Serious bible students questions about the bible
by TTWSYF inmany jws (and others) are serious about their biblical studies, but don't ask the right questions.
in basic journalism one learns to ask the right questions which in my years here, i've never hear asked.. who, what, where, by what help, by whose help, why, how and when.
these are all basic questions when researching anything that you want to write an article or paper on what ever related subject.. who wrote/created the bible?.

the poster was using a username--and not naming his wife---in person. For all we know it could all be made up! i know exactly where he is coming from--but i got lucky--my born in dubbette divorced me 40 years ago...happy days !
I agree! goingthruthemotions is not his real name and it's absurd to believe that it's GROSSLY WRONG to say whatever you want about your UN-NAMED wife----on Social Media-----to a group of persons--who also are also UNKNOWN. Talk about living in a fantasy world🤣🤣🤣
Go ahead goingthruthemotions-----and vent all you want-----we're here to listen to your frustrations. And if you are young like me------then by all means walk away while you still have time and find someone else or be single which is not bad either.
I have lots of friends who are single and never married and they certainly don't feel like they need a partner or it would be hell to be single. They are in their early 30s, date beautiful women, are very wealthy--(as a result of not getting married and having children) ----- what more could you want in this life!!!!

well anyways we were walking more and she said that the true religion follows that bible. So I said, OK...where in the bible does it say that Jesus returned invisibly in 1914? she said we don't teach that
Wow, that's incredible.
I don't think your wife is an idiot, but she is indoctrinated for sure.
Jws are not dumb people, most of them know that taking a blood transfusion can save your life in a blood loss emergency accident. I know several jw nurses who have a College degree in nursing and who are fully aware how a blood transfusion has saved millions.
But it's the indoctrination that has them messed up in the head. And even though they are well educated, the indoctrination that a blood transfusion is wrong in the eyes of Jehovah keeps them a slave to the Watchtower.
It's not easy waking up. Just look at all the ones here that were enslaved for years, some an entire lifetime because they believed with all their heart, mind, and soul that they HAD THE TRUTH.

The Evidence of Human Evolution keeps getting stronger and stronger
by Disillusioned JW indespite the wt's and young earth creationists' teachings against human evolution (namely macroevolution from non-humans) being a reality, the evidence of human evolution keeps getting stronger and stronger.. consider for example two science news articles and one other science article, each pertaining to the fossil that is nicknamed "little foot".
below are links to three science articles, listed in order of the articles from oldest to newest (except i don't see a date for one of the articles).

From MANY points of view : Cellular, Information and now Genetics, Evolution utterly fails to explain how we got here. When viewed through the lens of real science, Evolution has become, in my opinion, little more than a fairy tail for adults.
Sea Breeze, I personally give evolution a 50/50 probability of life evolving. I read some information on it but for some reason it does not interest me that much for me to dedicate hrs of research on the subject.
On the other hand I don't believe in the God of the bible either. I "Feel" meaning with no evidence, that there Was or is a Creator, but not like the Creator Humans describe as benevolent, omniscient, and omnipotent.
I'm a possiblian, meaning there are so many scenarios on how life could have started or evolved that it is actually impossible at this point in human history to claim for a certainty that we know how life on earth started.
I feel that many Scientist who are bent on saying evolution is a fact as well as creationists and their view, feel that there is no need to discuss the subject of how life started any further because they got it all figured out
TRUE SCIENCE is about "Creativity of making NEW HYPOTHESIS, - IT'S THE TOLERANCE OF HOLDING MULTIPLE HYPOTHESIS AT THE SAME TIME. Then trying to duplicate their hypothesis in a lab.
And the reason for having this frame of mind is because at this point we know to little to commit to anything in particular.
I really like it when true Scientists, whether in the field of biology, neuroscience, or Biology admit that there are still to many HOLES in the theories of Creation and Evolution.
Here are a couple of examples with men in different fields who are very vocal in just saying;
We Still Don't Know!

I Don't think the jw kids today are afraid of the Elders or the Governing Body, like the jw kids of pre-internet era.
by pistolpete insomething i've notice with born in jw kids posting on reddit, is that they have no problem telling off the elders.
this generation of born in jw kids just have no fear of who the elders represent because they know from researching on the internet, that jehovah is a created character by ancient people, and no different or real, than thanos.. these kids know exactly what's going on with the child sexual abuse in the organization.
they also have read and memorized the elder's book online.

