"In 1964, on the floor of the U.S. Senate, Democrats held the longest filibuster in our nation’s history, 60 days. All trying to prevent the passing of one thing. The Civil Rights Act."
Fuc*ing Democrats!
bewildering background.
even among the greatest religious thinkers and moral philosophers of civilizations around the world for 1000’s of years slavery was not considered a moral issue.. only one civilization developed a “moral revulsion” against it very late in its history:western civilization.. abraham lincoln said:if slavery is not considered wrong; nothing can be considered as wrong.. but why did not even the leading moralists among other nations and civilizations reject slavery at all?.
there is no evidence that slavery came under attack in any other part of the world before the 18th century.

" this is the man who made it all happen" type this in.. this is how the watchtower organization began!
!.
Miller had an "IDEA" but it was "PEOPLE" who perpetuated his "Idea"
Miller's prophesy failed. He was done, it was over, cased CLOSED.
But there are always some nutty followers that just won't let it die .
George Storrs, George Stetson, and Nelson Barbour were staunch Millerite Adventist who just wouldn't let the "Idea" DIE. Nelson Barbour spread this propaganda to Charles Taze Russell who in turn spread it to Judge Rutherford who in turn handed the baton to succeeding men who were more than willing to continue in this 'IDEA" that had FAILED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.
But in all reality, it's People who give LIFE AND BREATH TO CRAZY IDEAS. It's people who keep these ideas alive and well.
The idea that is actually at fault is not so much the idea that the Watchtower holds. But the real culprit is the idea that THE BIBLE IS GOD'S INSPIRED WORD TO HUMANS.
Debunk that idea, and all Christianity and Abahamic religions DIE, which include WT.
it's come to the point now, after being out almost 5 years, that i've come too far with my life, acheived the things i wanted (or i'm on the road to), did the things i wanted to do and have reached a happy and satisfactory life.. i did all this on my own apart from exjws such as yourselves online for support.
after reaching a place where i finally dont think about wt everyday and stopped getting emotional or worked up about my former jw life i'm glad to simply live my life and let others get on with theirs.. but, if my family were to leave and get in touch i'd have to deal with all that shit again.
i'd have to deal with people who's personality i deliberately removed from my life as i was building an authentic nonjw life.. my mother would likely still be closed minded and homophobic.. my sisters would likely still live for gossip and social media stalking.. my cousins would likely still put on a pretence of wealth to impress those around them.. i really cant be doing with such people.. it sounds bad, but i really hope they stay in.
I believe a person can choose whoever he wants to be in his circle of close friends,
Whether it is JWs - (still in the religion) or EXJWs, (not in the religion anymore), or relatives, or close family members, or work associates, or any other group one can conjure up, -----the named relationship should never be the criteria that determines who one chooses as one's close friend.
Life is to short to allow people into your personal life that will drag you down mentally, emotionally, or physically.
One should choose people who add zest in his/her life and understand the meaning of compassion.
hi folks.. i put this in practices as i thought that appropriate.
perhaps it should be in scandalous behavior.
not a big deal but an example of the cult-ish intimidation and behavior.. at the end of this mornings short wt review prior to the convention brainwash by jackson, ( melbourne australia) the elder stated "brothers we have a resolution to present to the congregation".
the subject is searching for lost sheep.
how do the congregation view the inactive ones who no longer associate?
not with disdain, we are told but as lost sheep “still our brothers “ it is said that god loves them and they too must do what they can to help them.. why have we strayed ?
What words would you put in her mouth?
Those poor fools!
i know the usa is not perfect.
there have always been social issues and differences.
politics has been for many people divisive.
I think of States instead of the entire Country because each State is basically its own Country according to the 10 Amendment.
For example, right now Portland, New York, parts of California and Chicago are a piece of shit and who would want to live there? Right now there is a mass exodus going on in those States. I had to go to Chicago for two days and wound up in the middle of a Gun fight and almost got shot. I got the hell out of that State within two hours after the incident
There is about 350 million people in the USA plus a few million illegal immigrants roaming the streets, and about a third of them are bat shit crazy. Thankfully most of them are concentrated in certain States and I just stay away from those places.
as time goes on, i keep rethinking this whole thing about states' rights here in the us.
the more i think about it, i think less states' power may be a way to reduce some of the craziness going on.. as mentioned on another thread, you can't even drive now into some states without them checking your license tag where you are from so you have have to be quarantined.
states such as georgia are pretty much wide open.
