Now that is an excellent suggestion, breakfast! Maybe I'll roll my own the next time a Witness tries to give me a tract. I don't smoke but it would be worth it just to see the looks.

"holding the anointed elders in his right hand"
by oppostate in(ks10 p11:1) revelation 1:20 depicts jesus as holding the anointed elders in his right hand, thus, by extension, indicating that he controls all bodies of elders for the purpose of accomplishing jehovah’s will.
(re pp.
in the shepherding book it says "holding the anointed elders in his right hand".

The idea that the Bible is only for the anointed (the Governing Body these days now that the rest of the anointed are ignored) isn't much different from the old Catholic teaching that the Bible was only for the priests to interpret.

Why a drop of over 3,700 publishers in the Democratic Republic of Congo?
by freddo inlooking at the figures for 2014 to 2015 the numbers have dropped from 180,343 to 176,585.. any idea why?.
-

Always possible the numbers were fudged in the first place. More likely fighting forced people to flee the country for a safer one, causing a sharp drop in one country and a sudden rise in another. When the situation becomes a bit better, people will start going home and there could be a spike in reported publishers. Just a guess though.

Did others experience this on the ministry or among JWs generally?
by slimboyfat insometimes it's hard to know if our own experience of jws was typical and what features were peculiar to our own area or the individual jws we knew personally.
i was wondering if others experienced this among jws:.
a few times on the ministry, when we were working wealthy areas with large houses, some brothers and sisters would make the comment that they look forward to taking ownership of one of these big houses after armageddon, when the worldly people have vacated them.

My area of Pennsylvania US doesn't have many affluent neighborhoods (we're mostly rural here) but there are a few. And yes, I heard comments like that pretty often 20 some years ago. Don't know what its like now.

That good old JW rumour mill
by punkofnice inbecause i simply decided the watchtower corporation wasn't the truth(tm) i was da'd in a secret jc that i didn't attend.
i was writing songs with a friend that day instead.. jws wasted no time in labelling me as an evil villain.
the rumours abounded.. i was labelled as 'a false prophet'.

I'm really sorry to hear what your dad went through, pale emperor. Its really sad that not only did he have to deal with a devastating illness, which is bad enough!, he had to deal with the slander put out by his ever so loving 'brothers' and 'sisters'.
Years ago a lady in my hall, an elder's wife, stopped going out in fs and started missing a lot of meetings. Of course the old gossip hotline revved into high gear. She was drifting away from the twoof; she was cheating on her husband. All the usual idiot stories. Then she died from leukemia. I wonder if the people who slandered her while she was dying felt at all bad after she was gone.
Oh the love!

Mom assumes I left because some of the young 'sisters' hurt my feelings. (I caught them red-handed gossiping about me at a meeting. Now its funny remembering how embarrassed they looked when they saw me standing behind them.) They did hurt my feelings, but that wasn't even close to being the reason I left. So much easier to blame hurt feelings than to admit da twoof is garbage!

Father's Day is tomorrow (in the US). Why is it wrong?
by leaving_quietly ini did an examination of the one single article ever to address father's day since it's tomorrow here in the us.
the article covers both mother's day and father's day.
hope it's informative.. examination of “mother and father worship unscriptural”, the only article ever to address father’s day in any publication printed by the watchtower bible and tract society.

Lets say we accept the idea that Mother's Day, Father's Day and birthdays are acts of worshipping humans. No Bible basis whatsoever, (the Bible even tells us specifically to 'honor thy father and thy mother) but lets say we accept it anyway. Now, if you accept that logic, then the logical next step would be to say that graduations, baby and wedding showers, wedding receptions and wedding anniversaries are worshipping humans. But very few JWs see those celebrations as worship. That makes no sense. Those celebrations are still focusing attention on a person.
I should know by now not to look for logic when it comes to JWs!

First exchange in years about JW religion with my wife...
by NVR2L8 intoday my wife showed me the new medical directive and power of attorney form she got at the meeting.
surprisingly she asked if i wanted to fill mine!
i have been inactive for 6 years and i don't go close to any jw gatherings because i don't want friends who only care for me unless i share their beliefs.

You're right, Baker. A blood transfusion is just a tissue/organ transplant. When transfused blood enters the body, it isn't digested. It performs the same function it did in the donor. Blood is still blood just as a donor kidney goes on being and acting like a kidney.
I am a proud blood donor. Where do JWs who accept blood fractions think they would be without people like me?

"how awful it must be to be dying as an apostate!"
by purrpurr ini heard today about a former jw/now apostate who is dying in hospital.
this information was accompanied by the comment of "wouldn't be awful to be lying there in hospital, dying as an apostate!
knowing that you have no hope!?

What condescending, holier than thou jerks! I'm one of those who would much much rather die as an apostate than live as a JW. The idea of Paradise never appealed to me anyway. Who wants to eat veggies and wear creepy fake smiles forever?