This generation of born in JW kids just have no fear of who the elders represent because they know from researching on the internet, that Jehovah is a created character by ancient people, and no different OR REAL, than Thanos.
These kids know exactly what's going on with the Child sexual abuse in the organization. They also have read and memorized the Elder's book online. They also know all the doctrinal flip-flops throughout the years of the organization including the false date of 607.
This unique situation among the young jws is the result of the internet and all the information out there on the Watchtower Organization.
These kids won't be wasting their life pioneering, reaching out to be MS or Elders, and jw girl won't be looking to marry a Ministerial Servant like Tony Morris said is a must.
Most of them are just waiting their time out until they turn 18 and move out.
So here is one experience by a teen that was forced to attend a shepherding call by three elders via Zoom to see if she had done something needing judicial meeting.
Experience;
As you all know convention is today, so yesterday I had a virtual shepherding call. Not one or two BUT THREE elders joined to talk with me. Normally I would of been intimidated but now after some critical thinking I never knew why they scared me before.
The entire meeting they kept trying to bait me. They kept digging into my past to try and get a response to validate there pestering. But I stayed stone faced and gave quick and precise answers.
Finally one elder asked me to explain in my own words why I don’t like following the Borg. They tried to joke, this is the best option haha. I was waiting for this question.
I absolutely tore into them, on the child abuse and sexual assault in the Borg that’s covered up, the unlawful and immoral practices taken by a large majority of the elders at my hall etc.
They were so stunned until that cliche older elder got heated and tried to yell at me that I’m letting satan corrupt me and I don’t have much longer left and this comes from a place of love.
My response was, don’t gaslight me. They all got so flustered and tried to say it wasn’t gaslighting. So I pulled up the definition. That led to more “not” gaslighting until I just told them I felt pity for them.
They were shocked I said this so I took my time to explain why. I told them, I feel pity because I look on your faces and I see the regret. Your old men now devoted your entire lives to this but I cannot say any of you are happy.
All you do is sit there and judge others and put them down to make yourself feel powerful. Well let me tel you something, none of you have any actual power than what we give you. If everyone collectively stopped listening to elders what power do they have to enforce anything?
None, just old men desperately to hold onto power but you can do nothing. So i feel pity for all of you. Your not happy but your in so deep you convince yourself your happy to not live with the knowledge that you wasted your life away.
After that they just all went quiet and said they’ll pray for me and an elder kicked me off of the zoom link. I was scared I’d get in trouble but my parents told me they were happy I didn’t stoop to that certain elders level and get emotional(they thought he was too extreme) but they ofc were pissed i didn’t suddenly convert back.
I only was able to do this due to this sub and a few of you who I’ve befriended outside of reddit. So thank you all for the help and advice and experiences to motivate me to finally stand up for myself.

Most doubts aren't created by apostates. They are created in a Kingdom Hall.
by pistolpete ini found this interesting perspective on reddit.. post;.
i remember the moment the first real crack in my faith happened as a jehovah's witness.
i was sitting in the kingdom hall during the watchtower study where, as is common, the article was talking about how the israelites as a nation abandoned jehovah.. "but wait," i thought, "having a nation represent him here on earth was part of his plan.

This is what caused one person to doubt.
Even if Jehovah were to “finish” these things (via Armageddon), how do we know it will actually succeed ?
Look at the cost it took to get there. Billions of people dying over millennia in wars, plagues, starvation, etc. Hell, he sacrificed his own son (Jesus)! Talk about an irresponsible buffoon that doesn’t even heed his own advice. If he was an employee, he would have been fired long ago.
And don’t forget another test after 1000 yrs and it says more would fall like sands of the sea so that we’d have to go through it again even after Armageddon.

We keep saying “Orwellian….” Yikes…
by DATA-DOG inthis is so eerily similar to the whitewashing and revisionist history practices by the governing body that it’s downright scary.
in reality it’s far, far worse as the powers behind the current practices have real power and influence.
they aren’t just some overweight buffoons worried about young men humping their pillows.. .

The over oppression of power and control which JWS elders are afforded is a reason that made many people leave this organization altogether.
JWS elders are there to judge, evaluate and even penalize people at will to an individual's apparent righteousness.I believe this is the NUMBER ONE reason why jws starting waking up.

I found this interesting perspective on reddit.
Post;
I remember the moment the first real crack in my faith happened as a Jehovah's Witness.
I was sitting in the Kingdom Hall during the Watchtower study where, as is common, the article was talking about how the Israelites as a nation abandoned Jehovah.
"But wait," I thought, "Having a nation represent him here on earth was part of his plan. If they abandoned him, then his plan failed."
This thought spiraled into further epiphanies.
"Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden. That plan failed too."
"Having a heavenly family where everyone worships him. That plan failed."
"Ridding the earth of wickedness during the flood. That failed."
"How reliable is Jehovah? His plans never seem to go as intended. Will his plan of Paradise even work? What about his 'earthy organization?'"
These were some doubts purely from a theological perspective as I had already had a few from a scientific one. Watchtower always said to research in their publications when you had doubts, but as these doubts grew and splintered into new ones, I was finding the publications just didn't have the answers.
When someone is truly honest with themselves, they don't continually try to prove to themselves that something is true when they have already verified it is false. Watchtower actually asks JWs to do this.
"Strengthening one's faith" and "waiting on Jehovah" are both examples. The former is asking JWs to only look at evidence or circumstances that point to Jehovah actually existing along with his grand plan for humanity.
The latter, waiting on Jehovah, is asking JWs to ignore their doubts and wait when strengthening their faith doesn't work.
And this is why apostates are so "dangerous."
When JWs find that Watchtower doesn't have all the answers, we are here to say, "You are not crazy for thinking this way. I had that doubt too."
Our only threat to Watchtower is simply validating the thoughts that current Witnesses already have.
When I first found this sub, I wasn't flooded with new information to take away my faith.
I was simply told I was not crazy for thinking the way I did, and that went a long way in helping me to be mentally free.
Watchtower has it wrong.

by pistolpete inimagine the "faithful" jws who are now having to talk to this person by court order or face the consequences----legally.. exjws are spreading the news and now some exjws who have been disfellowshipped for years are starting to research to see if this is an option in their country.
