 100 billion people, and then there would be a cascade of questions and dominos.

  Being in the cult spares no one.

  No one can help, but know that so many of us here know the pain that family and "friends" can inflict on us when we decide to leave the cult, or even just not go to meetings.

  it says "magic refers to practices associated with the occult, or the supernatural.

  it can include curses and the casting or breaking of spells.

  I still was an Elder when this happened. I freaked out a couple older sisters.

  We were at a "gathering" and they were talking about how all these "spiritistic movies are out now", like it was something new.

  I was already PIMO too. So I was getting annoyed under my skin.

  I was asking them what is "magic" and they gave the answer - demons using their powers to do something that couldn't be done.

  I asked them, what's a "miracle"? God or angels doing something with their powers that could not be done.

  Then I asked them, who gave demons the power to do "things that could not be done normally"?

  "well I guess jah did, but....."

  Then I said, well if the power came from the SAME place, and it does the same thing "do something that could not be done normally", using the word miracle or magic, is just semantics right?

  And most people when they hear the word magic, they think of what magicians do, which everyone know is sleight of hand or complicated tricks. No one thinks David Copperfield actually made the statue of liberty disapear, right?

  OMG you could smell the short circuits in their heads, and the Cognitive Dissidence was in full swing.

  I am sure they didnt think of me the same after that, though what I said was 100% true.

  How Can You Recognize True Worship?

  had to laugh when i read this in the good news from god publication on the website.. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/good-news-from-god/recognize-true-worshippers/.

  basically, watchtower just rattling of a list of things they (claim) to do when trying to identify "true" worship.. the closing question though, "which religion bases all its teachings on god’s word, honors god’s name, and proclaims god’s kingdom as mankind’s only hope?

  which group practices love and shuns war?
