I was informed that one of them (the eldest among them, I believe) recently passed away. He never stopped believing "the Truth."
This just proves that in order to disconnect from the WT religion, a person"MUST' do personal research outside the Watchtower and not allow (bias) to interfere with critical analysis of the religion. A person has to spend lots of time deconstructing the doctrines, the origins of the religion, and the wheels that run the Organization--(Hint-it's not Jehovah)
Only then can a person break free.
Being mistreated by the Organization or the members will only push a person away from meetings and service, but the person will continue to carry the guilt and fear till death.
He will still be a slave.
The only way to be truly free is to totally disconnect. The person has to see that the bible has been used by many--even before the Watchtower was born----to control--manipulate---and steal people's lives.
An omnipotent, omniscient, omni-benevolent God would have no need to be worship by lowly creatures or beings. (just as we humans have no need for ants to worship us) Neither would such a God use a book to direct any person in the ways of life, considering that such a book as the bible has been the instrument that has been used by devious men and women to inflict sooo much damage-emotionally, mentally, and physically to so many innocent persons

A lot of my JW family are confused. Some of them have opened up after all these years and are telling me they don't understand what is happening. Some have told me that it makes no sense that Jehovah would stop the preaching work for an entire year. Why would he do that if we are living in the last days and lives are at stake?
The virus should have come During the Great Tribulation, not before and stop the life saving work of preaching.
And they have also mentioned why in the world is the Society letting go of several bethelites who are older and have no Social Security or skills to take care of themselves. Why no more publications.
They are really getting distraught.
I think even if they all go back after the vaccines, it won't be the same. This has been a huge blow to their faith in-----THE ORGANIZATION.

This year was actually “The Beginning of The Last Days for the Watchtower
Before this year, there were very few that Questioned the Watchtower.
They were truly God’s Only Channel.
The only one that preached living forever in a paradise earth within a generation
There were Thousands of Child Abuse Victims-----but no one had any idea!
A few, knew 607 was the wrong date-------but this information was hidden to the majority
Leo Greenlees was a member of the Governing Body, but the truth is that he was a hidden pedophile in an organization that protects the identity of pedophiles.
The Watchtower WAS THE VOICE OF GOD

On April 30, 1993, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) put the web into the public domain, a decision that has fundamentally altered the past quarter-century, especially for Jehovah’s Witnesses.
On May 1, 1993 the first EX-JW – true apostate, was Born!

Magnum
From the time I was a small child, they showed me graphic depictions of people being destroyed in violent ways in a supposed upcoming end of the world.
Magnum, you just described my jw family. That was our daily dose that we received every day. All my brothers and sisters are now struggling financially just like you. I'm the one that has to help them and I actually don't mind. Why I didn't follow their course? I think it may have to do with the fact that I grew up with the internet.
But no one chooses to be a JW.
There are either born into the religion and trust their parents when they tell them it is the TRUTH! or They aren't told the whole truth when they start a bible study with some person looking for answers.
If JWs went to the door and told the householder;
We rather die than take a blood transfusion. We don't celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, Easter, Mother and Father's day, We shun our family if they ever leave the organization, We have to go door to door to be in good standing in the congregation. We have to attend all meetings if we are faithful, ONLY WE are going to be saved, everyone else will be destroyed. College is bad and so are beards. We can only marry a jehovah witness. We listen to every word that 8 old men in NY tell us--even if it doesn't make sense.
NO ONE WOULD JOIN IF JWs WERE HONEST FROM THE BEGINNING.

Who owns the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society
by pistolpete inactually no one does.. i know this is a concept that can be hard for some to grasp, considering all other forms of organizations like sole proprietorship, general partnership, an llc, or a for profit corporation.
these organizations are created legally for the simple purpose of making a profit.. but unlike a for profit corporation,---- a nonprofit corporation is formed to carry out-.
whether that be religious, educational, charitable, scientific or other qualifying purpose.

if there were no shareholders, how would a corporation President/CEO become appointed?

Are there more Bethel layoffs in the immediate future?
by LongHairGal ini just saw a post on reddit: ‘wt are prepping the r&f for changes in the march/april meeting workbook’.. in the post the person noted what they read (for march 8) and it mentioned bethel adjustments and reference was made to 2015 when bethelites were let go.. if this happens (yet again) another bunch of people are being sent home to fend for themselves in the big bad world at an advanced age with little to no preparation.
even though this doesn’t surprise me, it could not come at a worse time with a global pandemic and massive job loss everywhere..congregations are already in turmoil because of so many who reached retirement age totally unprepared because they were told armageddon would be here before they reached that age.
this is in addition to all the other ‘needy’ and troubled types in the congregations looking for as$istance.. i hope any bethelites there have a plan and some people they can contact.

But, as a single woman
Is it my imagination or does the religion, (Governing body, elders, COs, etc) do all they can to take advantage of single women. It seems like they just push the women to not get married, if you do get married, only marry a Jehovah witness, if you do marry a jehovah witness, only marry a ministerial servant or elder, if you do marry a jehovah witness ministerial servant then don't have children, and don't get a full time jobs, ---------just full time pioneer.
That might be one of the worst religions to join if you are a single woman.

I met one of those bethelites who was sent home. He was in his early 50s and told me that he started serving at bethel at age 19. He married at 20 and his wife has been there also since then. He was transferring from brother to brother because he couldn't find a job and didn't have enough money to pay the rent.
His wife was very disillusioned with the way her life turned out. She was telling one of my jw friends, a sister, that all her jw friends had married "Out of the truth" and most of them brought their husbands "into the truth" and lived in nice houses with nice cars and had a retirement in place. And to add insult to injury, they all had kids and grand-kids. Then she asked my jw friend, "Why didn't Jehovah bless me? I did everything right" But those that disobeyed, He blessed.
