I don't see what the big deal is. They are selling products to a specific market..a market that hasn't been tapped into much. Brilliant! Witnesses spend A LOT of money on supplies for FS..why should Walmart get all the profits?? lol

CAN EVERYONE DO ME A FAVOUR?
by Mary ini haven't been on here much lately, but i read barb anderson's report on the court case in california the other day.
nice to see the borg finally getting what they deserve.. anyway, the daily mail has done a story about it and at the end you can give your comments.
i think there are a number of 'faithful witlesses' on there who are giving the "thumbs down" to any negative comments about the borg, including mine.

My take on the new Be Jehovah's Friend DVD

This video was really sad. I actually got a knot in my stomach watching it...as I also get a knot in my stomach every time my sisters start to talk to my young kids about Jehovah and his reward for them IF they refuse to celebrate Christmas or if they throw away a toy that they love but that my sister feels is "demonized", ( yes, she uses terms like "demonized" and "immoral" and "pagan" around my kids, especially when they mention a holiday we are celebrating!) My sister was babysitting my kids for a weekend and when I came home my son told me that she took them to a movie as a reward for him throwing away his entire collection of Pokemon cards and toys...he had been collecting them for years! She did a real number on him, terrified him by telling him that God watches what he plays with and that some toys are "evil" to God and it makes him mad....now this poor kid had never even stepped foot in a Kingdom Hall, yet he felt guilty enough for playing with "bad" toys that he readily tossed them out. Needless to say, much as I love my sister...she is not allowed to discuss anything JW with my kids or she won't be allowed to spend any unsupervised time with them..ever.
Excellent job on the video...really is an eye opener. Thanks for sharing it!

but he explained that his family's faith prohibited blood transfusions.. "we adhere to strict bible principles and one of those is to abstain from blood," he said.

Having lost my 13 year old son last summer, reading this breaks my heart. I would have done anything to save my son. Their child is too young to decide for herself if she even believes what her parents believe, yet it's HER life at stake. Parents force this cult on their children and it isn't fair. The courts should definitely step in..this way she gets the life saving treatment and the parents can keep their "good conscience". Maybe that's what they really want anyway....but they don't want to be the ones to break what they believe is God's law.

Reccomended reading suggestions please.
by TheWormTower inso i've read carl olof jonsson's books the gentile times reconcidered and sign of the last days when, also raymond franz's two books crisis of conscience and in search or cristian freedom.
i am now reading a book entitled the bible unearthed by neil asher silberman and israel finkelstien which has been interesting however it stops at the old testement.
i'm looking for reccomendations on books to read next that go into the historicity of the new testement particularly from an archaeological and historical point of view.. thanks..

I also read "Lost Scriptures: Books that did not make it into the New Testament"..also by Bart Ehrman. Really enjoyed this book and refer back to it frequently. There are some pretty crazy stories in there.
