  No school again today

  for the second day in a row, the schools are closed because of the snow.

  very strange for november.. it is collllddddd today and the roads are solid ice after the bit of a thaw yesterday.

  another big snowstorm hit last evening.

  I was sitting a bit to the left in that Seahawks picture. My friend and I drove through some crazy ice and snow to get to the game. Had a blast, yelled until my throat was raw and took over two hours to drive 20 miles home. So much fun.

  I finally got to my house at midnight. Didn't even bother setting the alarm. I knew they'd cancel school with the roads like an ice rink. I just hope they have school tomorrow!

  This cold snap is good for us in the plumbing business. We should be busy with freeze breaks for the next couple of days. Unfortunately, it's still hard to get to the customers. Steve has been trying to get to a customer for 2 hours but the ice is hampering his efforts...

  It's not even December, and it's snowing in Seattle

  we seldom get snow in this part of the country until january or february.. but, it is snowing today and the forecasters say we will have it like this for a few days too.

  also odd for here.

  usually it will snow and the next day, it rains and it's all gone again.. so pretty!!!

  I woke up at 5am to get downtown Seattle for the Seattle (half) Marathon this morning. The last three years have been stunningly beautiful clear days for the marathon. This morning it was snowing lightly as my friend and I drove to the start. By the time we parked and got to the start line, it was mostly raining. It rained the entire 13.1 miles.

  Maybe There's a Heaven...

  i don't often open up discussions on my beliefs or experiences in life, but i feel a need, so please excuse me if you feel it untoward.

  neither is this a poxy swan-song, i'm just opening up my heart a little.. today i had cause to reflect on a conversation i had with my [now ex-]wife shortly after my epithany.

  everything was so new and unknown.

  For several years after I left the JWs, I felt as though I were at sea, with no reference points and no stability about if or what I believed. I was listening and my heart was open. Yet, I never received any kind of indication that Christ was out there reaching out to me -- no epiphany, no sign, no nothing. My question is how do you account for the fact that Christ appears to pick and choose whom he reveals himself to? I'm not looking to disparage your experience; I really would like to know.

  I have asked the same question. I personally am not a believer, but my husband is. At least he was. He spent years after leaving the WTS trying to get an answer...to no avail. He was just quoting one of his favorite lines from a movie last night. Steve Buscimi in The Island when asked what god was. "You know when you want something really bad and you close your eyes and ask for it? God is the guy who ignores you."

  Trick or treat

  or as its known in england "give us yer stuff or we'll egg you".. it really isnt the cozy friendly 'kids get dressed up and chat to all the neighbours nicely' that it is portrayed on american tv (remember the et scene?).

  i know you guys across the pond love haloween but imo its awful here.

  youth crime goes up by 20% in the uk around haloween.. our version is way more menacing.

  That's so sad! It's one of my favorite holidays because of the kindness of all my neighbors. My brother brings his boys over for trick-or-treating with my kids every year and they have so much fun. The first time his middle boy was old enough to go trick-or-treating he just went along with the rest of the kids to the first door. He came running back yelling, "THAT GUY JUST GAVE ME CANDY!!!" He ran to each house after that! Tomorrow the youngest brother (2 years) is going for his first time.

  The worst behavior we see around here is pumpkins smashed in the streets. We always bring the jack-o-lanterns up to the front porch when it gets late. I don't want to have to clean up that mess!

  i just got the mario mix ddr game for gamecube and i'm buying mc groovz ddr as well.

  i've also played the ones for playstation but i dont own them.

  My son is not much in to playing outside. He'd rather read a book or manga or just draw. He's a big time video game geek but I restrict all "screens" (TV, video games and computer) to weekends only. The only exception is DDR. Since my office is right off the family room, I usually end up either leaving or closing my door when he and his friends get going on the DDR. They work up an awful sweat, smells like puppies, but at least they are really exercising!

  I bought the PS2 exclusively for DDR. I won't buy him any other games unless they are truly interactive and he has to move his entire body to play it.

  Running my first 5K - Want to come and cheer me on? :D

  on saturday, september 9th, 2006 i will be running my first 5k (3 miles) race in the freedom run (www.freedomrun.com).

  we start running at 8:30 am.

  there will also be a 1 mile walk for anyone who wants to support the cause but is not up to running three miles.

  I had two events I wanted to do yesterday but I went camping instead.

  The results are up on the web if you want to check your official time. I did the same thing. Ran a 5K and immediately started training for a 10K.