Disagree. The states of the United States are basically like countries within themselves. Huge populations in some, huge economies, and extremely diverse cultures.
Our top cop refuses to enforce insane corona restrictions, and he refuses to even consider any of the foolishness regarding gun restrictions. We love it
Totally agree.
The Governor of Texas was one of the first to stop the lock down and allowed anyone who wished to go back to work to do so at their own risk. Many business in Texas have been saved. The news has been lying that Texas has more deaths than many other States.
In one county in Texas run by a Democratic Mayor, the virus lockdown continued and the Mayor would not allow anyone to go back to work. In that county many were losing their business. One lady defied the lockdown and went and opened her shop because she needed to feed her kids. The Mayor sent the police and arrested that lady. The Judge was a Democratic appointed judge and sentence the lady who had kids at home to several days in jail and a 7,000 dollar fine.
Many Republican Officials were outraged. Texas Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said he would pay fines and do the jail time for her so she could go home to her kids who were all underage. He paid the fine and she was released.
Can you imagine any Democratic State when a high official would do something like this? Never!
At a Church in Texas when a crazy man pulled out a shotgun and started shooting. About 20 people pulled out their guns, and one shooter killed the crazy man, thus saving many innocent lives.
The man who dropped the killer was praised and given the highest honor by the Republican Governor, Mayor, Police force and thousands of citizens.
Imagine if Biden and Harris wins and forced a buyback on all guns in every State. Every State will be like Chicago or NY. where murders are in the hundreds every week. And the Democratic leaders there want to defund the police!
the july 2020 announcements mentions that baptism can be held in an “inflatable pool” as long as it touches the ground.
the pool must not be “on a terrace, flat roof, balcony, etc.”.
has anyone ever noticed that as a requirement?.

What if you're in Space.
the next thing i knew, i was knee deep in conversation with a seminary student covering two thousand years of religious history.
damn, how did that happen?i won’t bore you with lavish details.
in fact, i only mention the incident for one reason.i'm no smarter than anybody - but i've had way too much practice chatting with eager christian seminary students.i posed a couple of questions i’d never done before which seemed to stop this fella dead in his tracks.
You are now able to save all of them by simply asking me to spare them. But, John---you have to die in place of them. Okay? What is your answer?”
Insert; Except John, you won't get a resurrection like Jesus. You'll be dead forever. With that in mind will you still die for those 4 billion infants, children, mothers, fathers, and grandparents who never heard of Jesus.
I wonder what reply John would have given under these circumstances? Would he still die for all those people if no resurrection was available for him anymore?
i miss listening and dancing to live music on a weekend night.. i miss going into a crowded mall store to window shop.. i miss going out into public and not having to wear a mask.. i miss seeing people freely mingle on a busy street or sidewalk.. what a difference a year makes!.
WTWizard Once Biden and Harris become president and vice president (and we know it won't be long before Harris is in full charge), I expect this to happen so fast that no one will be able to do anything about it.
In the United States the President does not have absolute power. The Constitution was formed with a System called “Separation of Powers”
In ruling a democratic country is provides a system of “checks and balances”
If Harris becomes President and wants to legislate a law saying every citizen has to wear a masks, or every citizen has to get the flu shot, she cannot use her executive power to enforce such law.
Such law has to go through Congress first to be approved. Congress has a total of 535 members and divided into two houses. The Senate and the House of Represent ivies. Each house is divided between Republicans and Democrats. Both have to agree to new legislation. Which is very hard to do because each member of congress wants to keep his job and will vote to satisfy his constituents.
So if the majority of people don’t want to be forced to take a flu shot or wear a mask, they call their Congressman and let him know if he doesn’t want to be voted out next term, then they better say NO to the suggested new law suggested by the President.
If Congress says NO, then the bill won’t go through.
Also the Federal government cannot impose Federal law into the individual States without a legal fight. That is why President Trump could not independently sent the national guard or the military into Portland to stop the riots and crime without the invitation of the governor and mayors. Unless there is a world war or a dangerous terrorist threat like a nuclear threat, in which case the President can use executive privilege, his powers are very limited within the Republic.
