Under The Dome

after watching the first 2 epsoides and looking foward to the rest i was thinking that a dome needs to be put over every kingdom hall on sunday morrning.

that way we could be rid of a large chunk of them and those who missed the meeting could see that its a false church.

wishful thinking i know but i can't help it..

hello, first let me apologixe for both my spelling and my grammer in advance, both are not my strong points.. i'll keep this short.

since i've been a child my mother has studied on and off with jw's ( i'm now 34) so i've been around it most of my life, i studied on and off myself for around 10 years.

thank's to this site and jwfacts i'll never study or step foot inside a kingdom hall again.

You are surely in a tough situation. I don't have any magical answers for you, but your situation is similar to many on this board have faced and are facing. A lot of good insight can be found from the members of this board.

Religious Fundamentalism and the fear of Education and its results

we experienced this phenomenon first hand and the rationale that went with it- the evil world and satan are out to destroy our minds and faith.. for many of us it meant no college, no institutes of higher learning.

no careers in the sciences and other fields which required university degrees.. our country is deeply divided along religious lines with proponents of the bible and quran holding to claims long disproven by science.. a terrible news story came from afghanistan today- road bombs killed six children.

we hear of this many times, way to often, but here the story takes a sadder turn.

I can remember the day when it finally sunk in that being a JW, that I was in a fundamentalist religion cult. I had always applied the term to either Islam or the Right-Wing Christian evangelical types.

Sam Harris has many thought provoking lectures/video discussions about the long term effects of fundamentalism, both Islamic and Christian.

Hello and my exit story from WTS

i thought it was fitting for me to share my freedom from the witnesses story on independence day weekend.. i dont have any secret info, just experiences that happened to me and started to open my eyes.. i was a third generation, raised in the truth kid who was never supposed to be born, and then never supposed to graduate high school.

ive now been out of high school longer than i was in school.. the beginning of the end started a little less than a decade ago.

i was late 20s at the time.

One thing that crossed my mind as I read your story was that your journey and awakening is far from uncommon. It seems that what causes many to question the legitamacy and rightfullness of the borg is the lunacy and ineptness of those that should be shining examples of the opposite.

So often when you give someone a clipboard and a little authority, the power goes straight to their head, and clouds out any reasonable decency or concern that normal humane people show to one another.

The power corrupts and brings to the fore what kind of person they truly are.
