I could go to Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn for some groovy accessories for my house...or Christmas pressies so I don't have that added stress in six weeks.
Steve needs a new bicycle for next season....$1000 would make a dent in the total so I'd probably go that route.

1. You reject the Bible for the lack of positive proof for it.2. But you accept God for the lack of negative proof against it (him, or her).
But isn't that how we accept or reject ideas? I could just as easily say there is too much negative proof against the bible so therefore I reject that it is the inspired word of God.
Also, just seeing the world around me and the birth of my children gives me positive proof of God's existance.
Does that make sense to you? Because it makes perfect sense to me.

i've been struggling so much with some old programming that i truly feel is from the witnesses, and my father in particular.
he always told me men and women couldn't be friends -- unless they were married or related -- because they'd fall in love with each other and leave their mates.
that's why you could only be friends with your own gender and were never allowed to be alone with someone of the opposite sex, even in a car.

I was going to suggest you work on some male friendships but Toe beat me to it. Maybe having some male buddies will help you realize it's just a friendship and nothing to threaten your marriage.

But where did you get that idea of "God," or "Creator," in the first place?
I was raised a dub. I'm pretty sure that's where I learned about a God. It's also where I learned about the bible. Since leaving, I've determined that there is no proof that the bible really is the inspired word of God. I've yet to see proof that there is no God at all.
I'm very comfortable believing in a god but not in the bible. I think all religions worship god or gods but put a different spin on his name or gender and holy book(s).

Nark, lots of people believe in God but aren't Christian and don't believe in the Bible. I guess I don't understand your point. Can't I believe in a creator without believing the Bible?

Exactly. Steve and I were discussing this last night. We scoff at the Mormon's story of how the Book Of Mormon is inspired by God but is our story any less ridiculous? The Bible is inspired of God 'cause he says so. WTF? God was really busy for quite a long period of time and then he quit. No one has seen or heard from him since. Except for the crazies of course. God sure picks unusual people to speak directly to and no one else ever hears it. I'm not buying it. It's all bunk IMHO. Don't get me wrong, I believe in God. I just don't believe the Bible...there is no proof.
